Went last week for a leaving do and everything was wonderful...as usual. Reserved table was ready for us, food was incredible, and Steve's friendly, professional service was spot on. Will be back soon. :)

User

Went last night and had a 3 course meal from the set menu and it was absolutely gorgeous and very reasonably priced. Staff were also fantastic we will be back!!

User

Went for a meal with my husband last night, service was brilliant, very friendly, food was tasty and well priced too!

User

Lovely roast dinner, I had beef and there was loads of it. Pudding was cheesecake, salted caramel I think, and it was delicious. Sat in garden under a shady tree, tables were well separated. Going again soon.

User

Just had Sunday lunch at The rising sun. I can honestly say I’ve not had a Sunday lunch like it. The gravy was something else with lovely fresh veg and real roasties. Along with very friendly service. Perfect

User

Food was lovely and service was perfect such a fab welcome from they lady behind the bar will be back for sure xxx

Fantastic Christmas Day lunch was perfect couldn’t ask for more friendly staff as usual and great food , there was a slight delay which i expected as it was Christmas Day and the restaurant was full and other parties arrived late causing a slight delay.

I am a little surprised reading a few of the other reviews about this place and don’t get me wrong sometimes things are missing from dishes and there is a long wait for food however the staff correct this immediately and do everything they can

Keep up the good work guys and see you in 2018

Family get together before Christmas lovely food and nice service. Had a good laugh and chat with family didn’t realise how long the food took to come or drinks orders. Always had a good meal from the rising sun. We’ll be visiting again in the new year no doubt

User

Dropped in for lunch. Lots of character and great service. Had a perfectly cooked fillet steak, accompanied by a smooth bearnaisse sauce, with great depth of flavour. It was a wonderful meal, which will be my 'go to' choice when dining here in the future.

Curious to read complaints about ‘rudeness’ ?

I go in there with my workmates midday on Fridays and always get treated to a hearty reception.

We even selected there to take our new Spanish boss who’d never been to an English pub where she could eat.

Martin clicked onto this and served her personally (in her own language!) and served up what looked like amazing fish and chips to me. Everyone I see with food says it’s ace, it certainly looks it. Our guys alway have burgers and stuff which are fine.

Some cracking beers on too. I live 50 miles away and could drive back first but it’s always the first thing all the guys ask me on Friday, if we’re all going to the Rising Sun! It’s always disappointing if we can’t for whatever reason!

Can’t fault it myself 👍😀

Food was amazing all apart from the chips I had the mixed grill and wow all the meat was delicious then their was the so called chips. The service wasn't the best eather leaving me feeling awkward to ask for anything.

This comes with a big BUT the food and beer were spot on I'd highly recommend the steak cooked to perfection.

Sort your service out and please when you have fillet steak on the menu do real chips.

User

We are very local to the pub and used to eat here two to three times a week. Usually Lots of decent cask ales on. Food is improving but on Friday night 2.99 for two slices of garlic bread. I thought it was a joke and felt bad for the waitress who brought it to our table. It says garlic ciabatta and we got a ciabatta sliced in half then cut diagonally. Menu needs to correct to half a ciabatta. That being said rest of the food was great but service a tad slow. Hopefuly the appointment of new management will bring this pub back to its former glory

User

I have come here quite a lot in the past and leave good reviews but tonight very poor dirty plates and I have been sat here for two hours and everyone is complaining about the food what a shame

User

I booked the festive menu and did a pre order as requested & sent a week before. Arrived on time seated by a lady with blonde long hair, after half hr wait for starters asked where they were to be told there's a 40 min delay which we should have been told when seated. We were then told there they hadn't enough of 1 of the starters (obvs given 1 away to someone that hadn't pre ordered!). Starters arrived 45 mins late in total only to find out the soup was different (which they knew but again the lady that sat us didn't advise which if she had we could have sorted but instead then had to wait another 10 mins for another starter... Good job is was only because that person didn't like the soup not that they were allergic. To be honest the food was lovely and the young gentle that served our table was very good and apologetic... not his fault and dealt with it all very well. We wouldn't have been happy about a 45 min wait and the soup change but if advised when arrived and offered a free drink that would have been good service and we probably go back but not now even with a discount off the bill for the errors after complaining!

User

Disappointed with our meal tonight, I ordered a starter as a main and my husband and son had a main. The waitress came with the 2 mains and extra chips (mine) and said enjoy! After waiting 5 minutes I went to ask where my food was, a waitress said she'd find out. 5 minutes later, my husband and son had finished eating, I went again to see where my food was, a different member of staff said she would find out, 2 minutes later my food came with a "sorry, there was a mix up in the kitchen"!!

I found this an unacceptable responce after a supposed kitchen mix up. No heartfelt apology.

I won't be rushing back to eat here again as there is a public house within the same radius that gives a more professional service.

User

We booked weeks ago for our family Christmas meal. Was told that there was no need to prebook food. Arrived a 6:20pm we went to order and at least half of the Christmas menu was unavailable. Starters didn't arrive until gone 8pm. We had 2 very young children with us and they didn't even have all the items on the kids menu.

Not everyone stayed for their main meal....

We call this our local but we will never go back. Very disappointed you ruined our special meal.

User

Terrible service and long wait at the Rising Sun on Christmas Day for a pre-ordered dinner costing £57 per person . Our table was booked for 2 pm with us arriving at ten to two we were shown to our table and the drinks order taken our starter arrived at 2.25 with no sign of any drink order which eventually arrived 10 mins after our starter . Our main meal arrived at 2.55 which we finished at 3.20 at 3.50 our dinner plates were still on our table we went to the bar and asked for them to be cleared away which they were done by the bar lady . Still no pudding - at 4 the last order for drinks bell rang still no pudding, at this time staff were so busy cleaning up and oblivious to the fact that our table was still waiting , in the end at 4.10 I went to the bar and had to ask for our puddings which were then brought out in mins . As all our meals were pre-booked and paid for at the beginning of December so all covers should surely have been prepared so there was no wait ... we were told on going to pay our tab for drinks 10% would be knocked of the price of the booking .we would much rather have had an enjoyable Christmas dinner without the endless wait between courses . If you can’t handle all the bookings then don’t take them or get more staff in to provide a good service This is our third Christmas dinner here and the most expensive with no cheeseboard or coffee in the price . We will not be having our Christmas dinner here again all in all it was very disappointing .

User

Staff are rude, when asked to be served at the bar to be told they were not serving any more at 10am. When my dad questioned it, he was threatened to be thrown out by a very young immature boy. This is our local pub. We definitely want be eating again here. The beef eater is much nicer, with nice friendly staff.

User

Don't book online! When is a booking not a booking? When it is made online of course. Having previously enjoyed a nice meal here a few weeks ago I had booked a table for tonight for our annual Christmas celebration with a couple of friends. Despite having email confirmation of my booking we were turned away as they were fully booked. I was made to feel it was somehow my fault and we were told we should have booked by phone. I had in fact resorted to booking on line because my phone call went unanswered. Why have an online booking service if they then ignore it? What rankled more was that no one would take responsibility for their obvious internal communications problems. Truly appalling customer service. Ruined our night. Get your act together guys!

Staff are rude, when asked to be served at the bar to be told they were not serving any more at 10am. When my dad questioned it, he was threatened to be thrown out by a very young immature boy. This is our local pub. We definitely want be eating again here. The beef eater is much nicer, with nice friendly staff.
