Had a great time. Food excellent, service excellent for a sunday lunch on a sunny day packed with people. Highly recommended

User

Great place to sit, drink, eat and relax watching the Narrow Boats slowly float pass on the Grand Union Canal. Some vessels lovingly steered and then "Captain Pugwash" arrives....let the entertainment begin!

User

Great early afternoon fish and chips, don’t worry about the staffing, they know what there doing, just enjoy the food in a lovely setting, 5 stars x

A little late I’m afraid but thank you so much. We came to you for Mother’s Day and honestly had a fabulous meal. It was rounded off by lovely gift bag with a gin and tonic for me to have when I get the opportunity to put my feet up. I’m looking forward to that. Thank you again so much had a lovely meal

Lovely setting by the canal, friendly staff, great food and good music

User

Had lunch there yesterday and the setting and pub were lovely, there was live music and the place was very busy. We were seated quickly and our order taken but it took about 45 mins for even or starter to come out. When it did come out the food was tasty and hot. I would go back again and recommend it just don't be in a rush.

User

Fab food and service our waiter was a star last night. Thank you.

Went to the firework night on saturday 4th nov 17...these were really lovely and very enjoyable although some music playing would have been nice. I brought r 2 cokes, a lime and soda and 2 bags of crisps and i was charged £9.80 which I think was really expensive considering the bar staff told me that the soda was free!! Didnt get à chance to try the bbq it was in an awkward position plus you couldnt get to it through all the tables chairs and people...it should have perhaps been located elsewhere.

User

We've stopped here often for drinks and sometimes nice BBQ food as it's so lovely by the canal on a sunny day but this time made me think again. It cost £13.80 for one glass of wine and a pint of beer. Outrageous price for a round. The wine was over nine quid - more than the equivalent bottle of wine!

User

Very pretty setting , we sat in the garden my friend and I ordered separately , my food came before hers despite her ordering first , my roast was luke warm but didn't complain , I had eaten all mine before she even got her meal , despite us chasing it up with two waitresses , her fish arrived inside was raw had to be sent back !! I had ordered pudding and was eating this when she eventually got her meal !

Poor show on number of staff. They were run ragged. It’s a hot bank holiday weekend. Surely you could plan for that? Took 30 mins waiting at the bar to even order and 1 hour for food to come out. Bar service was slow as the poor staff were doing everything else too. At one point nobody was behind the bar at all with 3 long queues. Had we not walked here we’d have jumped in our car and left. The staff and food were good, but really poor planning I’m afraid.

Called in for lunch at 2.45pm to be told no food till 4.30. Then they changed this to 3.15 but with a limited menu. Stood at bar ...told you are 2 minutes early (3.13...but happy to wait) so staff member moved to serve at the other end of the bar and took their food order at 3.14! First choice, not available so chose another option.

When sandwiches arrived the Mozzarella, tomato and pesto sandwich came with dry bread and no pesto. When raised with the staff they checked with the kitchen...they had run out of pesto! Had we been told that this sandwich wasn't actually available either, a different one would be chosen. Very disappointing.

Lovely setting, shame about the poor service.

We had a meal here yesterday and to be fair it was not great . We have visited probably 7 times in 18 months and the food had always been average apart from a roast a few months ago which was good but not excellent . Yesterday's meal was below average, the fish was tangy and my plowmans was definatly not a typical plowmans ! Cold soup, two slices of cheep cheddar , two slices of very thin ham, a bit of green and the most sour pickle, oh and one bit of bread !! The menu has changed and is not great at all ! Nice pub in nice surroundings but needs to have a major rethink on quality . The service was average and we was not happy at paying £24 pound for a cheep Sauvignon ...

User

Visited on 21st June 18 and experienced extremely slow service. Ordered the posh fish fingers for lunch and this appeared to be quite greasy and the bread was slightly stale.

I first started to come here around 14 years ago when it was an amazing pub with fabulous staff and food, its been taken over so many times since then and has just never been the same. I hadnt been for a couple if years as kept hearing bad reviews, but decided to go for sunday roast today for a change.. the staff were very busy but also very helpful... then the kitchen forgot my starter and my sons food then i got the wrong drink and, ok so it happens.. myself and my mum had the roast beef.... 4 lovely big slices of beef on the plate... yum... unfortunately 1 of them was a massive chunk of fat .... neither of us could eat it, the beef was cold and the veggies really non existant.... we then got charged for an extra beer.... the staff were run off their feet and were very busy just lack of communication between them. As a pub for a drink on a sunny day with snacks it fab... but over priced on everything..

User

Great service last night (15/6) from the barman who clearly needed an extra pair of hands. Sadly what let them down was the manager who was more interested in filling glass wash machine and looking at her guests waiting to be served by the lone barman. When she did finally help him it was sadly with a stone face, no care for her guests or customer service.

We have eaten at Grove many times over the last 5 years & always been welcomed & had yummy food. Yesterday is another story however...

New staff not knowing what they were doing, didn't know what drinks they served, loud waiting staff who could use a few lessons in basic waiting etiquette!, ridiculously small portions & food of a poor standard & presentation. Not impressed, especially as we had family visiting. They were equally as unimpressed ! Very pricey for the portion sizes. Who is overseeing the new staff ? Surely food should be checked by them before taken out to customers ?! Very disappointed!
