If you’re a fan of good food then the 16th of August has to be marked in your diaries now as The Tack Room gears up to welcome a special guest into the kitchen as we present another of our collaboration dinners. Off the back of the success of our first collaboration dinner earlier this year, we’re at it again and this time we have renowned chef Mark Poynton teaming up with our head chef Adam for a dinner that has us seriously excited. With the weather being so kind to us lately these Nourish Bowls have been flying out of the kitchen! Definitely proving to be a popular hit off our new menu.
Why not come try this deliciously fresh dish while the sun's out? Remember, you can add chicken or sea trout to bulk it up if you want to.

Life in the restaurant game is never dull. Each day comes with its own set of challenges and things change quickly. It's one of the reasons why we are constantly trying to up our game to ensure we stay in tune with current trends so that we can offer our customers a brilliant dining experience. Having already made some changes to our menu ahead of summer, we've used the last few weeks to take on some feedback from loyal supporters and Head Chef Adam and his team in the kitchen have been working hard at making improvements. Last year, our Head Chef Adam Spicer was named Chef of the Year in the Cambridgeshire Live Food and Drink Awards.
Nominations have opened for this year's awards and we'd be most appreciative if you show us some love by nominating us in the restaurant category or help Adam defend his crown.

Our award-winning head chef Adam Spicer has been working hard at developing the menu we offer and this is one of the latest delicacies at The Tack Room.
The soft-shell crab taco is a mouth-watering new offering, among a load of new additions, and is definitely worth trying.

Hurry and reserve your seats at £55 per person for this exciting evening with Corney & Barrow and Barossa Boy Wines. lovely coffee set in the beautiful grounds of Rainham hall. Park in Tesco's and walk across through the church yard and turn left. Set in old barn in a cobbled court yard. Reasonably priced and good quality food.

User

What a grea place to eat lovely surroundings friendly efficient staff and good value for money. Lived near Newmarket for 20 years best dining experience so far we will be back with friends.

User

Visited The Tackroom for a meal following a day at the races. Attentive staff, great selection of Gins for an aperitif and the food was tasty - the portion size was spot-on for my appetite. Will definitely be returning. Loved being able to sit and watch the horses in the stables eating their dinner as we ate ours.

User

Really nice atmosphere. Yummy light lunch that was well presented with a fast service. Will recommend.

User

Popped in for Sunday lunch with the family , good choice of menu and decent sized portions although not overly large for the guys , staff were pleasantly attentive whilst live jazz played in the back ground. Can hardly wait to repeat the experience . Bravo

User

Lovely, great staff. Just great. Attention to detail, spot on.

User

Lovely setting , polite and efficient staff , Gin and Tonics were the best I’ve tasted , can’t recommend this place enough.

User

Loved it, eating & watching the horses. Staff lovely, great food (I had a full English breakfast and I am still full 9hrs later!) nice room and space. Can really recommend it.

User

I have just had the best eggs benedict in town, simply delicious! The staff are warm and friendly and the decorations for Christmas are tasteful. Well done The Tackroom.

User

Found last minute on line and they manage to fit me in for mother's day along with my mum and step father. The food was fabulous, service excellent and the most amazing atmosphere. Everyone agreed. Which is a rarity lol thank you to the staff for helping me make mothers day special

User

Cannot recommend this place enough! Brilliant food, fantastic gin selection, professional and friendly staff, and a beautiful location. Evening meal and Afternoon Tea both absolutely delicious. Can't wait to go again!

User

We were told to come here by the person that owns the New Wellington pub as he was not serving food tonight . What pleasant surprise great service and amazing staff (Alex really looked after us) felt at home.

Food was delicious and good portions.

Also must add the toilets were great - clean and the soap & hand lotions smell great

User

We had visitors from Oslo, they were enchanted with The Tack Room, both our vegetarian dishes were delish and the fresh cod with chorizo crumb was superb - coming from Norwegians that is indeed high praise! What lovely kind staff both women were helpful and friendly.

User

Very friendly food good. I have to say that's one if the best sausage sandwiches I have ever eaten. Not too much atmosphere in back.

Their bread was lovely but sandwiches are on sour dough or I think ciabatta so if you want normal bread or a roll didn't see it on menu.

Not a selection but very good and the food we saw going to other tables looked good. Not the cheapest place in town. Will definitely go there again. I have to try fish finger sandwich and their sour dough is amazing.

User

Popped in here for coffee , was pleasantly surprised it was lovely , also had fruit scones which were scrummy, staff very pleasant, will definitely be my place for coffee in newmarket !! Will be lovely when it's sunny and warm sitting outside in the courtyard , it's about time newmarket had a nice place like this !

User

It was my first visit and i really enjoyed it. Loved being able to see the horses whilst enjoying a delicious cheese scone!

User

Food was fantastic but we booked a table for 1345 and didn't sit down till 1445 with only a rushed sorry as we we chased for the 3rd time.. but can't fault the food at all.. after 2 quiet words we did receive 10% off of our bill which was a nice gesture.

User

Come on The Pantry, you have a great reputation in town but this just wasn't on. The Sunday lunchtime service was ridiculously slow; there appeared to be plenty of waiting staff but many of them were in a daydream. Don't ask a party if they would like to order drinks and then stand gazing out of the window. Then take half an hour to serve said drinks. How on earth does it take very nearly 2 hours to produce 4 roast dinners. Did you run out of beef and have to start again? The food, when it arrived was , mostly, pretty good. The starters were good, fish stew was delicious, the beef was hit and miss - some good, some very fatty but the Yorkshire pudding and vegetables were excellent. No horseradish was offered, we had to ask and were given a tiny pot between all 4 of us! Our resigned faces must finally have been noted and a second pot was subsequently brought to the table. I was hoping for much better.

User

Really slow service unless they like you or think you are important. Very disappointed they honestly need to remember they are running a restaurant not a private members club. I would have been embarrassed to have served that quality of ingredients to customers. They haven’t even got the manners or intelligence to hide there snobbery.

If you pay those prices you expect quality food and 5star service. Here you don’t get either.

Leaves bad impression of Newmarket to visitors especially as it is attached to the museum.
