The Spit 'N' Crackle Description
The Spit 'n' Crackle is a family run business in the heart of the lakes. Unlike most companies that just pop up and provide a generic service, The Spit 'n' Crackle has developed from the ideas of a young lad who learnt his trade as a chef in one of the Lake District pubs.
The other side of the family business has seen a farmer’s daughter grow up at the centre of the action, key to spotting what makes a good ingredient and also making sure that any produce has been cared for by like-minded people.
Our business is driven by passionate people who take pride in using the best local produce and who take pride in customer satisfaction.
Whatever your special event may be, The Spit 'n' Crackle would like to be a part of it and will not only provide you with the very best tasting ingredients to get your guests talking, but we will accommodate whatever your requirements may be.
Each package is bespoke, so go ahead, let your imagination run wild!

We have three purpose-built catering units where food can be cooked, prepared and served from at events.
Any kind of party can be catered for, including wedding breakfasts, hog roasts, BBQs, corporate days, show catering, buffets, christenings, afternoon tea…. You name it, we can provide it!
Rest assured, The Spit 'n' Crackle can provide you with a top quality service. All staff are trained in food hygiene, and we have been awarded 5 stars 'excellent' by the local Environmental Health Department.

Well it's the 11th year that Dave has helped us at the Heathwaite tournament in Windermere. This year we had 94 teams and they were all well catered for. Plus he gave us a generous donation to our junior football club. Many thanks and see you next year.
We have just had Dave do a full hog roast and BBQ at our Wedding at the Villa , not only was the food amazing but the service that was provided was perfect and our guests loved it.

The Spit 'n' Crackle have just done the food at our school summer fayre. Dave came to the rescue when we really didn't know where to turn, he provided the van, food and staff and generously donated a percentage of his profits to the school. The sun shone the food was great and we had a lot of happy families. Can't recommend the Spit 'n' Crackle service enough. Thank you Dave!

The hog roast was simply beautiful cracking!. Great to get back to with time frames could not fault them! Our owners loved it and will be booking again!

Dave sent Chris, the butcher, to do the hog roast for a festival we held for family and friends. He was brilliant and a pleasure to have around - was here all day cooking the hog. Also cooked burgers and sausage for those who had arrived earlier on in the day. All equipment dropped off a couple of days before and Chris arrived punctually on the day. The hog was delicious and it was lovely to have the stress of the food taken off us. Would thoroughly recommend them for any occasion you are having. They are reliable and very friendly - nothing was too much trouble for them.
Dave and crew have just done a hog roast for my dads 60th and we couldn’t of been happier... all guests. Farmers may I add we’re all complimenting on how well the pig was cooked... tender and moist with crackling like no other... Dave was very helpful and had it all under control.. Claire arrived later on in the evening to help serve very pleasant and just got on with the job... I would definitely recommend Dave and his team for events well worth the money.!!
Absolutely belting fish and chips. Seriously. Had 2 chances to eat them now and both times they were superb. Better than any chippy in Kendal in my opinion and on a par with the best I’ve eaten. Amazing to produce such good, freshly cooked fish and chips from a mobile unit.
Fresh haddock and you can tell. No soggy batter. No watery stuff coming out of the fish. Really crispy and not a hint of grease. Proper!
Incredibly fatty, when we did find what looked like a nice bit of meat it was so tough we managed to break our plastic fork in it!
