Here's an inspirational story from America ( reported in the local press) about a homeless teenager in a shelter who has progressed to find work and develop her education at a high level.
We have seen that with the right support, young people locally can succeed in the same way.

It's actually getting worse! The number of young people who are homeless or suffering mental health issues is increasing and poverty is becoming widespread at a younger age.

According to the BBC, a record 2.9 million children live in poverty, despite being part of a working family. Read the article here: http://ow.ly/tI2W50ortE2
We can offer young people support around employment and housing to help break the poverty cycle.

Here's our definition of Youth Homelessness:
When a young person has no safe place to go they sleep 'rough' on the streets, in a hostel or even on the sofa at a friends. Young people need support that we provide. Find out how you can help here:

Did you know that young people can overcome trauma and mental health issues by talking about their challenges and by accessing support.
If you know any young people needing help, our Drop-In centre and counselling provision is here to provide support.

A contributory factor for young people becoming homeless is mental health issues & some people believe that enough money is already spent on mental health for young people.
This is not true at all. In fact, there have been major cuts of spending for young peoples mental health!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who supported us with our crowdfunding campaign for our new youth homeless project, The Next Step. The campaign has ended and we hit our target which is fab! We now need to raise the final 100K to run the project for year 1.

According to research by MQ Mental health, over half (56%) of young children link mental health with 'alienation & isolation' while 51% feel embarrassed about mental health issues. Help us reduce the taboo and offer support. Find out more: http://ow.ly/KSfB50mnGIH

Despite this belief (which is a myth!) it's very rare that a young person wants to be homeless. Please share this post to raise awareness of the work we do and help correct myths like this!

There are many ways that a young person can show signs of mental health issues e.g. depression such as fatigue, low mood or hopelessness. If you feel someone is struggling, it can help to listen and also suggest they contact Youth Concern. We are always happy to help.

Youth Concern is a saviour. I personally have used the service for 100 different reasons and I’ve never been let down. Staff and volunteers are kind, inspiring people who make you feel welcome no matter your story or situation. They can not do enough to help the young people of Aylesbury and anywhere else! No better place for young people to get support in this area.

Thank you guys for the amazing work you do, so many people are grateful.

Such a vital service offered to help young people when they need it most. I am always amazed by how dedicated and experienced the team are and how much they put the young person at the centre of all that they do. I think they are a small charity with big impact, super friendly and they do lots of work around prevention and crisis support. This is an amazing organisation doing crucial work.
