Tonight we went for our wedding anniversary meal and we had such lovely service and a wonderful meal. The steak was Devine and cooked perfectly. The pudding topped it off with a special ‘Happy Anniversary’ written in chocolate on our plates. What a lovely treat. Thank you to all the staff and of course the chefs for an amazing effort. X

User

Rather concerned after a poor Sunday lunch 9 months ago however took family for Easter Sunday lunch and was excellent. Food was very good as were staff and service. We all really enjoyed ourselves.

User

Never had a bad meal here ... the Sunday lunch is always spot on

User

I have always had a good experience at the Swan, the staff are polite, friendly and attentive. I dine here with both business associates and friends. The menu is good, and the quality of the food is excellent. A good selection of wine and ales, this is my venue of choice. Highly recommended, I wish I could dine here more often +++++

User

Had the most wonderful lunch here on Saturday. The food and drink was beautiful and nothing was too much to ask for the super friendly and helpful staff.

We started off with food outside and loved the decking and lovely garden area and then when it got a bit rainy we made our way inside to have the best cheese board ever! Thanks again to the staff, we had a fab time!

User

Had a fab meal on Friday evening, and we will definitely be back.

User

Great pub, great food, great service. After a long flight from Australia, we had a very wholesome dinner. A couple of Gins and Scotch before dinner at the bar and some quiet chat with the staff.

User

We sat outside in the lovely sunshine at lunch time, the staff were great and the food was to die for

User

We have eaten at the Swan a few times now and whilst the food is always very good it is certainly lacking any presentation which you would expect when paying these prices. A little bit of watercress or salad with the starter would have been nice and maybe some chocolates with the coffee. It is no frills but at high prices and the restaurant was cold to say the least.

User

Very disappointed. We had the set lunchtime menu .the crispy wonton was not value for money .2 small pieces compared to a plateful of whitebait.we had fish and chips but no vinegar!! Just not nice without it !! Then we decided on puddings which took about 30 minutes to appear (after a gentle reminder ) then one was burnt !!! Thankyou for not charging for puds and offer of coffee but a very disappointing experience .we felt like we were an inconvenience being there as it was late afternoon and the staff were preparing for evening .

User

Sunday lunch with friends, got the starters wrong which was a little disappointing

Main courses ok but sprouts and roast potatoes were hard. Puddings ok, service ok if you have kids then not really suitable menu for them. Table if 7 £245 so not cheap. At this level I’d want perfection

User

We have been to the Swan many times and always had a fantastic meal, however on our most recent visit (which was for my birthday) things had certainly changed! We wasn't told once seated that the chicken was off the menu and it was only 8pm. After deciding what we would have (3 out of the 4 chose the chicken) it was at this point we were told it wasn't available! After re-deciding our choices we were served our sharing platter starters which were just placed on the table without the waitress asking who's starter was who's. It took nearly an hour for our mains to arrive but they were missing some of the side dishes, we asked the waiter where they were and he went off to get them, I was still missing a side of chips which took so long to arrive I had finished my main! It was a very dissapointing birthday dinner.

User

I was looking forward to dinner as I hadn’t been for a while and always remember The Swan being great. We ordered the shared platter and disappointingly wasn’t told when we ordered that they had run out of the brevatte. The chorizo and cheese swirls were not great, if there was chorizo in there I couldn’t find it. The chicken wings were also poor and didnt really taste of much. My main was OK, again not great. The service was really slow and it felt like they had tried to cram as many tables as possible in which made getting past for people really tight. We won’t be returning in an hurry!

User

I had a fish board for lunch my partner a meat board. There was no garnish of any kind on the fish board, no wedge of lemon and looked quite anemic. Although this wasn’t the end of the world, the standard of food has gone down dramatically since I last visited.

User

Been coming to the swan for about 8years now.And for the first time the place seem to be well out of sorts.

My wife's steak which she ask for well done came with a pool of blood in the middle.Taken away and recooked and returned but fatty and a bit tough.

The pudding Christmas pudding tart was stone cold and not very nice.

Come on Swan what's going on?

User

Very disappointing meal on Sunday, which is a shame as it’s always been a lovely pub. Two meals were missed off the order so we ended up eating separately, we were sat outside but didn’t get cutlery before the food and had to ask 3 times for cutlery, by which time the food was cold. The 3 pork roasts came without crackling even though the menu said it came with crackling. Macaroni cheese was very disappointing and had a very watery sauce, not what you expect for nearly £15! Shame as it always used to be a great pub!

User

Very disappointed today. Have not been for a few years so thought we would go here for a change. Charged £3 for bread to accompany the soup starter, my roast pork dinner came without the crackling (as described on the menu) and when queried this was told they had run out! The roast beef was very tough and stringy. Puddings were also poor, my chocolate brownie tasted a bit grainy and like it had come out of a tin, and the sticky toffee pudding was served in what I would describe as a shallow flower pot and not even on a plate. Felt sorry for the waitress who had to keep telling customers that dishes were off the menu. Not worth the price paid and definitely won't be going back.

User

The table service was atrocious! We were shown to our table and just left. We waited and waited and waited after 30 minutes we asked if we could order once ordered starters came pretty promptly. Again starters completed empty plates and we waited and waited and waited. Main course was served with the server realising the empty starter plates were still on the table. Theme developing here main course finished we waited and waited and waited then asked if we could order pudding. Pudding came ( 1 was wrong) we finished pudding and I am not even say what happened next as you can guess. We had to ask for the bill and then ask for the card machine. The food was lovely however the service was non existent we served ourselves. Was completely put of by the lack of organisation and attention to table particularly as the pub was half empty!!

User

Sadly disappointed.

We went with two friends on Saturday evening having not visited for a number of years.

The service was abrupt bordering upon rude. The waitress' first words after we'd sat down were "What do you want?".

An introduction? A menu maybe?

The food very hit and miss. The Beef Pie and Beef Wellington were nice but the Venison was the toughest and most tasteless I've ever had and the Sea bass smelled and tasted like a wet dishcloth.

It's not surprising the restaurant was half empty, we wont be coming back.
