Today a group of 4 members from World Merit Burundi organised an event focused on SDG 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing) in the capital, Bujumbura.
1071 young people benefitted from the advocacy sessions promoting sexual and reproductive health. The event began with an introduction to the UN SDGs and highlighted the work World Merit Burundi were involved in.
Many of the attendees expressed interest in becoming a World Merit member and the team collected email addresses to ensure ...that the council continues to grow.
Impressively, this event was planned in just over one week! The team, led by Nzigamasabo L├®onidas organised a committee meeting with members of Merit Local Council Bujumbura. The mission was to organise two events and empower over 750 people.
Nzigamasabo L├®onidas explains: "We contacted the Headmaster of the Lycee School and explained to our mission for th event and he agreed with us! The event was supposed to take place this Saturday but the Headmaster told us yesterday morning that it is difficult for students to come on Saturday because it is a holiday. So he suggested we launch the event on today, Friday. So it was busy few days for the tea, tasing materials, deigning the banners and presentations and getting everything printed. We promoted the event on social media which worked well. I really appreciated the Team, the spirit of being movers, shakers and changemakers we used."
