What a great find ....breakfast was superb ....and staff very friendly .....and what a great beer garden ....roll on summertime �

Visited with my daughter and granddaughters . Food was really nice and steaming hot. Brilliant end to our long weekend.

Table booked for 7 and all food arrived hot and on time. Really good quality food and drinks. Staff really friendly and helpful. We will be back again for another family meal soon.

I would like to say a huge heart felt thank you the Managers and staff of THE MERCHANT on the Strand who were most gracious and polite during our reception this week. The buffet was delicious and plentiful, the pub was clean, warm and welcoming, I would thoroughly recommend them to anyone looking for a venue in the near future

I went here for a meal and a few drinks with family. The food was amazing and all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go here again. Highly recommend

Had the rib eye steak in jerk sauce. It was a really great tasty meal, well cooked and well presented. The cocktails are lush too.

Came here with the family for breakfast. Had an absolutely amazing time! Food came out quick and was outstanding! Staff are really lovely and attentive! This place is under new management and has clearly improved massively! We will be returning lots!

Amazing place to go and have food and enjoy a cocktail or 2. I think it recently must of changed management because the service was brilliant, staff friendly and food was good quality. The atmosphere was perfect and me and my husband will definitely be returning when in the area.

My grandmas goat died in a terrible lightning strike and we needed cheering up. We all got dolled up and skipped on down to this pub/canteen. Smiles on our faces and with our heavy hearts we entered. There's no missiles in here grandad shouted, he actually scared himself so much he farted. Once we departed the cloud of granddads anus shame we were seated in a lovely booth. Hysteria at the table I thought as all 34 of us grabbed for a menu, fingers everywhere, I thought there's no room for mistake here john... you might get a small cut from all the sharp nails on the tips of all the different types of fingers. Food, was great, booze was great. We left kicking our heels and screaming granddads a sickness.

Had a meal with friends & a drink out recently. The meal was poor with soggy oily fish & cold chips . Service at the bar was poor. I don't blame the staff ; seen to be running around like headless chickens . More care please .

Came here on Saturday to do the cocktail making class for a hen party. Did not think it was worth the money that we paid for it, the boy taking the class was more interested in drinking and pouring his own drink and didn’t pay attention to half of us that were sat there so we had no idea if we were doing it right. Will give props to the karaoke though. Was best part of the night.

You REALLY Need to clean your lines.Tried 3 different beers and could not finish any of them the beer was so bad such a shame!! Went on to another pub beer was perfect

Visited here on New Year’s Eve and my family and I were treated very poorly by a very rude barman, I have emailed this pub with my complaint and have never received a reply, so rude, I would never go here again !!

They had investors put money into the place to update it !! And yes the decore looks good a big improvement on the clipper !! But the food is still crap ?? I had chicken and rib combo the chips were cold and hard and when I turned the ribs over they were over cooked and hard !! to say I wasn't happy is an understatement!! Got my money and left ! Won't be going back again!!

Me and my husband went there for something to eat I had the hunters chicken my husband had the chicken and rib combo .. the chips were overcooked the ribs were like charcoal so overcooked again !! The chicken for the hunters was proccessed the one piece of bacon was again overcooked ..we took it back to the bar where the bartender asked if we would like another meal we declined as we were going to the pavilion to watch a show and had no time this was a very disappointing start to our evening out

However the bartender did refund my husband for his meal

Many things not on the menu,no offer of alternative at same price that has been selected,staff rude and some food cold.Will never go back Trevor Skyner
