We always love the Duke of Rothesay pub because it is very spacious & clean. The staff are friendly & the food are delicious & very affordable. We would definitely come back again and again.
Popped in with hubby today for a quick pint and a coffee and have never had such a warm, friendly welcome from landlady and regulars! I only wish we lived closer, this would definitely be our chosen “local”. Thank you xx
Friendly staff, reasonable prices and all of us enjoyed our food. What I really liked was seeing good selection of vegetarian food - so rather than just having to accept what the veggie option is (as in some places) it was nice to be able to choose something I really wanted!
Arrived last night facing a long wait for the Isle of Man ferry at 02.15 after a long journey. We were warmly welcomed and our 3dogs were allowed in and made a fuss of the food was excellent and very reasonably priced and the landlady and staff warm and friendly highly recommended
Absolutely fabulous steak. Brilliant staff xxxxx
Was great food but when choosing the 2 for £10 you haven't to choose any from the main meal but we made that mistake by choosing 1 from under the offer and 1 from main meals so was stung but it maybe should be coloured under the offer specially being a stranger you wouldn't know
Visited this pub as was near to where we were staying on holiday. Place is fairly big but in need of refurbishment. There is a good sized car park. Staff were friendly and drinks were cheap and tasted great (we had lager). Didn't have a meal as weren't hungry but food brought out to a nearby table looked very nice and smelled good
Always a good pint 🍺 in here ... food 🥘 is ok , pub grub but well served up . Good staff , good customers
Nice pub, nice staff food was good but flies are so off putting had to sit outside to eat.
Haven't been in a long time. Food was nice however my mash was lumpy and roasties were dry like they'd been stood for a long time (I can't blame you as I understand it's a car very) also staff seemed abit miserable, crack a smile! Makes a huge difference! Thanks.
We were really disappointed today. Been coming here several years for a carvery. Today we got scant portions of meat, the roast potatoes were literally rock hard, (no knife would cut through them!) the Yorkshire puddings had the texture of Wotsits, the drink was served when we reminded them ten minutes later, my husband only received half a latte and sugar was provided in a communal takeaway tub. The staff were not very illuminating either, we left there feeling depressed. We felt sorry for the girl that asked if everything had been okay......erm “not really” We won’t be coming again!!
dont allow dogs in even if in areas away from food :(..we sat outside with our family pet dog in the rain....the landlady lied and stated nothing to do with her..but custom of pub via the Brewery...now found out this rubbish up to the landlords
Went tonight after coming in here for years food was pre ordered 5 days be4 as a large group of us... Well what can i say AVOID AT ALL COST. food was vile. Service was slow , The chips was from the local chippy re heated children's food dripping in fat, fish was just all batter contained no fish and the second fish that cane out was dripping in fat, burger bread stale then to top if off puddings which we got for free was solid!!! Will never eat here again.. complaint going in Tuesday morning..
Went today food disgusting stale cold, flies everywhere waited ages to be served and also to receive food asked for the table to be cleaned and it didn’t get done, complained about the food and the chef said nothing to do with him no apology or anything stay well clear is my advice!
Visited yesterday evening, ordered food at the bar no problem and was not made aware of any wait, after an hour my partner went to ask how long it would be and was told it's due out. Around 1 hr 30 mins after ordering the food finally arrived, £15 for a mixed grill with no chicken as they ran out, no substitute and the steak was no bigger than 3 50p put together. Food was sent back and asked for a refund along with another family visiting the pub.
Pre-booked meal to celebrate family christening, food was disgusting, chips, mushy peas appeared as bought fro local chippy, ham was pale and felt like rubber, over 40 mins to be served despite havnig pre-ordered the food for at least a week. My husbands pastry on pie was solid and gravy was as salty as the sea. Most of our meals was not up to the standard I have been given in a Mitchells public house, most of the staff were pre-occupied in talking with friends/family, breaks and dis-order. We was given a reduction in the cost and offered desserts, to be given sponge so hard you could tell it had been warmed up in microwave like most of the accompaniments to our meals.
Never again will I have a meal at this establishment.
Full of flies. Food cross contaminated my daughter had salad dressing on her chips and onions stuck to the bottom of her ciabatta. She hates onions and the meal should have had none near it. Her ciabatta was also soaked with salad dressing and she had no salad on her plate.
Food was not very hot when it arrived and spent most of the time swatting flies away. We gave up in the end and asked for our meals to be boxed up so we could take them home. Not a very good experience for my husbands birthday meal. we won't be going back!!
Came off the ferry from Isle of Man 🇮🇲 decided to go there for lunch before driving home to Scotland 🏴 as we had something to do in Lancaster on route, big mistake only one guy front of house, very nice and friendly, one person in kitchen, waited forty minutes was originally told it would be twenty minutes, hubby was served mushy peas instead of peas, not too his liking, I got a refund as my macaroni was almost warm and certainly not very tasty, I did eat the mushy peas though. Have passed The Duke of Rothesay many times , this was our first visit, no return for us Maybe we were unlucky 4th January about 12.30pm.
