The Grill On New York Street

this is my 2nd time eating here and I was not disappointed table for 8 and not one person had a bad meal. steaks all round perfectly cooked and service was great. little issue with the member discount but this was handled straight away with no fuss. I would most definitely recommend this restaurant.

Wonderful staff, yummy food, lovely atmosphere. Hot chocolate... not so good, was like warm milk, no choc taste, no cream & marsh mellows as advertised. One tiny negative doesn't change the 5*'s I think it deserves.

We went for a meal last night for my husbands birthday. It was extremely busy but the service was excellent. Our waitress was lovely and very helpful. I booked ‘The grill’ as my husband loves his steak and it was his birthday. I on the other hand am a vegetarian. The options for veggies were limited but I knew this before I booked as I had looked at the menu. However, the 2 courses I had were delicious. It was a real treat to go somewhere and be able to have something different than the usual cheese and onion pie or plain pizza!! I would certainly go back. Thank you. X

We had a table booked at grill on the alley yesterday but due to an incident we were redirected to grill on New York street at the time we were a bit disappointed about this however trust me when i say it was utterly amazing the food was outstanding and the service was 1st class, thank you for a wonderful experience will definitely be spreading the word about this gem of a place, cannot wait to revisit.

We arrived a day early for our meal and despite being fully booked the staff managed to squeeze us in. Service was excellent and the fastest we experienced in a city that seems to work on a dead slow or stop pace. Drinks were replenished quickly, food was cooked to perfection and dessert was more than we could handle. Everything was tasty including the broccoli. How on earth can plain broccoli have si much flavour?? A big thankyou to the staff as they could easily have turned us away. And great things produced in the kitchen 👏👏👏

Just had a meal here and have to say it's one of the best steaks iv ever had (fillet).

Gorgeous food, lovely friendly staff and the cocktails were perfect!! Even better we got 50% off food with the January deal!!!

We will definitely be returning xxxx

I had the Australian fillet and my oh my it was really good. The flavor was so rich and smooth. I orded a bernaias sauce with it but I didnt need it, it was so rich with juice.

Had a good experience. Full use of the "Blackhouse" card huge 1kg tomahawk steak and some starters , couple of semi cocktails and a bottle wine. Mid week celebration. Food was good , service was good too. Slight miss understanding with a drink but hey these things happen. Would recommend highly.

First time I’ve been to the restaurant. Two for one on cocktails followed by the best steak dinner I’ve had. My partner and I did push the boat out and ordered from the premium steaks but it was worth every penny. Will definitely be coming back again!

Booked a table for 7 of us on Saturday , had a superb meal the toma hawk steak and porterhouse steak where cooked to perfection complements to the chef.

A big thank you to the lovely waitress who looked after us all evening

Booked a table for 4 at grill on the alley but due to an incident in the city centre we were moved to the grill on New York street. This is usually our first choice anyway but email from grill on the alley said it would cancel my membership if i didn’t book a table. We come here a lot so thought the email was unnecessary.



Needless to say. We were not disappointed. Table for 4. Starters mains and dessert was amazing. The service was amazing as usual. Same time next week.

The service is pretty good, and the mash potatoes are excellent, as are some of the starters and olives. The mains are a touch over salted ( for my tastes ), and a medium rare steak is likely to be cremated

Service was excellent. Went for my birthday meal. Unfortunately I was expecting more from my steak, it was slightly over cooked, and there was a lot of grissle. The steak was knocked off the bill, the manager was very apologetic, and handled the complaint well. Apart from that everything else was good.

Ok beef , we had to send one back it was well done instead of medium . Was no problem got new, but waited for 10 minutes so i Was finnished with my food before my friend got his correct order . Waited 45 minutes to pay the bill . This was a saturday so a lot of people but still to long for waiting for the bill. And we was not offered dessert menu.

Have a black house membership and unfortunately probably won't be using it again. Shame as usually love to come when we come to Manchester but last couple of times not great and tonight our fish and chips were poor. Grey sloppy fish, soggy batter swimming in grease. Lovely bar and restaurant and waitress was ok but not overly happy. Disappointing visit, what's happened GONYS? ☹️

Food was a bit mediocre, steak was slightly burnt. Service was pretty slow too. It's a shame coz I've been here before and it's always impressed. Im guessing because it was 50% off so a bit busy it meant that things weren't up to scratch

Went for my wife’s Birthday on the 16th Dec never felt letdown so much food was good but with it being the Xmas period we were lodge between 3 Xmas parties instead of being seated elsewhere.



This spoiled the whole experience we had people getting up and down all night backsides in your face and bad language from the other table surely we should of been seated away from the parties.

Very disappointing meal - child-size portions, expensive and burger (@ £18) was overcooked and dry. The only good point was that it was the last day of their 50% food discount for January otherwise I would not have eaten the burger at all.

Used to love coming here - however in June this year I booked a table online using my 'member benefits' after getting an email about the re-opening night with special discount... to be telephoned a week or so later saying they had got the times wrong on line, and I couldn't have my table at the requested time. As I was going to a gig I couldn't choose a later time, and they wouldn't let me transfer the discount offered to the other restaurant. Okay so wasn't too concerned about that at the time ... but now get an email saying that my membership is being cancelled unless I book again end of September ... I don't think so .. poor and shoddy in my mind !! Lot's of other places to eat in Manchester .. and won't be using Blackhouse again !!!
