Whenever we holiday in the area, we make sure to visit the Clarendon most evenings for a few drinks, & have dinner there a few times a week. The food is always spectacular and the hospitality we receive is warm and welcoming.

Will be back a few more times yet before our holiday is over.

What can I tell you about my stay at the Clarendon Hotel ? We stayed for two nights on the Wednesday and the Thursday, the 1st night we got there after doing a lovely walk, at 6.30pm, can I book a table for 7pm I asked, yes no problem said Sean. We sat down ordered food and to say the meals that we had were good is a gross understatement, the food was to die for on both nights as was the breakfasts.

We met the fantastic Chef who also just happens to be French, a thoroughly nice genuine guy, and the owner !

All the staff are courteous, but not in a way that they are "just doing their job" way, they are also genuinely nice and nothing was too much trouble for them, and after staying at the Clarendon, I can tell you in all honesty, that Carlesburg don't make great stays at a Hotel in Hebden, but the Clarendon does !

We will definitely be returning to enjoy their hospitality 👍

User

We stopped off here for our Sunday lunch and it was to die for. Both me and my husband agreed it was the best roast we had ever had. We had the roast pork. Well worth visiting. Would recommend it to everyone

We just booked a room at the last minute and then saw that they had a Christmas menu, we also decided to book for that.

So after a great day trawling the markets of Skipton we made our way to the hotel, from walking in the door we felt welcome that feeling remained during our entire stay.

The bar was occupied by the fine gents who had also collected our main courses , pheasant, partridge etc. that were assembled on one of the tables prior to plucking.

We freshened up in the room and had a chill, the rooms would be small if you wanted to spend all day in them but are plenty big enough as a place to crash and tidy up. The rooms were also very clean and tidy with a kettle etc.

So we then went down for our evening meal, the food was nothing but the highest of quality, well presented but more impotantly perfectly cooked and loaded with flavour. The veg and gravy, were, for my taste absolutely spot on, every bite was a breath of freash air, unprocessed pleasure. We had a starter and main but to be honest we didn't have room for a sweet which was a pity but it would have been unfair to expect the staff to carry us to our room if we had have had a sweet.

We know that Yorkshire folk are noted for their thriftiness, but even the price here is not an issue, for the quality of food and service I think you would be hard pushed to find a better deal anywhere in England at this price.

Will we go again? Most certainly.

Would we recommend it? Without a doubt

Room for improvement? Not in our opinion

Thanks for a great evening guys

PS if you are stopping ......... wait until breakfast!

User

The hotel & service were outstanding, staff friendly & the food was exceptional we had in the evening the roasted mallard & gammon come highly recommended as does the breakfast. In the room there were bottles of water, a selection of teas & coffees, I would highly recommend this lovely place & we will be returning

User

Thank you for making us feel so welcome and comfortable during our two night stay! The food and service was exceptional and our room was spotless. We can't wait to return :)

User

Me and my partner stayed at the hotel last night, the accommodation, service, evening meal and breakfast was first class.I would recommend this hotel to anybody the staff could not do enough for you.We will be returning.

User

Lovely place to stay and the staff were very nice and helpful. The room was perfect for what we needed. The food was excellent both breakfast and evening food thanks for letting us stay there. :)

User

I'm a vegan which isn't easy in a pub setting, but the chef kindly made me a sweet potato and lentil pie with a home made pastry (instead of puff pastry) which was super kind of him, especially on a busy Sunday lunchtime. Food was lovely too and atmosphere nice ! Would recommend

User

Homely feel to this lovely hotel. Some great local ales and an impressive menu featuring lots of local game and produce. I highly recommend the Clarendon and would love to stay again.

User

Fantastic food and I mean fantastic . Very friendly and welcoming proprietors great rooms what more can you ask for. Throughly enjoyed our stay.

User

Came here for dinner twice during a week away staying in Hebden. Really friendly atmosphere and delicious food. Gluten fee options were good too and the profiteroles were a real treat! Not too expensive either.

User

Best Pint of Black Sheep I`ve ever had!, and not expensive!

User

A real quality pub to stay, eat and drink in.

Staff were excellent and treat us very well.

The countryside is stunning and offers a wide variety of walks.

Highly recommended. We will definitely go again.

User

The staff are really friendly and helpful, food was excellent, prices are reasonable, accommodation was a let down, we had room 3 and it did need attention, would have given 5 stars otherwise.

User

Nice pint of Timothy Taylor

I haven't been to the Clarendon for donkey's years but took a punt on it this evening. I'm so glad I did! I had a really awful meal at a nearby pub that has unwarranted pretensions last night. Tonight I adored your Barnsley Chop with garlic potatoes and more veggies than you can throw a stick at. Well done!

User

Had a great meal and overnight stay here on Friday. Two young ladies said they could vouch for the chef being good. They weren’t wrong food was excellent

User

Stayed here for one night with my husband . Staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived at about 7.15 pm on a Friday evening and the bar was very busy and noisy. Our room was right above the bar but the noise didn't keep us awake. The ensuite bathroom was tiny but clean. The duvet cover and towels were of an off white colour which made them look grubby although were clean (perhaps I'm being picky.)

Presentation is important to me.

The mattress though had definitely seen better days as was thin and sagged in middle.

Not very comfortable at all.

Wagons going passed early in morning didn't expect but didn't wake us as hubby can sleep through anything and I'm a morning person so was already awake.

We both had steak for dinner which was cooked beautifully and how we requested. Although there was no trimmings with It eg: onion rings mushrooms tomatoes just chips and peas.

Breakfast again was ok but I've had nicer.

Toast was tough and were no jams or marmalade . Husband mentioned his fried egg needed a little more cooking. Streaky bacon had more fat than actual bacon and mushroom tasted like it had been cooked on a barbeque.

All in all stay was nice but I think I have been spoiled by staying in a lot more modern and luxurious hotels and this was what i call a pub with rooms .
