Swimactive Swim Academy Description

Welcome to SwimActive - welcome to the the amazing world of Aquatics with teachers, Ian Kirk, Leah Kirk & Cath Richmond.

Moving around in water is fantastic! To be able to travel through water in complete ease & relaxation and with grace is a feeling of complete freedom with your body suspended in the water!

But first you need to be able to swim and to understand how to be safe in the water and also what to do if you do get into difficulties.

So to children and adults (of any age) alike – we invite you to have a fun journey learning to relax in the water , to ‘breathe out’ in the water and feel what it is like to move through it in a streamlined and efficient way.

Once learnt, you will never forget these amazing life skills – they will stay with you for the rest of your life.

Our 30 minute group classes are limited to six pupils per class so that each swimmer gets the most out of their lesson and our select team of swim instructors ( Ian & Leah Kirk & Cath Ricmond) all share a passion for teaching with bags of enthusiasm. We are also different to many swim schools in that our teachers are in the water with you, to encourage and support you, whilst you gain confidence and learn to swim.

Our classes follow the ASA (Amatuer Swimming Association) National Teaching plan which develops water skills, water confidence and stroke development. Your ability is assessed on a regular basis as you go along your swimming journey and when the required standard is achieved, you are awarded a nationally recognized award.

We offer both group and 1 – 2 -1 lessons to both children and adults, which includes stroke improvement classes for those of you who wish to spend more time in the water keeping fit, or who are taking part in the ever growing ‘open water’ events that are now available.

Some excellent results for ex SwimActive swimmers, Jasmine & Jessica Cadman from Lancaster city's recent club gala.
Jasmine took gold in all 5 events, plus the trophy for top 9 year old girl.... and younger sister,Jessica, took gold in 2 events and Silver in another. An awesome achievement from both girls.
Jasmine and Jessica are both developing into fabulous club swimmers at Lancaster. Keep working on your starts, turns, strokes & finishes and more success will surely follo...w.
It's great to see ex SwimActive swimmers go on to develop and flourish at Lancaster, who are clearly, doing a great job in coaching them both.
Well done girls!

Some excellent news about two of our former swimmers, Jasmine and Jessica Cadman who now swim and train with Lancaster swim club. At their recent club gala, Jasmine was 1st in all 4 strokes(50m) + 100m Individual Medley! Her younger sister, Jessica aged 7, came 2nd in 50m freestyle and 1st in backstroke. (Less than 1 second from club record for her age group...set by older sister Jasmine!). Awesome swimming girls!! All the hard work and skills practiced in training paying dividends. 👍👏👏

Some fabulous swimming and total commitment yesterday throughout our Challenge badge session at Lancs Uni pool. A collection of Gold, Silver and Bronze Challenge Awards gained with a few more to complete at Acresfield. Also, great experience for a couple of our younger swimmers. Congratulations to all - hope you enjoyed the session.

Well done also to our younger swimmers, Jessica Wareing, Daniel Collinson, Harry Leece and Libby Taylor with their stroke / dives / jumps from diving blocks, deep underwater swims....again some really nice strokes starting to show.... together with some great fun!

Well done to all my Tuesday swimmers. Everyone put in a great deal of effort today and several swimmers have been rewarded with new distance certificates. Special mention to the 5.30pm group who had a go at tumble turn for the very first time! 👏👍

User

Great fun this morning!

User

Thanks to all swimmers who attended the swim sessions at Lancaster University this morning. It was great to have a chance to practice some skills in deeper water. Hope you all enjoyed yourselves as much as I did.

User

Young club swimmers need to practice these turn skills....pushing off on your back in a tight streamlined position & rotating onto front / fly kicking etc... to build into their racing. No twisting onto tummy on the wall!

User

Outdoor swimming & swim safety sessions maybe of interest to some of our older swimmers.

User

Unbelievable how fast streamlined dolphin kick can be!
