About Yewdale Inn

The Yewdale Inn is a traditional British pub located in the picturesque village of Coniston. Enjoy a pint of ale by the fire or sit down for a delicious pub meal. We are family and dog friendly.

Yewdale Inn Description

The Yewdale Inn is situated in the very centre of Coniston in the heart of the Lake District. Coniston was voted the UK’s top walking destination in 2009 so the Inn is an ideal base from which to enjoy the surrounding countryside. Fishing, sailing, kayaking, cycling and pony trekking are all available on or around Coniston Water and those with energy to spare can tackle the climb up the 2, 600’ Old Man of Coniston. The Ruskin Museum in the village celebrates history of Coniston and famous Victorian artist John Ruskin, and there is the steamboat trip that calls off at various points around the beautiful Lake with its stunning views of the Lakeland fells.

We had a one night stay. The staff were incredibly helpful, kind and welcoming. They advised us on which walks would suit us the most. Our evening meal was lovely as was our breakfast. We would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing break. A big thanks to all the staff. Madeline.

This morning the staff at the Y cafe came to the rescue of my dad when he came off his bike just outside their door. Bleeding and bruised they took him in and made sure he was warm, safe and then called my mum to let her know, as his phone had broken in the fall. I can't thank the staff enough for their exceptional kindness, particularly the waitress Joanne. He has commented that your coffee is also fantastic and that all cyclists should pop in to try it! Thank you so much for taking care of my dad, with warmest wishes, Siobhan.

User

This is a little gem in Coniston. The food is great and the accommodation is very clean. Parking is an issue but if you look around you will get parked. The people running this hotel are very friendly and will do more than enough to help if you need it. Nice walks along the lake or boat trips if you do not walk. Pet friendly everywhere.

User

The service in this place was amazing. Tom the chap behind the bar went above and beyond our expectations. So much so we booked in for dinner that night. What an amazing meal we had. All 7 adults, 1 baby and 2 dogs! Thank you.

User

Stayed in Coniston Village for couple of nights. We stopped at Yewdale Inn for dinner and then had breakfast in the cafe the next morning! Great food, friendly staff, good coffee!

User

Spent 3 days in the lake district and this has been one of the highlights, Jeff and his staff are amazing and were more than happy to accommodate my dietry requirements. Nothing was too much trouble and they were happy to chat and make us feel welcome 5*

User

Really pleasant sat outside in the sun with a nice cool lager!!!

User

Lovely little hotel in a lovely village, the moment we arrived we were extremely impressed by the super friendly warm welcome...room lovely and pristine, staff wonderful, highly recommended!

User

Just stopped off for a drink on the way back to Windermere. Staff very friendly and efficient. Sun was shining so we sat outside.

User

Just got back after a lovely stay and we really enjoyed ourselves.food looked lovely.the place is clean and modern.our room was cosy with a really comfy bed our breakfast was really nice.full English really set us up for the day will definitely be back.

User

Had a really enjoyable stay, took our 4 year old Grandson for a short break, our family room was spacious and lovely and clean. Breakfast was excellent , evening meal good size portions and was particularly impressed that the child's meal was a beautifully presented proper fish, peas and lovely chips, and not the usual cheap fish fingers most places seem to offer and staff very pleasant. Thought the price was very reasonable. Will be back.

User

Excellent welcome from all staff, well stocked bar, clean rooms and lovely food.

User

Excellent vegan pizza, delicious green salad, attentive service and a friendly atmosphere.

User

Best bar service I’ve ever had, would highly highly recommend. Top food, ordered the mezze platter to start followed by the ballotine chicken and the chicken, red onion and chorizo pizza. Awesome food, chicken was cooked to perfection, and absolutely delicious. The ale is perfect, as is the wide selection of gins. Do not walk past this inn. Best in coniston, cheers

User

A great place for a drink and good food. Food is not served all day so watch the timings.

Thomas the bar man is so friendly and will recommend a good cocktail 🍸 if that is what you want.

Definitely worth a visit.

User

A friendly pub, good atmosphere and great food.

User

Jùst back from a small break staying at the Yewdale Inn, had an offer to stay here so didn't expect much, when we arrived we were shown our room, which was quite small but clean with tea/coffee making facilities, our evening meal was delicious, yeasty and hot, our breakfast the following day was the same, the food in this Hotel is outstanding, there's not a lot if choice and the specials on the board are not on long. The Hotel is situated next to a church which we heard the chimes every hour, not the Hotels fault but it did keep us awake, saying that I would return, a beautiful place to stay and explore

User

Had a lovely 3 night stay here. Room was comfortable and clean. Staff lovely, breakfast was fab and the evening meal we had was delicious.

Only negatives were shower and bathroom really small but not a massive issue, curtains let a bit too much light in. I like a really dark room.

Church bells chiming a little annoying but not hotels fault. I would come back and recommend.

User

so disappointed by our visit today. scorching hot and just down off the fells, waited for an outdoor seat then sat down in the perfect spot, and I went in to get menus. given to me and told to order at the bar. the menu looked great

- as did the pub. went up to the bar a few minutes later to be told they stopped serving at 3 and it was 3.03pm.

we were beyond annoyed that no one had warned us and to top it off, I got my phone out when we gathered our stuff and left the pub - it was 3.01pm so the tills were clearly fast! rubbish customer service.
