#ThankyouThursday to Michael Wright and friends who took on the Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride for us, raising a fantastic £1,850 for St Catherine’s which is being match-funded by his workplace, ABI in Samlesbury, in support of our national charity, Hospice UK! We’re also thanking the Rawstorne Singers who raised more than £360 from their summer concert at St Saviour CE Church in Bamber Bridge, and staff from NHS England who volunteered in our grounds of St Catherine’s Park.

We’d like to say a huge #ThankyouThursday to the amazing ‘Tour De Forbes’ cycling team, made up of staff from Forbes Solicitors who cycled 100 miles in a day, setting off from their office in Leeds and visiting other Forbes offices along the way including Manchester, Chorley, Walton Summit, and Blackburn. They called in at St Catherine’s en-route where they were greeted by cheering staff and volunteers, and have donated a fantastic £3,600 to the hospice in sponsorship. We’re delighted to hear back from a bride who found her perfect wedding dress at our very own St Catherine’s Bridal Boutique! Jennifer paid a visit to our charity shop in Lune Street, Preston, earlier this year, and enjoyed looking through the beautiful pre-loved dresses in the downstairs bridal wear range. She’s now shared these lovely photographs from her special day and said: “I’ve never felt more welcome in a shop; it just blew me away and there’s such a wide choice. I just fell in love with this wedding dress and knew it had to be the one!” Many congratulations Jennifer and Lorenzo! We’d also like to say a special ‘thank you’ to staff from Preston-based PAR Group, who came up with a gre...at idea to donate £20 to us every time the England squad scored a goal throughout the World Cup! You can read more about the scheme and the grand total here: https://bit.ly/2n4Amw9
And #ThankyouThursday to members of #TeamCallon who completed the National Three Peaks Challenge in 22 hours 57 minutes, in memory of their friend and cousin, Leon Callon. They have raised more than £3,200 from the feat! Excellent work guys!

When you think of one special place to be in your final days you think of home and family. The staff at St Catherine’s we’re just that. My mum had the best care, compassion and dignity that any daughter would be proud of. They made her feel at ease on her worst days and made her even happier on her best days. We have been very lucky to get to go home and without the exceptional care we received I really don’t think it could have been possible. So I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. X

User

We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful setting for my grandma's last few weeks. She received the most compassionate of care and the whole place has a happy and upbeat Nothing was too much trouble, from the nurses bringing a CD player for my grandma's Vera Lynn music, to the hairdresser giving my grandad a hair cut because he wanted to look smart for my grandma.

What could have been a very unhappy time for the family was in fact full of many happy memories.

The whole family cannot thank you enough

No words to describe the wonderful care my husband, Chris Hilton, received in the last couple of weeks of his life.

The staff looked after him with care and compassion and treatment him with dignity and respect.

I was able to stay with Chris in the last 10 days before he passed and I can not thank them enough for that.

The staff also looked after me as well making sure I was fed and watered.

Chris wanted to be at St Catherine's at the end of his life and I am so glad he was as he passed pain free and peacefully.

Absolutely Beautiful Place. My Dad...best friend & soul mate Mark Tomlinson passed away on the Epiphany 6.1.18...Struggling to write this as I miss him so very much. The staff at St Catherine's Hospice were Angels. Dad use to call them his Princesses...Sorry George x The care he received was exceptional and Dad knew once he got into St Catherine's that he was truly blessed...Thankyou from the bottom of my heart for helping caring and nurturing my Dad. We as a family will never forget you.

A remarkable place, to spend your last days, they make you feel like you are someone of worth. I had a personal experience at st. Catherine's, I was there for 6 weeks for pain management, they did everything possible to make it as easy and comfortable for me and my visitors, the staff and nurses are very compassionate, with empathy, a quality place and beautiful grounds for your recovery, xx
