It's been an extremely busy couple of weeks in the #TerraClean network for fixing #DPFproblems. This is not one we did ourselves but one of our fellow dealers in the network resolved this for the owner.
At the very top of the problem list is the Nissan Qashqai. This one presented with a blocked unit and the owner had a competitive quote to "clean it". When he asked for a price to clean his local TerraClean dealer they asked if the cleaning company had investigated and identif...ied the problem. ............. "It's blocked was the owners answer" and that is fair comment from the owner, but the company cleaning should have known better and explained the concept of DPF to him. Once explained he took it to our dealer, who diagnosed the problem - which is ALWAYS the key. Then he resolved the problem, allowed the unit to regenerate (self-clean).

Here we have another Mercedes with apparent DPF issues.
Suggestions were fired at the owner by others including, gut it out and map it, flog the life out of it, get a forced regen done etc etc.. But the owner being wise contacted us to have an evaluation done.
After some checks through diagnostic and manual checks, the Dpf was found to be in good health and a faulty component was flagged, something that we see all too often and the main reason we cant give a repair quote un...til we have carried out our evaluation of the vehicle.
The component was sourced and fitted same day and vehicle was restored back to full power and back on the road again.

Ford transits of all types are one of the most regular vans brought to network specialists for DPF related problems. Owners want to avoid the unnecessary expense of replacing DPF units, too many are drawn-in by companies who say they will clean them at a great price.
The key is never just to clean. There is no po...int unblocking a DPF unless you are going to fix the fault that caused it to block in the first place. If you do not fix the fault, then either the cleaned DPF or even a new DPF is likely to block up again, that could happen soon after the clean or replacement.
We, like our fellow DPF technicians, have state of the art diagnostic equipment and importantly we know how to read and interpret the results of the diagnostics.
With this Transit Custom the blockage was due to a faulty sensor, relied upon by the vehicles ECU to signal that the vehicle was at the correct temperature to start the regeneration process. Replacing or cleaning the DPF unit would never remove that problem and without fixing it (in this case replacing the sensor) blockage would happen again pretty quickly.
By correctly diagnosing the fault and fitting a new quality replacement sensor the DPF was able to regenerate – so no cleaning fee was even required.

Another Ford Transit having a dpf clean, this time the problem was caused by a blocked vaporiser unit, this is used to inject fuel into the dpf to start the regeneration process. Once the vaporiser was replaced we carried out a dpf clean and then roadtest and then returned to vehicle to the owner fully functional.

With the start of the BTCC season fast approaching, TerraClean sponsored Colin Turkington / Team WSR have revealed this season’s car!
Colin Turkington will get behind the wheel of a new BMW 330i MSport in this year’s Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship as BMW confirm the return of its best-selling model worldwide back to Britain’s premier motor racing series. A prolific winner virtually from the outset, the story of the BMW 330i MSport in... the BTCC is a long and distinguished one, yielding five Drivers’ titles and two Manufacturers’ crowns between 1988 and 2009.
Team BMW have broken cover with their new BMW 330i MSport this morning ahead of its first official test later today. Dressed in the iconic M Motorsport colours, the stunning new build has been an anticipated addition to the BTCC grid since its announcement earlier this month.

Here is a Ford Transit Custom in for Diesel Particulate Filter Clean (DPF) as filter had become blocked. Not surprisingly the dealer's advice was a new unit, but the owner knew our network had great success resolving the regular problems this model encounters, so asked for a second opinion.
The TerraClean network viewpoint is that there is no point unblocking a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) unless you’re going to fix the fault that blocked it in the first place.
As with mos...t TerraClean dealers, the one this Transit came to have state of the art diagnostic equipment, and the training and knowledge to investigate and diagnose the fault, which was found to be simply a faulty sensor.
Sensor replaced, unit cleaned, and customer saved hundreds against the alternative of unnecessarily fitting a replacement unit.
