St Kentigern'S Parish Centre Description
When it first opened in the 1970s the Parish Centre was run for many years by volunteers but as it became more successful it was necessary to employ paid staff.
The main area in the Parish Centre is the Lounge. We also have use of the Hall and three other meeting rooms which are all available for hire at a reasonable cost.
We can host wedding receptions, funeral parties and other family celebrations including birthdays, baptisms and other special occasions. Unfortunately, we do not cater for 18th or 21st birthday parties.
Children and families are most welcome in the Parish Centre. We support groups for children including; Tiddly Om Poms a music-based play group for pre-school children which meets on a Wednesday in term time from 2pm; a Rainbows and Brownies Pack which meets on a Tuesday from 6pm; Beavers, Cubs and Scouts who meet on a Wednesday from 6pm and Karate classes for young and old which are on a Thursday from 6pm.
Friday night is Quiz Night and we also hold themed evenings every other month.
To use the facilities at St Kentigern's Parish Centre you need to apply for membership. This costs £5 for an individual membership or £7. 50 for a joint membership. You need to be proposed and seconded by a fully-paid up member and, once accepted, you pay a £5 membership renewal annually.
The Parish Centre Management Committee is a group of volunteers from the parish who are responsible for the day to day running of the premises which includes; property maintenance, licensing applications, health and safety issues, staffing, finance and maintaining the bookings diary.
We also organise and run events for members and guests.

It may be a quiet quiz night tomorrow as many of our regulars are on holiday. We'll still be doing a quiz so please do come along and join us. We have a new microphone!
The gate that was blown off in the wind has been repaired.
Thank you to those who came along to our fund raiser for the Youth Group Retreat to Castlerigg in June. Though few in number, we had fun playing silly bingo, Beetle Drive and the ping pong challenge and managed to raise £51. Congratulations to Princess who drew the ugliest beetle and to Liza for the most attractive beetle. Thanks also to the girls for their musical performance.
Just to let you know that the Cancer Research Quiz Night on Friday 31st has been rescheduled to October. With this in mind, it'll be normal quiz with Alan. All welcome.
Tonight our Quiz Night was in support of a gentleman stranded in Thailand with dementia. He is a friend of the Karate Group who use our premises on a Thursday and Sunday. We thank them for all the prizes they provided which helped to raise an astounding amount of £200. We have some prizes left over so will hold a raffle after Mass on Sunday to add to the total. Thank you to everyone who came along. It was a good night!
Great night on Friday when the school held their annual Food Festival.
Today we hosted Laura's Baby Shower in the Parish Centre.
Special thanks to Fr Andrew who called two games of bingo too..
Congratulations to 'The Bar People' who won the Kevin Starkey Gnome Trophy for the second year running. We made £50 which will be given to the parish SVP. Winning score 32..if you'd like to make a donation to this worthy charity in Kevin's memory please hand it in at the weekend. Every penny helps.
We had a lovely day in the Parish Centre today. We had an Easter bonnet parade, a dance competition, played Easter snap and spent the afternoon relaxing with our church family. A big highlight was the Dads' and Mums' race in the hall on the soft toys. Special thanks to the anonymous donor who left some money in an envelope for everyone to have a drink. Very much appreciated by all!
