A lot of you don't know that myself and Aria had an extended stay in hospital due to Aria not passing urine for almost 24 hours. This was extremely worrying as she was becoming more and more jaundice and wasn't waking for feeds. The midwives were excellent, taking her obs, monitoring her feeds & even cup feeding her, which was fascinating to watch. As her mum, I felt completely helpless. Then it dawned on me, reflexology!! I had always said that I wanted to work her tiny feet... as soon as she was born but with the hustle and bustle of an unplanned c section, it slipped my mind. I got her tiny feet out and proceeded to Zone walk her right foot, then her left and I added in a little treatment of her bladder and kidneys in the hope it would help her pass urine. A few hours later, Aria had her first wet nappy in almost 24 hours, & they kept on coming. Thank you for those still supporting my page, even though I've been a bit quiet of late. I hope you all enjoyed the Christmas break, and were surrounded by the ones you love and care for most. This year, I'm not making any resolutions as such, I'm just going to leave a few things behind in 2018 and concentrate on my happiness & wellbeing & allow myself to see positivity in every day throughout 2019.

It's with a heavy heart that I have to say this as I love what I do but it's time to take a break from Complementary Therapies.
It's becoming increasingly difficult to balance the business with family commitments, hospital appointments & general day to day chores as well as making time to relax, stay mentally & physically healthy & enjoy this pregnancy.
I will check in every now & then, & of course I will share the news when little pip makes her arrival.
... This isn't forever, Holistique Therapies WILL be back. This is my dream.

If only there was an invention to see behind someone's eyes and into their soul and show you the real them. An app that would allow you to see how someone is really feeling behind the smiley and pleasant exterior.
If there were, my guess is that you would see that everything in a different light. That mum that seems to have it all together, could be struggling & cry herself to sleep of a night. That family that seems so perfect, might be falling apart at the seams, that insta...grammer who's life you're envious of might be putting such a strain on her family that she wonders everyday why she started in the first place.

The answer to this is YES & NO.
While most pure essential oils are safe to use, when diluted, during pregnancy there are still a few that should be avoided.
These are
... Nutmeg, which may have hallucinogenic effects and react with relieving drugs in labour.
Rosemary, which is thought to increase blood pressure, and may cause contractions.
Basil, which is thought to contribute to abnormal cell development.
Jasmine and clary sage, which may trigger contractions.
Sage and rose, which may cause bleeding in your uterus.
Juniper berry, which may affect your kidneys.
Thyme, cumin, aniseed, citronella and cinnamon leaf should also be avoided as they could stimulate contractions.
There is no actual proof that any essential oils would be harmful to the unborn baby or the mum to be, as it would be completely unethical to test on pregnant woman, the advice is purely based on the properties of each oil. If you have used any products containing any of the above essential oils, don't panic, you will be perfectly fine. The dilution in over the counter cosmetics & shower gels etc isn't strong enough to cause any effects.

On days like today, I can easily forget that you're in there little pip. With the housework, washing, baking, playdoh, puzzles, drawing, kisses & cuddles, your little kicks can sometimes go unnoticed. I've been feeling a little out of kilter lately so thought that I would use my crystal pendulum to see if any of my chakras were out of balance.
I wasn't surprised to find my root, sacral, solar plexus & throat chakras all needed opening as they are the ones that always go out of balance. My third eye chakra, was also a bit sluggish.
