We’re not just a gym, we offer the perfect blend of personalised training within a group setting.

With us you will; Work towards goals that matter to YOU, make friends with other like minded people on a similar journey, be educated and coached by our knowledgeable, professional, friendly and understanding coaching staff.

Whether you want to lose unwanted body fat, build muscle, or simply become a healthier, fitter, leaner, stronger version of yourself. Whatever your personal goals are we will work with you to make sure you achieve the goals you aspire to.

You will learn about nutrition and develop healthy eating habits that will become second nature allowing you to still enjoy the foods you love.

Imagine being trained with friends by a qualified Personal Trainer numerous times per week on your own personalised goals. All within a friendly welcoming and supportive environment.

To get the best results we ask that you train a minimum of 3 times per week. But as we're open for 6 days you can come in and train on any of our fully coached small group training sessions as much as you like! : )

25 weeks in and I am balls deep in the love and support that the coaches and the team provide me to grow and work towards achieving my goals. My main reason for joining is to gain the strength and fitness to complete Tough Mudder half which is in just over 3 weeks time but also to maintain a healthier lifestyle for the long run.
This is no ordinary gym, it's a place where you can feel comfortable in a friendly, positive environment to train and feel good about yourself. I posted the below in our members only group last week, a little nervous sharing with the wider World. But we just wanted to show we're all on a journey, even coaches. The love and support that is generated at S&P is so totally incredible! #snptribe

"Everyone has a journey including us.
... I’ll say it now, I never had trouble with being overweight but have always been on the skinny side. In years gone by I’ve often felt self conscious with being slight in stature and a shorty (can’t do much about that). You know the innocent things family and friends say that remind you of how you look? “You’re all skin and bones lad!” or “Get some meat on ya!”
I’ve never suffered with anxiety on how I look but have always noticed when it comes apparent I’m the smallest in the room. On becoming a personal trainer I’d have to answer lovely questions like shouldn’t you be full of muscle if you’re a trainer? Do you even lift? What do you bench? Knowing the answers weren’t important to the person asking.
However, I’ve always managed to have the strength of mind to brush these comments aside in order to concentrate on what was important. Which is what you, our members need/want. And more often than not it’s a body and mind that is “fit for purpose” and cultivates habits for success and happiness.
And that’s exactly where I am now. I’m fit for purpose but really enjoying seeing the improvements and bodily changes.
The before pics were taken in September 2017 the Now pics last Sunday (23/07/18). So almost 10 months apart. To see great results it’ll always take longer than you’d like, but more often than not it’ll be shorter than you think. Although these pictures are 10 months apart the real changes happened within a 6-8 weeks period. I’ll admit that I perhaps coasted up until that point.
How did I do it? By following our own advice more strictly and precisely. Why did I make the change? Because I had a goal and I didn’t want to let the S&P side down or in my own mind feel foolish not looking my ‘best’. But in reality I had a goal which really meant something to me. Does the goal you set really mean something to you?
I trained hard and purposefully 3-5 times per week. And I made sure I was in a calorie deficit for the last 4-5 weeks prior to the end date. Simple Science. Energy Balance.
The photos are well lit and I did about 100 push ups before they were taken to get my arm pump on. But I’m still really happy with my changes. It was tough and I had to put in the work, but watching you lot train hard week in week out gives me drive! Seeing your little and big wins inspires me every single day! You are my team my tribe and #gymfamily

TOP TIP for building balanced leg strength.
DO single leg work.
Here we've got S&P Members Lisa performing reverse lunges off a step and Daz doing Bulgarian Split Squats.
... Concentrate on good range of motion 1st before increasing the load. I.e We like to see knees travelling closer to the ground before lifting heavier.
If you're weaker on one side, these will highlight this and help to correct imbalances.

Check out Elisa bossing these cossack Squats.
Most leg exercises concentrate on a forward plane of motion be it lunges, deadlifts or a regular Squat. Seldom do we play around with sideways movement.
Cossack Squats massively help increase range of motion, mobility and flexibility, stimulates the core muscles, builds muscular endurance and creates a good old leg burn.

Running my own business and being a father of two means that time is precious to me. I enjoy working out and exercising but have found that work and life always seemed to get in the way of being consistent.

When I first approached Upward Fitness to start training I asked how flexible they were on schedule and timings. They then began to explain to me how their small group personal training sessions worked and how I could swap in/out of different session times depending on my schedule.

I’ve had 1:1 training in the past but had to stop because I was forever missing my appointed time slot and struggled to catch up on training. Now I can plan my sessions in advance and in accordance with my busy schedule. Not only this I’m also really enjoying training in a small group more than I did 1:1.

