Well itŌĆÖs been an whirlwind 48 hours!
For those of you who follow our page or the local Billinge Community page you will be aware of comments in respect of our recently published EHO Food Hygiene Rating Scheme
If you werenŌĆÖt then let me update you
... We had a EHO visit on the 11th September where we were awarded a 0 rating
We were, and remain, devastated by this
The specific reason for that terrible score was we had field mice activity in the pub.
We immediately instigated a full clean and disinfection of the premises (closing the next daytime to do so) and took expert advice on how to ensure this couldnŌĆÖt happen again
We have an excellent working relationship with our eho and they have been very helpful and I am happy to report we are in the regrading process and are waiting for our revisit and re score, With regular professional visits and increased daily systems checks we have eradicated the problem but given our location by the woods,farms & countryside we remain very vigilant
I have answered a couple of people on messenger who quite naturally have seen the score yesterday and asked me what has happened and I have told them (in shorter terms!) what I have written above
I am confident we have resolved the issues and am happy to discuss this with any customers or local residents who wish to, even if theyŌĆÖve never visited our little old pub.
I would like to finish with saying how overwhelmed me and the team have been with the messages of support from locals, and both friends and strangers on social media in the past days, I do feel a bit like Jimmy Stewart at the very end of ŌĆ£itŌĆÖs a wonderful lifeŌĆØ ( look it up itŌĆÖll make you cry!) with all the support and for that I say a huge thank you, it is much appreciated

Myself n my husband called in yesterday we both chose a meal off the main menu . IŌĆÖve got to say our meals were delicious n plentiful, we will definitely be going back , and also the staff n service was brilliant x
Love this pub food and staff however I do think the waitresses should have there hair up when serving food.
Fantastic, great quiz everyone very friendly so much so we let all the other teams beat us. Seriously itŌĆÖs a great pub and Sunday lunch is really nice. Great staff you wouldnŌĆÖt be disappointed. ŌŁÉ’ĖÅ ŌŁÉ’ĖÅ ŌŁÉ’ĖÅ ŌŁÉ’ĖÅ ŌŁÉ’ĖÅ

Called in Sunday afternoon and had two pints of swordfish ale
A great drink and reasonably priced

Absolutely fabulous pub with a friendly welcome. Pub has a small childrens play area so the kids love it. The food is superb. Visited as a family of 4. The children loved their meals too. We had chicken goujons, wagu burgers and the chicken kebab. The chicken is marinated giving lots of flavour, freshly made garlic Nan bread was so soft, the wagu burgers were melt in the mouth tender. A little delay with meals as the kitchen was very busy but no problem waiting when sitting in a beautiful pub enjoy family time. Nothing was too much trouble. Lovely staff and always a warm welcome. Will be back soon.
Was disappointed on a recent visit for food. Think standards have slipped recently. Staff seemed very rushed, cutlery was dirty & we asked to change it, portion size & general quality of chicken kebab no where near as nice as last time I ordered it. Steak frites came with very few chips & no salad dressing. It was just ŌĆśokŌĆÖ but wonŌĆÖt be rushing back to eat IŌĆÖm afraid. Think pub needs a bit of a tidy up, just looking a bit shabby in places ’┐Į
Paid a visit to you guys today and found the Menu absolutely fantastic.
However, you're 'Home made' Chicken Liver Pate left me somewhat disappointed. I did ask that the Chef come out and tell me what was in it, but unfortunately he declined. The Fish and chips was quite nice and like I said your Menu looks fantastic, but the customer service needs to improve and so does your 'homemade Pate'
I can make it much much better myself and if you want a good recipe just give me a shout and I'll help you out ’┐Į
Came here yesterday with my mum and sister the food was nice although left feeling disappointed couldn't quite comprehend how after sitting outside for over four hours not one table was cleared of dirty plates/ glasses etc which resulted in swarms of wasps everywhere, ( we moved our own onto other tables) would have moved on if anywhere close in walking distance ( also makes you wonder how clean kitchen etc is) has put us all off visiting again.....found the staff disinterested and of little help.
