Day 7 of our funeral options. Here is the first of our specialist funerals Burial at Sea. The tradition of burial at sea is an ancient one. As far as anyone knows this has been a practice for as long as people have gone to sea particularly by the Royal Navy. The term describes the procedure of laying to rest human remains on the ocean floor.
Traditionally, burial at sea was associated to those who have served in the navy, or by those who have a deep personal association wit...h the sea. However, burial at sea is an option open to anyone.
In the UK there are three locations for this kind of funeral: The Needles, Isle of Wight; between Hastings and Newhaven on the South Coast; and off Tynemouth, North Tyneside.
A sea burial is a complex and specialist funeral therefore, it’s extremely important to contact us as soon as possible if you are considering this option.

Day 6 of our funeral options. Possibly the most difficult funeral is when a baby or young person dies. We understand that there’s nothing that we can say or do to ease your pain at this time just as there’s no right or wrong way to be feeling. Everyone is different. What is important is that you have the time you need to make decisions and choices. Don’t be afraid to think things through or change your mind.
At Unique Funerals we carry out funeral arrangements for childr...en up to the age of 16, free of charge.
Below are some on main services we provide freely:
• Bringing your child into our care within a 50-mile radius. • The professional services of a funeral director and any other staff required throughout. • The use of our Children’s Chapel of Rest. • Dependent upon the child’s age either a motor hearse or limousine on the day of the funeral. • A traditional oak veneered coffin or following the death of a baby or very young child, a wooden coffin in pink, blue or white.
We will guide you through the funeral arrangements thus enabling you to be as involved as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. For example, it may be that you wish to be involved in dressing your child, carrying the coffin, backfilling the grave or designing the orders of service. It is not unusual following the loss of a baby to want to organise a photographer, and to have tiny plaster casts made of his or her hands or feet. We are here to help and support every step of the way.

Day 5 of our funeral options today we consider the brave men and women who make up our armed forces. These men and women, their families and our veterans reflect what is best in our society. That is why we are committed to providing a fitting farewell in gratitude to their devotion and bravery to us. Our Service’s package is discounted and starts from £2,600.00.
When a Service person (including Reserve forces when on duty and Foreign and Commonwealth personnel) dies on du...ty, it is MOD policy to arrange a funeral at public expense, or to provide funding towards the cost of a private funeral dependent upon the wishes of the Next of Kin.
The Joint Casualty & Compassionate Centre
The Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre (JCCC) is the primary agency responsible for monitoring and actioning certain procedures for Service personnel if they become notifiable casualties both in the UK and overseas. The JCCC is manned 24 hours a day and provides a single point of contact for the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army and Royal Air Force.
JCCC key roles are:
• Liaison with the Visiting Officer to make sure early bereavement information is issued
• Co-ordination of repatriation of deceased to UK or Country of Origin
• Overall responsibility for all aspects of a death-related situation until after the funeral (when they then delegate such responsibility to the single Service)
• To notify the person entitled of any sums due to the deceased’s estate from the MoD, the action necessary to claim this sum, and the authorisation of the release of personal effects on MoD property to the person entitled
• Advice and guidance for Service funded funerals and current MoD Entitlements
• Arrange the manufacture of a publicly funded headstone or urn plot marker
The Armed Forces will pay for:
• bringing the body back to the UK from overseas or transporting it to spouse/partner's home country • provision of a coffin, and • delivery to an undertaker of your choice
After that you may choose to have either a
Service funeral, burial or cremation - at public expense paid for and arranged by the Armed Forces in accordance with Queens Regulations, or
private burial or cremation - serving military personnel are entitled to a service funded or private funeral • a £1,000 funeral expenses grant will be given to the next of kin, or executor • private funerals are paid for by the family but an additional grant of up to £3,385 is reimbursed to the next of kin, or executor, on production of a receipted funeral bill. If you choose a Service funeral, this will include:
• a hearse and one family car • the purchase of a burial plot • the provision and maintenance of a Service pattern headstone or • the provision of an Urn Plot Marker or payment for an entry in a Book of Remembrance

What is the Difference between this funeral and our others?
This simple, lower-cost funeral option is offered to provide a dignified farewell at a fair price with the comfort of knowing there has been no compromise to quality. However, as our Simple Funeral is offered as a standalone package many services traditionally associated with funerals are not included; unfortunately, we are unable to add or remove services to our Simple Funeral for that reason.

We've been asked what type of funerals do we do? So we've decided to feature one funeral per day for the next week. Today's contribution is our Direct Cremation.
We have been providing Direct Cremations since 2013. And whilst this option isn’t for most, it does offer several advantages overcoming many hurdles for others. Our direct cremation comes with an all inclusive set price of £1,250.00.
This package isn’t just for those wanting a funeral on the cheap; it delivers a r...espectful cremation which allows you to say goodbye when and where it suits you.
Direct Cremation is particularly useful when:
• The person who has passed is from overseas and there is no insurance to repatriate them; or, • When a family is spread about or in some cases needing to arrange travel or when simply trying to get everyone together at one time is proving impossible.
Rather than leaving a loved one in a mortuary, many opt for a life celebration or memorial service at a time and place that suits after the cremation has taken place.
With Direct Cremation your loved one is brought into our care (within 30-mile radius), placed in a simple and dignified coffin and transferred by private ambulance to a crematorium of our choice and time and the ashes returned to you at a convenient time.
Please note: Our Direct Cremation service does not allow mourners to be present.

Free Bereavement Support
Grieving takes place after any sort of loss, but most powerfully after the death of someone we love. It is not just one feeling, but a whole succession of feelings, which take a while to get through and which cannot be hurried. Unique Funerals can now offer our families who are struggling to come to terms with the loss of a loved one free professional bereavement support.
We have long been aware of a growing need to provide help to grieving families ...struggling to cope with a death of a close friend or relative. Under the initiative, family members will be offered up to six free counselling sessions, which can be used by one person or split between various members of a family.
The sessions will be delivered by a qualified bereavement counsellor and can take place at a location of the bereaved person’s choosing or by telephone and even by online chat or email.
As we know only too well that feeling of sadness and loss doesn’t end with the funeral, often this is just the beginning of the journey. Bereavement turns our world upside-down and is one of the most painful experiences we endure. It can be strange, terrible and overwhelming. In spite of this, it is a part of life that we all go through. There is no 'standard' way of grieving. We are all individuals and have our own particular ways of dealing with grief.
Not being able to cope isn’t a sign weakness, is an inner strength that’s telling you, you need help. We’re always hear for you and we’ll always do our best to help you.
