Just love it here! Love the food the garden is just amazing my little boys favourite place! Weve has a few family celebrations here Staff are always polite can’t do enough! Especially the lovely Ellie! Always recommend

User

Good ale house with good atmosphere. Guinness went down well on St Patricks night

User

Living nearby, we’re desperate for this place to be our local. Beautiful location, great beer garden, cozy inside and the best play area. We’ve been a few times now and have had long waits for food and drinks and always had to sit on tables full of dirty glasses & plates. Please invest in more staff & make this pub great

User

It’s worse when you have chosen where to go and it turns out naff! The lady who looked after us couldn’t of been more apologetic but the lack on full menu so the poor employee had to come over multiple times to tell us sorry again & again, the wait time oh, and the leather steak (requested medium) took its toll.

User

Hottest Friday this year. Place is packed but only 2 staff serving. Big queue for a drink. People just walking out. Needs sorting

User

Great pub in lovely position it’s had a refurb, but it’s different food now .the waiting time for food is far to long and you get what you pay for .if you want really really good food and service then try the scarisbrick hotel just up the road from us past the scotch pipers .it is more expensive then again you get what you pay for .

User

What a shame. This fantastic pub is being let down by whoever owns it, or runs it. BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY... 3 staff on, run out of lager, run out of cider, run out if fruit shoot drinks for children. Need I say more. The place was filthy due to lack of staff. Does the management not read the reviews? You really should be embarrassed whoever you are.

User

Lovely pub, great position, friendly staff, but the food management is ATROCIOUS. Whoever is responsible for ordering the food needs some serious training, lots of items on the menu weren’t available including no hunters chicken, no prawns, no raspberry sponge pudding and no custard (basically everything we ordered!) a real shame as it could be such a lovely pub to go to eat at the weekend, or on a mid week evening

User

Came here today to have a Sunday roast but was told it would be a hour wait, not even that busy, but when at the bar there where a few customers complaining that they had ordered the food a hour and a half ago when they where told theirs would be a 40 Minute wait, and they where still waiting.

This is such a lovely pub so why don't you take on more staff/chefs to help out.

We left and ended up down the road at the Hare & Hounds.

User

have been going this pub for years an its always been a great day, but we visited yesterday the customer service from the assistant manager was dreadful an i will never step foot in there again

User

What is wrong with this pub. Great place for kids but seriously stopping food because they can't cope with orders. Not even as though it's packed. Either stop serving food all together and cut your loses or get a bigger kitchen with staff who can cope!!! Pathetic! This should and could be the best pub around but this food business and closing kitchen or waiting for food is terrible!

User

Very dissapointing yet again!! We have tried a few times but each time something has been wrong. Last night we asked how long the wait was for food we were told Half an hour...we waited over an hour. The pub wasn't busy so I imagine they do not cope well when it is busy. The tables outside were cluttered with glasses and plates and clearly hasn't been cleared for some time. They always strike me as being extremely understaffed. I wanted a chicken burger my husband went to order and came back to say they have no chicken at all!! When the food finally came my husbands fish was burnt to a crisp and served with garden peas and not mushy peas like he had ordered...the waitress then said sorry we haven't got any mushy peas left! We had waited so long we said we don't want another meal we will just have a refund. It's a real shame it could be a lovely place but we certainly won't be returning not to eat anyway.

User

The curse of this pub continues. We have been here on a couple of occasions over the past 7 years, each time it's been under a different management. Each time we have given it another chance hoping the new managment have gotten it right. However each time the food and the service has been appalling. He pub is good for a drink whilst the kids play in their play area however this is where it ends. We went at tea time on 18th August 2017 and were told the food was a 30min wait. We had 3 small children with us so this was fine. However we waited 60 mins. Then all our food came but my wife's. Who had to wait another 50mins for hers. A simple scampy and chips. I had to send mine back as they got my order wrong. Then when it came back i cut into my steak that I ordered as rare, to find it medium. After my wife waited nearly 2 hours for her food she asked for tartar sauce again to wait 30mins for that. In the end I had to take our youngest home to bed whilst my wife and son ate their tea. It didn't stop there. The place has been newly decorated however is very scruffy as the staff don't go out the clear or clean the tables. I visited the gents to find the urinal overflowing with urine. Now to make this happen on a Thursday afternoon means this must have been blocked for some time. Considering this pub is in a great pictureast location and cpuld ne amazing it really is poor. Gordon Ramsay wouldn't bother his arse trying to rectrafy it. If you want amazing food and amazing service have a lovely little stroll 200 yards long the canal to the hare and hounds, you won't be disapointed. Give this running horses a wide birth.

User

Shocking service, long wait for what turned out be distinctly average food. When meals arrived they came c5 mins apart and child's meal arrived last? Never again!

User

Minute we walked in told there was a 45 minute wait for food. We asked could the kids meals come out with the starter. Bare in mind the starter was only bread and we still waited over an hour. I had to buy crisps to try and tide the kids over. One of the kids with us fell asleep we waited that long, which is probably a good thing because the food was horrific. The macaroni cheese was frozen, plain pasta with grated cheese. Poor service too. Never ever will we go back. The chef came out of the kitchen staring at us because we complained, think he should of carried on cooking then maybe there wouldn't be hours waits on food in an empty pub.

User

I'm not one to complain but....... Lovely canal side pub but don't bother with the food. Our two meals took half an hour on a quiet evening to arrive. We then had to send them back as they were cold. The meals were then microwaved ...... The table next to us ordered three meals. One arrived, the second came 15 mins later and the sausage and mash minus the onions rings and gravy came an hour after it was first ordered. The gravy and onion rings then came as the meal was just about finished !! Won't be eating there again. Save your money!!

User

I would recommend not to eat there as we were just served four incredibly poor meals and we left very unsatisfied , the children’s meal was the worst mash chips and beans , the mash was totally inedible the sausages were burnt and remarkably even the beans were somehow destroyed in the cooking or should I say heating up process .

Apart from the location I this pub has nothing going for it and that includes the unhelpful staff.

User

I had tables booked for 6.30 yesterday evening for my sons 21st birthday with 15 members of my family.

We were ready to order at 7.10 and was then told the kitchen had closed and we had taken to long to order WHAT A JOKE.

I was standing there arguing with a woman who I can only presumed is the manageress but who is not capable of organising a p... up in here own pub.

If I was the owner I would consider employing someone with a let’s try and please the customer attitude I have been there on many occasions and seen extremely angree customers perhaps the owners need to monitor there employees more closely, and protect there investment

I have drank in that pub on and off all of my life and I would not go back there again and I hope this post will influence others not to go there!!

Not all the staff were as bad so thank you to the embarrased staff you don’t deserve your manager last night

Thank you to Dave and the staff at the Weldblundell for looking after us with 10 mins notice I think we probably spent over £300 in there with drinks

Don’t go the Runnies

User

Great pub to drink in, food is terrible. We went to order and was told an hour wait, bit strange considering the pub was empty. Was also told no white bread or bacon. While we was waiting I seen the chef come out and tell the bar maid there was no steak pie left, it's fair to say the guy looked demotivated and miserable, he looked like he couldn't care less to be honest. Food arrived and it was not great, my girlfriends scampi and peas where cold and the chips had salt over just a couple of them which was strange, alarm bells start to ring that they may have put chips on her plate from someone else's leftovers, surely they wouldn't? Would they?... The look on the chefs face makes me think he probably would. We complained and the manager said the chef seasons the chips which I don't believe because mine had no salt on them.