Theres always a bit of friendly banter and fun between the other members during sessions and a little healthy competition which I enjoy. Training is great and the personalised approach to nutrition suits me down to the ground. Work and home life hasn’t changed or suffered but I’m now training consistently and feel healthier, fitter and stronger than I’ve ever felt before – A no brainer.

Really enjoying training at Upward Training. The sessions have a good mix of different exercises each time and the coaches take real attention to make sure that you’ve got the right technique on things.



The nutritional support is brilliant and it’s good to know there’s somebody just keeping an eye on how you’re doing with things.

Not trained for such a long time that I felt really self conscious and out of my depth attending my first consultation.

Thought about running the other way actually but headed to my appointment and so glad I did! Mark & Lynsey made me feel so welcome and at ease, as has everyone I've met.

It's given me the boost I've been lacking for so long, encouraged me to think about my eating habits and just generally get in a good frame of mind with regards to being healthier. Encouragement and support are in abundance as is patience when I struggle to sync my mind and body!

Nice mix of workouts and tailored circuit training to your individual needs.

I’ve had 2 major surgeries on my back and was on 16 Tramadols a day for about 3 years, so I was very scared to go back to gym environment. When I first spoke with Mark, I told him that the only concern I have is my back, and he took that in and started me off slowly and now after 40 days with S&P doing 3 sessions a week, i feel great and look forward to getting at the gym. I’ve lost 7 Kgs in 40 days and feel very energetic and touch wood no problems with the back �

Definitely I would recommend team Mark and Lynsy to anyone and don’t be shy as they are good people and will help you.

Fantastic gym and amazing trainers. Would definitely recommend to anyone that wants to get their fitness back or even starting from scratch. I started back at the gym 11 months after having a baby and was worried how unfit I'd become in the 15 months id not been training for. The first session was fantastic and although after that first session i worried i wouldnt be fit enough for the strong programme with the support from Mark and Lynsey I have since gone from strength to strength. With Mark and Lynseys help I can now lift heavier than before and my technique has improved greatly. I recently achieved a personal best on my glute bridges of 100kg and have continued to achieve more personal bests throughout the last 11 weeks of being part of the gym family. The other members are friendly and help support everyone. It's definitely a team gym!! I also suffer with arthritis and my knees have been a constant obstacle throughout but both the trainers have been very understanding and we have changed certain exercise to help build my knees back up. They never pushed me to do anything I couldn't and have always found variations. I can now do most of the exercises again with only slight pain which is amazing from where I was a few weeks ago. Due to the nature of my job I can't go regulary to a gym and use a personal trainer who is all the time there. I have started working with Mark and the amazing app just 5 months ago and achieved already many things I never thought would be possible that fast. Mark responds quickly to questions and gives also the right push if needed. If you need it is very easy to adjust the training plan yourself. I often have to change days of training, or the training needs to be adjusted due to fitness tests I have to go through. Mark has proven more than once that he is capable of seeing your needs and abilities. I can't highlight enough how grateful I am working with him and the app. It is just a perfect match.

At 61 I told Mark & Lynsey that gym's are not for me. I tried gym's in the past, but always felt left to my own devises not really knowing what to do or how to use the equipment. But at Upward Fitness & Wellbeing it is not like that, all the sessions are fully coached and so you are never left wondering what to do next.



I really like how personal the programs are as I don't want a body like an athlete I just want to improve my stamina and as the years creep up, enjoy a better quality of life. Mark did my assessment to find my range of movement and then by the time I had my first session Mark and Lynsey had worked out my peronlised programme that I follow each session.



I am loving my sessions and you know what? I feel great!

As a person who has always had a pathological loathing for exercise, I've tried many other routes to fitness in the past (boot camps, gym memberships etc), usually in the run up to a holiday or big event & never stuck at any of them. I am also lucky enough to have never had to watch what I eat (which is probably another reason for my idle approach to health & exercise). However, as I've hit my forties, I felt that I needed to make a few life style changes to my general health, strength & wellbeing. Lynsey & Mark have been absolutely amazing, they are encouraging & they make the whole process fun. More to the point, I've realised that in larger boot camp groups etc (when I could be bothered �) that I've been doing most of the exercises wrong anyhow. Here you get a dedicated one to one service both to your workout routine & also your nutrition (which has made me realise that my previous approach to food was putting it frankly, appalling).

After a month with these guys, I felt fitter, stronger, far more toned & shaped, with much more energy than I had previously!

Yes they charge more than your average gym, however for the one to one service you receive they are actually a lot more cost effective than their competitors offering a similar service. Can not recommend highly enough!
