West Suffolk Crematorium

About West Suffolk Crematorium

West Suffolk Crematorium offers funeral services, both cremations and burials, to all of West Suffolk. It is a privately-owned crematorium.

West Suffolk Crematorium Description

West Suffolk Crematorium celebrates 25 years this July, and many changes have taken place over those years. From those early years when the grounds were barren and bare - now the gardens look amazing and are always improving.
This page has been created to give out details of any fund-raising days we are holding and also to update the public with photos of the grounds during the changing seasons.

I have just had a very delicious bacon sandwich from our Meadow Cafe for my late breakfast. Can definitely recommend this!

We were pleased to be able to make 2 large donations just before Christmas to very worthwhile causes in our area. We recently raised £10,000 from our Metal Recycling Scheme and decided to share this money between My Wish charity at West Suffolk Hospital and the Bury St Edmunds Samaritans. Photos and press release to follow but I thought we would share the letters we received from them.

West Suffolk Crematorium now has a defibrillator on site and it is important that as many people as possible know we have it and how to use it.

Thank you to everybody who joined us at the Carol Service last night! And especially to the Salvation Army Band, Adrian Graves, Jo Donlevy and David Waters for being part of this great evening. Also thanks to Armstrongs Funeral Service, L.Fulcher and Meredith Greengrass for their generous contributions to the evening 🙂 It was lovely to see so many people join us for refreshments at our Meadow Cafe afterwards!

After our building work was finished, we found we had a couple of “hilly” areas created in our new landscape. Ian Hemsley suggested we use this area as a Field of Remembrance - an area where visitors can place a wooden cross in memory of a loved one, after giving a donation to the Royal British Legion via our collection boxes. Crosses, poppies, wristbands etc can all be found in the Meadow Cafe or in the waiting room of St Edmunds Chapel

There is still time to join us for a piece of cake and cup of tea - raising money for Mcmillan Cancer Care 🙂

We have now carried out 60 wakes in our 2 function rooms since opening in mid-June. Our families have been very happy and satisfied with the service we offer. Here are a few testimonials we have received:
"I just wanted to email and say thank you for the lovely food, café and room we had yesterday for my dad's funeral wake. It was such a lovely, light room and the food was excellent. It was so good for us to have somewhere to gather after the funeral, especially as I haven'...t lived in Bury for a long time and don't know places any more! I think the wake being on site meant that more people stayed too, so we were able to catch up with them. Please pass on my thanks to the lovely ladies who served the food, and the people who prepared it. "
"It was so lovely to see old friends, the food at the wake was perfect, I am so glad you could accommodate us, it saved us having to do something at home and it is such a good service to offer."
"I would like to thank you and your team for the lovely spread you laid on for us. The variety of the menu meant everyone's needs were catered for and the lady who attended us in such a friendly and helpful manner was very much appreciated. Once again please accept our grateful thanks."

Despite this searing heat, the men are doing a great job keeping the garden alive and colourful 🙂

Such a perfect ending to a great life in a great setting.

So pleased my friend and her family are being able to continue to lay flowers at their parents bird boxes.. The woodland looks lovely.. And living in Dorset I love seeing their photos of all the flowers and how colourful it looks.. My friend was heartbroken when she had to return home with her flowers for her dad.. So pleased you have had a change of heart, and I am sure it will continue to be a place of peace and beauty... Sue

A heartfelt thank-you to all the staff at West Suffolk Crematorium for everything you did to make my Dad's funeral ceremony so lovely. A special mention to Paul, the music man who interpreted exactly how we wanted the tracks played.. To Claire for her unfailing support, and also to the team in the new hospitality suite - which I can thoroughly recommend.. Thank you once again, you all made the most difficult of days so much easier to bear.

I tried to post this on the main page, but they obviously vet them first...

Personally I found the venue very nice, and all went well, and I was very satisfied with it.

And then less than a month after I used them for my wife of 28 days, they sent me a feedback form. And how insensitive was that??

I realise at the end of the day that this is a money-making enterprise, and they wish to get feedback to improve their services and attract more people.

But come on guys/gals, not even leaving it a month after the ceremony was BAD, and you couldn't even get our names right!!

Poor show, and I won't (Hopefully) ever use you again.
