Don’t bother cooking today come and eat our famous Sunday roast! It really is spectacular! Sit a while next to the log burner and melt into the chesterfield suite with a coffee afterwards.

Went because an American group I wanted to hear, Swampcandy, were playing there. Arrived two hours before the music so just managed to order food before they stopped serving at 7pm (it was a Saturday, think they serve until 8pm most nights). We had a couple of G&Ts which were served in half pint glasses with draught tonic but they did the job. However, the food was exceptional. Everything was homemade including the burger and coleslaw and was delicious. Special mention for the chilli which I'd make the two hour drive there for. It was the best we had tasted. Although it was a Saturday night and the bar became busy it was still a good atmosphere and the band were fantastic too. Had expected to have to pay to listen to them but entry was free and we stayed until 11pm to hear the second set it was that good. A great night!

We've always eaten well here & the food is consistantly fabulous. Today however, we were stopped from leaving Buxton & Gilbert's were the heroes of the hour. Two mini-buses descended on them & they fed us & were gracious enough to dim the lights & present the birthday girl with cake. Have some grateful & loyal customers now. Bring on the pies!

We had the belly pork with black pudding mash creamy cabbage and lovely gravy all cooked to perfection. So many great flavours. Loved the decor of the place and the staff were friendly and very attentive. We would definitely go again :) :)

We called in with our 2 dogs yesterday for coffee and breakfast. Never been before & what a find, lovely coffee and best bacon and egg barm! Just yum. It was a really sunny day so delighted they had an outdoor enclosed courtyard at the back of the cafe with lovely rustic furniture and shade for us and dogs. Definitely worth a visit - we'll be back.

Walked in on the off chance of Sunday dinner after a long weekend of camping, their were 8 of us all together (4 adults and 4 children) the staff were so accommodating quickly pulling two tables together for us, the young lady serving us greeted us with a smile and was an absolute star! The food was second to none, we all said the best Sunday dinner we'd had as we will definitely be back it was delicious.

Walked in here by chance as King's Head pub nearby was full. When we first entered, we were unsure of the fragrance in it, but the waitress's warm smile and helpfulness kept us there. She quickly put 2 tables together as there were 8 of us (including 3 kids and a toddler). Plenty of space to park a pushchair and still feel comfortable enough. The food was amazingly delicious, good sized and reasonably priced. My friends and I were very pleased with this discovery, will definitely come back again! 👍🏻

Superb place. A proper little gem of a bar on the marketplace with some beautiful features and great little touches. visited with my wife and 4 year old. Food was excellent, generous portions. Homemade Beef Burger was awesome. Will definitely be back soon.

Spent a crazy weekend in Buxton with my girl and met some fabulous people, Gilbys serves the best food, top quality produce. I had The! best roast ever! With cheesy leeks 😉😉😉😉😚😚😚 divine! Cracking place, great vibes great people ☺☺☺☺😊😊😊😊

Saturday night entertainment was great, very polite and welcoming staff, great beer.

Normally not a fan of Sunday Roasts at pubs/restaurants - normally dry and overcooked - but Gilbert's is a revelation!!!

Dauphinois potatoes and Pork crackling to die for! Brilliant atmosphere, super friendly & helpful staff - just excellent! Thank you so much guys � be back soon to get a taste of those pies ... �

Just been with 5 friends and eaten from the new’Pie Society ‘ menu - it was fabulous! Highly recommend. 4 of us had the chicken, leek & asparagus pie, 1 had fish pie and the 6th person had Shepherds Pie, all delicious and love how you pay one price with a choice of sides included! Chips were yummy too � A must to try and I am sure they will do well �

I was struggling with what to order as all sounds so yummy and my husband always picks best but this time I aced it with the amazing chilli. My 11 year old daughter's birthday so she was asked to pick the music. She loved that. Excellent food and service.

I love it when you go to a restaurant and the food is right on point. Great meal and great value. Well done guys!

Hi im carol i had taken a trip into buxton with my partner james for a walk around the lovely town today 23-7-2017 we came upon gilberts at about 2-3pm, we had the most beautiful meals we have ever had. The meal was beef roast dinner it was cooked to prefection the staff were fab very delightful great service fab lunch inside was great but the outside of gilberts just needs a little TLC but apart from that it was excellent xx👍

Had lunch here yesterday, Cajun chicken salad for me and steak sandwich and onion rings for my other half. Empty plates all round. Highly recommended! Very friendly staff and dogs welcome

Had a fantastic meal here this afternoon, two of us had delicious home made pie of the day made with steak that fell apart and stilton cheese in a lovely pastry case and one shin of beef with chilli, beautifully served with rice, salad, sour cream and even a few home made chips. Thank you to all of you who work there for making our meal something to remember on a damp dismal day!

Had Sunday lunch today at Gilbert's, i cannot put into words how good it was. The portions are amazing and all cooked to perfection. the staff were lovely and really friendly. It's a fantastic atmosphere in there and I highly recommend it, I'll definitely be back soon. Thanks for a lovely Mother's Day. ��

Absolutely the best Sunday dinner in Buxton. Staff are amazing, they looked after my baby so we could have dinner in peace � defo recommend this place walked out with very happy tummy �

The website shows starters and desserts are available but when we got here it was only beef, pork or nutroast dinner. To be fair the dinner was great, just disappointed about not much choice. Staff were friendly.
