About Whitehaven Sea Cadets

This is the official public Facebook page for Whitehaven Sea Cadets. We also have a separate, closed, page for current members of the unit only.

Whitehaven Sea Cadets Description

Whitehaven Sea Cadets was established in the old Irish Street school in 1942. In 1945 we moved to our present location on Old New Quay and were christened 'Training Ship BEE'.
In December 2013, Whitehaven was battered by a tidal surge driven by winds of well over 90mph. We didn't come out of it very well!
Windows in our galley and first-floor office were blown in and the contents of both rooms pretty much destroyed. Other windows were damaged and some physically moved within their openings. Both male and female heads, entrance lobby and both uniform stores were flooded, plus there was minor flooding to other parts of the building. In addition, the building suffered structural damage in several areas. It's going to take a lot of time, effort and money to put it right!
However, although the building is closed, WE ARE NOT! ! We have been given temporary accommodation in the police station and will continue to meet there every Friday until we can get back to our own home.
