Went to vinegar Jones yesterday, and I have to say they were the best fish and chips I've had in a long time. Very clean and welcoming and will definitely be going again next time I'm in Bowness.

Thank you for looking after us yesterday. Arrived just after opening time at 4.50pm and considering we didn't book our party of Brownies in beforehand the staff were really friendly and took the time to speak to the girls, as well as giving excellent service and food. Really helpful and friendly staff. Gluten free fish had crispy batter. Regular fish and chips were delicious and the spicy curry sauce just right for a cold day. Would definitely visit again when in the area.

Possibly the best fish and chips I've had outside Australia. Deliciously light and crispy batter, fish was fresh and flaked beautifully. A very appreciated, lovely lunch on a rainy, cold day in Bowness.

Lovely fresh fish and chips served in a basket, we ate in and I have to say the whole place has had a make over since I was last there, very clean and modern a big improvement all round.

I heard vinegar Jones was gluten free and rated in the top 10 in the U.K. so had to visit. 4 whole years since I've had chip shop food and I certainly wasn't disappointed. Fish, chips, mushy peas and even gf vinegar. Amazing! I messaged before I went just to double check contamination risk and they were straight back with a friendly message to ease my concerns. Great food and really lovely staff. Thanks Vinegar Jones, I'll definitely be back.

Great to find somewhere that did gluten free and they were one of the nicest gluten free fish and chips I have had. Will definately come back again on my next visit.

Fresh and crispy chips served with perfectly cooked flaky fish in a light, non greasy batter. Portions were generous and the staff are lovely. A must for all visitors to Bowness

Always visit this chippy it’s a quick fix and great food and staff, some times more tasty to eat in the street on you way back to your accommodation 😀😀

Staff not that friendly on arrival. Chips terrible very greasy and so many had big black holes in them making them un eatable. Gluten free batter was ok but 50p for 2 tiny sachets of red sauce is day light robbery. Would not recommend it to my Coeliac friends.

Requested gluten free chips. And wanted gravy. The young girl laughed at me and smirked. I wanted a small portion, which i ended up with regular. Went upstairs to eat, to find another member of staff barging people out the way, very rude staff! Chips were nice! Utter shame about the service! Wont be going again. They dont care about their customers. Noticed it was the young girls that were shocking! The young lad was very well working!

Me & my husband went yesterday (23/08/17) - my hubby loves fish & chips but we were left bitterly disappointed by the fish - the was a lack of fish but, unfortunately, a lot of the very soggy, thick, tasteless batter. The chips were actually quite nice & the curry sauce was delicious. For the price we paid & the disappointment, we won't be making a return visit.

Visited here many times over the years without any problems. Was planning to call in again today (party of 5) and it was 4.40pm. A rather rude member of staff came to us and said you can’t come in until 4.45pm we’re closed. We asked why the shop was full of people but we couldn’t go in and she told us in a very patronising way ‘because they were in before 4pm!’ - not sure what that was all about but we didn’t bother waiting and went round the corner to the other chippy instead - our money will spend anywhere. A lesson in customer service wouldn’t go amiss. Attitudes like that could be losing this business lots of money. P.s. I don’t usually leave bad reviews but this lady’s attitude really wound me up!
