Whilst visiting family in Lancaster we choose to go to the Pendle Witch as we knew the pub had recently changed hands. The service was friendly and efficient, with a choice of seats in the bar, restaurant and beer garden. It's great to see the new manageress is very focused on delivering a great service to her customers.

User

Was in they last night for the first time great little pub and cheap too so think I'll be going more often

User

Nipped in for the breakfast offer - bacon sandwich and a latte £3.00 - and it was excellent.

User

Lovely bar very well decorated an plenty of window seating which is really nice. Found staff to be very friendly an made you feel welcome. Especially the young lady that took my food order an was serving in bar. Food was really good An came out warm an presentation was good. Very happy will return here next time I visit Lancaster.

User

I've eaten here a few times recently and have been thoroughly impressed each time. Friendly staff, quick service, delicious food at a very reasonable price.. I can recommend the burgers and the profiteroles.. now they were something else! Keep up the good work, folks!

User

2nd time visiting Lancaster and also 2nd time visiting the pub. Nice place, friendly staff and respectably clean. However, both visits it was too warm inside as I was practically sweating buckets. You’d get a 5 star review if there was air conditioning. Overall, I’ll still come back and next time may even try the food. Keep it up guys and gals! :)

User

Well what can I say.. after visiting last week with my partner. My daughter and grandsons. Lovely pub friendly atmosphere.. but food was absolutely shite.. onion rings soft as and lots of grease sent them back. Fish and chips oil needed changing for definate.. horrible taste.. actually personally messaged them.. no reply even though they said they would get back to me straight away.. shame.. would have gone back if the food was better and hadn't waited so long for starters.. won't be back again.. shame

While the food is fine, and the beer garden is quite a nice change in Lancaster, the staff that were in yesterday (Saturday evening) required more training. ID checking my brother and I when we are both well over 18, both look well over 25 by a barman that looked barely 15 was the highlight of the night. The barman became extremely irritable and snapped at my brother after making a cheeky joke when asked for his ID. He later gave me a feeble apology, and asked me to pass the apology on, not exactly the high standards you expect at a place with a fairly good reputation. If you're going to use the over 25 rule, base it on what you see in the mirror.

went for lunch with mum, we both had a hot drink and then waited 20 minutes for our cheese and tomato wraps. It was a kids size wrap with a bit of lettuce (and mum's had added paper in it!) one came with chips, which we didn't order, but glad because we needed to fill up. it really was pathetic looking. waitress wasn't bothered about our comments! not good value for what we got!

User

can truly say i won't call in this bar again, bar staff seen us come in, but choose to serve everyone else who come in after us, i'm all for keeping your locals happy, they are your bread and butter, but surely keeping new people happy is the same, i know your not going to lose much money from my visit, but i just hope your bar staff don't treat everyone like this

User

Went for a Sunday roast. Payed £13 to be fobbed off with aunt Bessie's and went for the pudding that was advertised at £2 each. Was told as I didn't purchase them at the time of buying the mains that the deal wasn't valid. All it says on the advertisement is that only available when ordering a main from the Sunday roast, which I ordered 3 of, so ambiguous. Didn't realise I had to decode offers before they are available to me. Staff were rude to me and rude about the situation, and very unhelpful. Waitress who served us was lovely though.

User

Waited ages to get served - to then find that there was loads of meals missing from the menu. Had to re-queue again after going back to choose from the menu - which took even longer the second time around. Only having one member of bar staff on, at 2 on a Saturday afternoon is ridiculous. When the food finally came, it wasn't how we had ordered it. A sandwich came in what can only be described as 'smart price' white bread, but was also swimming in salad dressing, the chips were also covered in black specks and had an awful after taste, leading me to believe the oil in the fryers needed changing.

Very disappointed and a total waste of money. Most of the meals were left uneaten. Avoid.

User

Never in my life have I been as rudely addressed as by the staff in this pub. Having waited more than enough time to be served by the single person behind the bar. Another member of staff then joined the bar and rather than asking who was next, chose to serve others who had wondered to other places and were clearly known to this particular member of staff. I mentioned, politely, to the original member of staff who had this point reappeared that it would be good if they could serve people in order. Only to get an ear full back and a threat of refusing to serve me from both members of staff. This is totally uncalled for, a simple apology from either would have been an appropriate response.
