Very friendly atmosphere and cosy. We will definitely return and sample the menu!

The food is excellent, service great and a good selection of beer and gin!!

The food and drink has improved massively. I've been coming here for over 20 years and it's now better than ever. Although I do miss the late night rave ups that used to go on upstairs till all hours, but I probably couldn't handle that anymore ;-)

Superb location, wonderful staff, lovely beer, tasty BBQ, entertaining quiz! Ticks all the boxes!!

User

Really impressed since the National Trust took over the Sticklebarn. Excellent location, with numerous Guest Ales and a wide range on the menu . Certainly recommend any of the meat options from The Camp Food selection. Pleasant atmosphere and a comfortable place to be after a full day on the Pikes and Fells. Friendly Staff and cater for all your needs, even have warm blankets for when sat outside and the sun has gone down.

Reading a few of the previous reviews, I’m a little unsure where and why people’s expectation levels where set near the moon ! Its lovely tavern in Great Langdale with a good basic selection of food e.g Jacket Potatoes, soups, salads and sandwiches and the usual selection of Ales and Hot/Cold drinks ! We really enjoyed it and the staff where friendly and helpful, would recommend for pit stop on a walk

Great local beer and friendly, helpful staff. Food looked nice, next time we will eat here. Superb location.

Food was lovely, staff were very polite and professional, a welcome respite to a long walk, well worth a visit.

Fabulous pub to aim for after a long walk. Lunch menu not massive (which I think is a plus). Had a lovely wild mushroom soup and a ham sandwich yesterday - hit the spot. Lovely and very enthusiastic chef. Very good beer menu and a couple of good ciders. Looking forward to going back at New Year.

User

Excellent, though last time I was here about 50 years ago I got 2p for returning glass coke bottles, and I made a small fortune scouring the immediate area. Apparently they no longer give you the deposit money.

User

Excellent food after walking up to see the lake and waterfalls.

User

An open friendly space .lots of info for low and high level walks... dogs welcome .. always a plus!! Lush cake good coffee... Some fabulous events lined up in the haybarn. Looks to have bbq fire pit and great outside seating areas.. plenty parking.. oh and central to the fells of the valley!!

User

Amazing the food was stunning. And the view breath taking. We loved the open fire too. Super friendly staff. We will come back again

User

A great place to relax after a hard day on the fells.

User

Very rustic and tables a tad too close to each other. Staff are awesome and very friendly. Food served up on traditional tin plates as if it were camping style which is actually pretty good. Food is great. The surroundings and views is just what you would hope for given you are in the langdales.

User

Food and drink excellent. New tables and benches outside are awful & need throwing on the fire.

User

Too long to wait for food, up to 1 hr. Shame really because it's a lovely place. Perhaps more kitchen staff needed.

User

I love the place usually with the wonderful location xx views to die for and so atmospheric But....

Seating

The way the tables have been put now makes it a free for all.. it is more like a bunking barn with long rows of tables where you literally just look for a chair and sit in between people. And the room with the open fire has had table and chairs removed but replaced with a couple of sofas and some lounge chairs with very low tables making it difficult to eat except on you knee.

Food:

This has also changed greatly.. the varied wonderful menu gone, now tiny choice after hours on the fells i was looking forward to the burger or the goulash NOPE gone.. o well never mind but choice was tiny... shepards pie, Cumberland sausage and not much more.

I hardly ever write negative comments but i was so disappointed. I went for the shepards pie and it was ok but seriously there was no gravy in in at all but it was sort of tomato based.. weird.

Outside

This is still wonderful and there was a little fire in the old bird feeding area. Blankets provided to sit on lovely a negative was that no where to sit when raining. I know who the heck wants to sit in the rain but believe me lots do... if only drizzly xx

Prices

Ok not to ridiculous... it is the lakes x
