Happy Birthday to the M6 which is 60 today! The Preston Bypass was Britain's first stretch of motorway to open #OTD in 1958 and would later become part of the M6. This model shows it majestically sweeping under Longridge Road.

Do you or anyone you know have Nigerian connections? We’d love to hear from you to ask how we can improve this Igbo Shrine Sculpture display at the Harris. What does it mean to you and what should we display alongside it? Please message us to get in touch.

Whenever in Preston with my grandson we visit..he loves having a look around and interacting with the quiz about the elk and looking at everything. We also played ludo.He likes listening to the old stories on the phones also. When he's older I hope he appreciates the art gallery too.

We went to a special autism session at the Dino bricks exhibition, it was fantastic the kids loved it and the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They clearly put a lot of thought and effort into making it autism friendly. Thankyou to the Harris Museum and staff we really do appreciate it.

User

We had a great day, the exhibition was excellent, we called into the cafe which had a good selection of food and drinks at a very fair price.

User

We absolutely love coming to the Harris museum and art gallery - there's always something interesting and new to look at, as well as our old favourites too. Even walking up the staircase is interesting as we tread where so many thousands of others have gone before us, enough to wear down the stone steps! We loved the public art collection we saw today. There definitely wasn't any more room left on the walls for any more :D Keep up the good work!

User

Visited the museum with my 9 yrs old granddaughter to see the dinosaur exhibition. We were very impressed.!! My granddaughter picked up one of the activity sheets and thoroughly enjoyed trying to find the eggs so that she could solve the puzzle finding the name of the dinosaur, also visiting all the different exhibitions. We go to the museum quite often and always enjoy the visit.

User

Very first time we been ! Is fantastic, we want go all time!

User

Took my son to the Lego brick dinosaur exhibition and after not expecting much, we were really impressed. The building is beautiful and there is a variety of things on display, the dinosaur exhibition is fabulous, the Dino's are interactive with sounds and there's lots to do for young children, such as a Lego, sand pit, colouring etc. We put some money in the donation box after enjoying it so much, it's a shame they don't have things like this to entertain young children on a more permanent basis, when it's as good as the Dino one I wouldn't mind paying to take my son. I asked what's going to be in place of the Dino's and I was told water colours. When it's such a large museum it's a shame there isn't a regular section for children.

User

The Dino Bricks exhibition is fantastic; so well made! My boys, aged 2 and 7, both loved it individually. They spent a good couple of hours here and entered the competition so we are keeping our fingers crossed for an email back!

User

Pleasantly surprised as I haven't been for years, plenty to see, interactive things for the kids, the dinosaurs part is a great add on. And it's free. Perfect way to spend an hour or 2 ☺️

User

Not been to the Harris museum since I was a child, when we moved to Blackpool ,so today's visit was well worth the trip. The dinosaur Lego exhibition was brilliant. My grandson didn't want to leave at closing time and have promised him a return next week, before it finishes. I even found a photo of my Aunty Shirley in the Horrock's display which was very nice. What happened to the ball, in the now cafe, that used to swing(sorry don't know what it's name was)? Brilliant visit

User

My friend Louise and I came down from Carlisle yesterday and found your Museum by chance. What a beautiful place you have, full of treasures and wonderful for Children. We will be back for another visit. :)

User

Many thanks to the young ladies on duty in the Walk through Preston display and in the art gallery for their excellent interaction with my grandson William this morning. He thoroughly enjoyed his visit as we did too.

User

I was surprised at how interesting the museum was. I was expecting more of an art exhibition but was very pleasantly surprised at the range of exhibits.

The displays regarding Preston and the surrounding area were great, and seeing the ancient Elk that was found in Poulton and had the Weatherspoons pub named after it was fascinating.

User

I thought The Harris was really good and the exhibits were brilliant.

User

I really enjoyed my visit today and perhaps the most beautiful building in Preston, it's important to teach our children about local history in an innovative and creative way. We particularly enjoyed the interactive area where we could draw building's in around our city and my 14 yr old enjoyed playing with the green screen. The Harry potter exhibition was small scale but fun regardless.

Fantastic place to visit have a bite to eat and the museum is ftee.. .a no brainer!

User

I haven't been into the museum for years and decided to go in with my little boy on the spare of the moment. It was fantastic we both really enjoyed it. Would recommend it to anyone

User

I have so good memories from my time as a trainee in 2006.

User

I have been coming to the Harris since i was a kid and I still enjoy having a potter round regularly. The library services and general staff are friendly and helpful.

User

Although i didn't have much time here, I so enjoyed what I got to see. The galleries are remarkable and what a treat to see the prehistoric artefacts. Certainly gave me a different aspect to Preston. Finding out more about the docks was interesting too. The glassware exhibits are stunning to look at and I wish 'dI had more time to really inspect them more closely. I loved the costumes over the years exhibition and feel it holds it's own with many I have seen in London. The atrium is lovely and the decorations along the walls are superb. I so much enjoyed seeing the pendulum and the beautiful clock. The exterior of the building is suitably imposing and lends an air of seriousness to the fabulous collection within. What a treasure. I can highly recommend a visit.
