Went in yesterday ( Sunday 28th Jan ) for lunch it was about 12 ...was quite busy it was surprising to see . Never been before very friendly staff even pleasant customers ( nice to see )

Ambience was welcoming and was surprised how big the pub was hidden corners everywhere.

Ordered of menu plenty of choices to choose from and cater for all dietary requirements.

We waited for approx 1/2 hour which wasnt that long when it arrived it was worth the wait ...pleasantly presented and HOT HOT HOT .

Think it was a manager young lad asked us if everything was okay .

Response compliments to the chef it was delish

Will defiantly be returning soon

Thank you for making our visit enjoyable

The Chicken trio burger is delicious, i can no longer choose anything else off the menu. I've probably ordered it over 7 times (however, probably less than 10). Excellent TVs and projector for the sports. Usually quick bar service, even when it's really busy.

My first time in the Wellington really nice feel about it. Lovely lady behind the bar. Rather busy on her own on a warm evening. Still she was very friendly and warm.

In light of reviews on this page , can I just say this bar is one of the friendliest I have ever had the pleasure to drink in ... And I drink there three days in the week

There are regularly a large number of disabled customers, often with carers who have attended this bar regularly for as long as I have been a customer, some several years now.

We all frequent this amazing bar for the friendly atmosphere! .

Can we please not let this recent incident detract from this bars perfect customer service record.. Year after year

Please try the wellington for yourself delicious food, friendly staff and superb customer service is offered to all.

I went to the Wellington with my boyfriend for a meal and the food was brilliant and the staff was excellent I will definitely be going again

User

I absolutely love the Welly! Brilliant local pub, always come to watch the footy which is made even more enjoyable by the MASSIVE HD projection screen. Very reasonable prices, food and drinks alike. I'm a burger regular and they are always lovely, especially the chicken trio burger (starting to drool now...). Staff are consistently lovely and polite and the range of entertainment offered is great. If you're in the area and this isn't your local, there must be something wrong with you!

User

Brought my lad in for tea had fish and chips and gammon and eggs and was spot on as always nice friendly staff too...would recommend coming here for sure

User

Been going in this pub for over 5+ years escorting as a carer and also with my family. Myself and company have never been treated badly the staff we came into contact with were without prejudice and service was excellent I can also probably vouch for 40+ colleagues

User

The food was good as me and my guests from up North came to visit me and ok them there for the evening meal which the staff were present to us the beer was good too we defo will be back soon.

User

Would never go again thought the place was awful. Christmas table sat at back right in the middle .what looked like Christmas wrapping paper for table covering. Couldn't see any other bookings. Couldn't comment on my meal as didn't touch it . What I saw coming out looked awful & belive some of it was . I would rate the place a 1 & would not be going again.

User

Popped in for something to eat and were disappointed. Although it didn't seem too busy, there was still a 45 minute wait for food. We may have been mistaken, but it looked as if they were doing take-aways, which may explain the delay? Crisps and nuts were all we got to eat. We will call in next time we are in Bury, but will be checking the wait, before we order a drink this time.

User

Nice pub called in for a drink and chat

went there yesterday at 4.30 pm for a family meal,it was not busy but there was a 40-45 minute wait for food, there was 3 adults and 1 child,1 adult and 1 child's meal came eventually, the other 2 meals arrived after the 1st two meals had been finished, decided to have a dessert we were refused as no more food orders were being taken it was 6.35 pm,apparently they were not coping with the demand? what demand? it was quite,we heard that even customers were complaining as they were not getting served drinks, clearly a lack of staff, the manager was we heard in the kitchen, menus still on tables, other people coming in for food only to be turned away,on the next table to us a family had bought a bottle of wine, luckily not opened when they were refused food they took it back for a refund and told us they were off to the Chinese buffet in Bury, the child in our party had the set children's meal which included a dessert, we were told we could have that, after a half hour wait we went up to the bar and asked where it was,we had to ask 3 times and in the end we told them we are not leaving the bar area until we get it,eventually after 45 mins it came,we were going to leave it at one point as we were fed up of waiting,we left the Wellington at 7.45 pm,still people were arriving expecting food only to be turned away, the ironic thing was they were still cooking in the kitchen? we were told by someone they were take away orders,we have been going in the Wellington for decades but only recently it has been a disappointment,on other occasions they have not had certain items on the menu, the people next to us said they came in a 12 noon one day to be told they were not serving food until 2 pm as they were waiting for the order to arrive, its terrible also it usually warm in the Welly but last night it was freezing and we all kept our coats on,shame as this pub use to be great for everything, slowly standards are slipping,Green King get more and better staff!!!,out of the four of us 2 were sick in the night- was it the food?

"Tonight I have been left completely stunned by an act of blatant discrimination at the hands of the Wellington hotel Greene King pub in bury.

I am a carer for an 18 year old girl with complex needs. We go to a group every week specifically for people with physical disabilities and complex needs. Tonight we attended the monthly meeting in which members of the group can discuss activities they enjoyed and did not enjoy as much during the previous month; have a chat and a catch up; and have some food and a drink together. Although we personally have not attended a meeting at this pub previously, we have been informed that the group does go there and they know the organisation. Tonight, however, as we arrived were told that we were unable to order food. Confused, I confronted one of the members of staff behind the bar. She informed me that in their bookings diary our group had been noted down with the side note of 'no food'. When I asked why this was the case she said she was just following instructions not to take any food orders from our group and that the chefs said that they would not make any food for us either. Although I explained that most people in the group just wanted a side order: a snack to nibble on, and that we weren't expecting it to all come out together, she still refused service. To add insult to injury when I asked what would happen if a rush of people came through the door and wanted to order food? She replied that she would serve them food and tell them there was a wait. When I asked why this was different for our group I did not get an answer. Complete refusal to serve us.

For a group of people without handicaps this would be outrageous. However, as our group were being dropped off and picked up from this pub at certain times and most would not be able to walk to a different place for food or would get distressed by this anyway it is a complete violation of basic hospitality and human rights. To make matters worse, a lot of the people within the group, such as the girl I care for, cannot express their own points, as she is non-verbal, and would not understand why they are not able to order their tea.

Completely astonished that this sort of thing is allowed to happen in 2016"
