We’ve just got home from the most fabulous evening. From the moment we called to ask if dogs were welcome to walking thru the door half and hour later we could not have been better looked after. The food was incredible and beautifully presented. Really tasted as good as it sounded on the menu and as good as it looked on the plate. The children thoroughly enjoyed their food and were so warmly regarded by the staff, made the experience all the more special. We will be returning very soon I’m sure and will be recommending to everyone we know. Thank you so much for making us so welcome and taking such great care of us, love from The Bakers x

User

Went for a meal last night food and service was fantastic the bread nibbles with oils was lovely but made a mistake choosing the large fish and chips which was beautiful but huge ! Lovely fresh fish and great chips in proper dripping need to remember not to eat anything for a week before having it again highly recommended

User

The Highwayman never fails to satisfy. Staff always lovely and welcoming, food always delicious and tasty. Thank you for another lovely lunch today!! My mum was gutted she became unwell and couldn’t get a main. It was her birthday meal, we’ll just have to come back !! Xx

User

Stopped of at the highwayman on a drive out excellent service very friendly staff and the food was excellent, I had the hotpot with red cabbage and my partner had the cheese pie with jacket potatoe and side salad , absolutely fantastic food we both enjoyed it, I would recommend this place to everyone, you will not be disappointed

User

Really good meal with a lovely lemon posset for pudding. Attentive staff. Looking at booking a room for a family get together here. Good ale but would be nice to see another brewery along with Thwaites

User

Nibblies superb. Crispy squid in limec& chilli batter and assortment of mini bangers with mustard mayo. Yummy.

Then roadt cod loin with crushed new potatoes. Delish. Dessert was the lovely chenin blanc. We'll be back.!

User

I visited here last night with my son and his partner. While they were home from university I wanted to treat them. And we were not disappointed. Excellent service and fantastic food. Our waiter was absolutely lovely. They had run out of a few things on the menu. But there was still plenty of choice available. I only live at grange over sands. So do visit here when I have family home. I will definitely be back soon to try there Christmas Menu.

User

I had dinner here on Friday night and I couldn't fault it. The food was good & affordable. The service was quick (not too quick), efficient & the staff were pleasant and knowledgeable. I'd recommend the highwayman to anyone. You won't be disappointed.

User

Had a fantastic lunch with friends, on Saturday. Food was excellent, topped by good beer and great company. Highly recommend, but wish I could keep this little gem to myself.

User

Excellent food. My partner ordered the pigs head and he said it was the most delicious meal he's ever had.

My salmon was perfect. I could have eaten it twice over.

Staff were attentive and polite.

Would definitely recommend this place yo anyone.

User

Been to the highwayman many times and we've never been disappointed. Really good food and service. I particularly love the cauliflower fritters with curried mayo. Just a word of warning if you're veggie and ordering a side of chips, make sure you specify vegetable oil otherwise they're cooked in dripping.

User

After hearing good things about the Highwayman I was intrigued to find out what all the hype was about. I had the Cheeky pie, the Mrs had the Ribeye and the kids had two childrens meals, all four were fantastic. ( I was a chef for 8 years so I tend to nitpick when eating out, I found nothing to complain about) the staff were helpful and very accommodating. All in all a lovely lunch out, we can't recommend highly enough.

User

Absolutely superb. Had just spent a week in London and this was the best eating experience of the week. A special mention to our waitress Kat who couldn't have been more welcoming, attentive and helpful. The food and atmosphere was superb and I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

User

My wife and I called in en route back home from a weekend in Edinburgh, I hadn’t reserved a table so due to it being quite late on Sunday afternoon (3.30), thought we’d chance it, and we were accommodated without fuss. Luckily there was still some Sunday roast beef available, and I was asked if I prefer pink or well done, (I really like that little touch), and my wife ordered the salmon. I have to say that prices for lunch are a bit high for a pub, but both meals were excellent and I would highly recommend the quality of the food. Downside, had to ask three times for mustard, and two gentleman at a nearby table had similar problems with drinks, ketchup and horseradish requests, eventually one of them gave up on the horseradish. Otherwise, a very good Sunday lunch experience, and would visit again.

User

I had the fish pie which was delicious and my husband had a burger which was also lovely . The staff were very friendly, giving our dog lots of treats. It would have been 5 stars if not for the fact that several options had been sold out, no hotpot, roast beef to name a couple and that would have been our preference. We'll just go earlier next time ;)

User

Birthday meal with my husband, for starters we had the squid and chorizo-plus Cumbrian ham and Waldorf salad amazing great flavours. Mains pigs head- Great loved it

Scampi using monkfish- monkfish lovely- chips bland and not cooked enough (I.e not crispy) but all in all enjoyable.

Deserts list bit disappointed nothing exciting bit same same as other places expected a bit more choice than sticky toffee, knicker bocker glory, cheese and whisky brûlée and ice creams and trifle and chocolate cake.

Drinks- bitter my husband had be enjoyed.

gin and tonic's nice gin selection not too much choice but could do better with present sadly they don't look like they do it pictures on facebook- 1/2 pint glass, small amount of ice and hard un squeezed lime!

We will return as we did enjoy our afternoon just a bit of attention to detail

Thank you

We haven't been for a while as we weren't happy the last time we went as the menu wasn't great. Came with a large party this Christmas and although we love the surroundings the food wasn't great and the staff seemed off hand at times. Not one to complain but we felt it was a shame as we used to love our regular trips!

User

Visited today for Sunday lunch. Was really disappointed with our roast beef dinners, beef was far to pink after asking for it to be cooked not pink. The meal lacked salt and flavour. Our sons fish and chips on the other hand was delicious we wished we'd had the same as him. Such a shame.

User

Went there last Sunday after a walk at ingleton falls.

The food was nice and we'll presented but cool. We spoke to the waitress and she took.it back. The second meal we received was still not hot. But we were hungry so ate it. Our plates were taken away quite quickly but We sat there for a further 10 minutes and nobody came to take our dessert order. We were on table 15. We had to move the cushion on top of each other to raise our seating as the seating was very low to the table when eating. What a shock the seating clearly had not been hovered in a while as was covered in crumbs!! And was dirty..

Yes food was good but service wasn't great. Sadly I felt you would need to be a regular to receive good service.
