Beer Trivia Fact: In old England, when customers got unruly, the barman would yell at them to: "Mind their own pints and quarts and settle down." This is where we get the phrase: 'mind your P's and Q's'.

Visited with my wife Sunday 25th of March ; was greeted well by a youngemeber of staff male and was quickly shown to our table. The food order was taken quickly and food was great had turkey roasts and onioin rings. The service was great a little cimlkain here was the person who took our order never checked back on us if everything was alright with our meals but wouldn't stop us from coming back... Great meal on a bright Sunday

User

Visited twice now and everyone loved their food both times. Staff are fantastic and can’t do enough for you. It’s always busy but there is never a long wait. Can’t recommend enough!

User

Really lovely food, great service, good prices, even though it was very busy we didn't have to wait too long for our meal

It was my dad's 90th birthday yesterday and we visited the tavern for lunch. Let me just say the staff were wonderful, the food perfect and at the end of the meal, the staff brought my dad's cake to the table singing happy birthday to him, at which point the rest of the diners joined in. He was over the moon when everyone then cheered and clapped. Can't recommend this place enough, and the manager (who's name I didn't get, sorry) your staff are a credit to you. Thank you all so much x

I want to thank all the staff/ management for there help and support. My son 2 has a seizure in the car. We pulled into the car park I ran in to get water as this was very traumatic experience the sane came out and helped and guided me and my family ringing an ambulance and supported us through this. Hope our next visit is a pleasant experience. Thank you again for everyone that helped and supported me and my family xx

I do love it here, but felt a little let down by the the burger on the Specials. It was chewy and nowhere near as nice as the burger that comes with the Brie etc on the main menu. Not put us off going though, we love it here.

User

Had afternoon tea with my daughter and grandparents. I highly recommend it. Had to bring some home. Will have this again. X

User

Great food and service again on our table of 8. Love coming here , one of my favourites.

User

Fantastic drinks & food was great too. Love the menu.

User

Came here for lunch with, a group of 8 friends in total, on 13th October. Ate from the ‘light’ menu and was pleasantly surprised at the portion sizes. Everyone enjoyed their meal, so much so, we have booked our Christmas Lunch here this year.

User

Been here loads now we absolutely love it great food and really polite helpful staff x

Went for lunch today 8.7.18 my hubby and I where shown to a table on arrival. The service was quick and very polite. The food piping hot and very tasty . On asking for the bill we checked and found out that we had been charged for 3 second courses not 2 !!! This added an extra £5 to the bill. We told another member of staff and they went to speak to a third member of staff who sorted out the problem. When the supervisor came back they apologised and said they had made a mistake when doing the bill. We often go here for lunch and have never checked our receipt before but we shall be doing from now on.

User

We always get a great meal here, however since going vegan / vegetarian when out at restaurants (because it's difficult to be vegan when out at restaurants ) I'm very disappointed in the choice on the menu, one vegan , one vegetarian main meal, not enough

User

The food was amazing, the staff are polite and friendly,my only complaint is the heat,i’ve been twice in the last few weeks and it is absolutely boiling, the heating is on full and there is a fire aswell,as much as I appreciate it gives off an ambience and the weather is changing there really isn’t any need for it to be that hot,I literally had to sit outside as soon as I’d finished my meal as my face was on fire, me and my partner wanted to stay for another couple of drinks but found the heat overwhelming.

User

It is always an enjoyable experience at the Tavern. The staff are very friendly & helpful. The menu is quite extensive, so it should be quite easy for anyone to find something they like.

There is also a good selection of beers at the bar, including a particular favourite of mine, Alchemists Ale.

All in all, a very pleasant restaurant.

User

This is our closest eatery, we usually eat here a lot, but I'm seriously thinking of eating somewhere else from now on. We went on Saturday although it was busy we got a table quick enough. I have no complaints about the food whatsoever, as usual it was excellent

The problem was the staff they got our meals mixed up, took ages to bring the wrong desserts & drinks were slow as well, I know there were new staff but he could've asked a senior member of staff if he had everything right.

But what really got us was that several staff were chewing gum, but it doesn't help that the manager walks around chewing as well.

If I wanted to go to a cheap pizza place then I would've. If in the unlikely event that we go again & staff are being so lackadaisical again we will walk straight out.

User

Think this place has just gone off the boil a little, food was just ok most of the staff not bad but one bar member think she was a supervisor small with a bun in her hair just didn’t want to be there , bit rude eyes brow lifting . I paid with a contactless card but didn’t get a receipt I asked for one I was told you don’t get one when you use contactless I asked again she gave me a copy that comes off for there records , she was really offish with me !!!!

User

Mostly food was nice apart from....,the fact that my steak and kidney pie had precisely 2 small pieces of steak and 2 really tiny pieces of kidney (which I had to really search for) mixed in with 24 mushrooms to bulk it out.

I told the waiter who I expected would take this back to the kitchens. No response.

I noticed that there was no amendment to my bill so queried this with one of the supervisors/managers explaining that I had notified the waiter at the time, and showed him the filling. I was told he was 'very sorry about that' and 'could have sorted it out if I had said something sooner'. I protested that I did say something straight away as soon as I had realised there was no meat in it and he was 'very sorry' about that also.

Really?!

I'm 'very sorry' I didn't make more fuss at the till about paying for a mushroom pie!

We really needed to leave and we had quite a distance to travel to take my father in law home (to Manchester) so I left having paid full price for for a flipping mushroom pie!

Not impressed at all!

User

are you planning on keeping that train announcement system for when peoples tables are ready? Its not that many steps to walk to the waiting area to call out peoples names... instead of disturbing the meals of people already seated!
