A couple of days ago I did something I should have done 4 years ago, I sat with a graphic designer and designed a logo for Dotty’s. I may tweak it slightly and it’s just a photo so not a great image to look at but what do you think? All feedback much appreciated x

For the last four and a half months I’ve been managing the Ship Inn at Port Mulgrave and enjoyed every minute of it. Thanks to all of you who managed to pop up and see us, it's such a special place. Sadly Tom and Jane have suddenly decided to sell and I’m going to be moving out over the next 2 weeks. I had such plans of building up the business and spending a lot more time there and feel completely gutted. Meanwhile back at Dotty’s I had agreed to sublet the tea room out. Af...ter 2 long months of planning and arrangements, earlier this week I was let down on the day we were about to sign. My lovely brother had a saying - Experience is what you get when you don’t get what you want, well this year it would appear that I’ve had myself a shit load of experience! The next couple of weeks will be spent emptying the Ship, spending quality time with my friends and family, having some rest and focusing on my new future. Dotty’s will re-open on the 22nd November and I’ll be back in at the Helm. Thank you for all your support for Dotty’s and I, onwards and upwards, into another chapter x

Wonderful tearoom and a must visit when in Staithes. In fact make it a must visit. Huge tea cakes and scones (choice of cheese or fruit ones) an ever changing array of cakes including gluten free options.

User

What a wonderful little tea room, and curiosity shop. Tried their Lemon Scones (they had run out of our original choice) which were superb. Lovely cup of tea (yes tea, as I normally have coffee) in china cup. They also do B&B, which I will have to give it a try sometime! Fully recommend you stop off and sample their cakes. Really friendly and attentive staff.

We stayed at dottys b&b this weekend as a gift. We had a wonderful stay. First of all the tearoom is delightful the staff were really welcoming and friendly and the tearoom itself is beautiful. Our room was equally beautiful the decor was gorgeous and inspired. Trudie was such a fantastic host she made us feel so welcome. The breakfast was wonderful, our needs were catered for, even a full vegetarian breakfast. A must place to visit and stay. Thank you

User

We highly recommend this lovely tea room, absolutely excellent service and the scones we had were delicious. They love dogs too, definitely worth a visit.

We had afternoon tea this afternoon as a birthday treat. It was fantastic. Great selection of sandwiches and cakes, the fresh strawberries dipped in chocolate were a real treat but the scones, cream and jam were gorgeous as well as the other cakes. Lovely atmosphere and nice staff. Thank you everyone, it was so nicely presented and delicious. We will be back next year.

User

We couldn’t fault this place! The staff were lovely and the scones were delicious. Large teapot and not skinny with the milk jug to keep filling our tea cups. Would definitely recommend

User

Visited this morning and absolutely loved it! So friendly with the children and the food is delicious! Scones still warm from the oven, rich chocolate cake & divine coffee! Going back tomorrow to try something else!

User

This really quaint tea room is brilliant. The staff were cheerful and welcoming. The tea was very hot and the scones and cake we had were amazing. Well worth the walk down and then back up the hill to the car park.

The decor added to the character.

User

The best cheese scones on the north east coast!!

User

Stayed for one night at this gorgeous little place. The tea room was a vintage lovers paradise and our room was equally a dream. Decor was beautiful! Trudie was an equally fantastic host and we felt so welcome. Breakfast is served at a time to suit you which I thought was a lovely touch. There is only two rooms in this b&b which makes it all the more personal and all of the staff we met were so friendly. Staithes itself is a beautiful little village with a maze of paths to get lost in between the houses if you like to explore. I would definitely recommend Dotty's!

User

Love this place. What a find! Staff are so lovely and welcoming, prices realistic and good value. Scones - large and tasty. Tea served in a proper tea pot with cups and sauces and two mini party ting biscuits served on the saucer too. Great vibe with pretty objects d’art to look at whilst enjoying the ambience m. Definitely would recommend. First time at Staithes (we’re from a South Yorkshire) but us come back just for this little gem! They even offered dog biscuits for the couple next to our table for their dog.

User

Found my Shangri-la...

Tea served in miss_matched china cups and saucers, cake, bunting, flowers, a stable door, loads of quirky vintage bits and pieces on display and last but not least a crocheted blanket for my knees.

Can I stay? Can I? X x

User

Called in today to see the new extended cafe area, it's lovely. Plenty of staff, my scone was amazing. We were served by a lovely young lad who had just started, he did very well. We'll definitely be back!

User

Absolutely love Dotty's tea room. We visit here on a regular basis, the last time was only this afternoon after being at Saltburn. I fancied a cup of tea so it was the first place that my husband and I both decided to go to. Had tea for two and two fruit scones with jam and clotted cream (its my pet hate for a cream tea to come without clotted cream and double/whipped instead). Served on dainty, mis-matched bone china with shortbread fingers added. Wonderful, friendly, chatty staff and amazing attention to details. Our cocker spaniel was most welcomed and even got the service of biscuits for her. Very good value for money (£10), even got end of the day scones when sold off (4 for £2).Love, love, love Dotty's. If we lived nearer I'd be in every day. See you very soon x
