fantastic day out for all the family with lots of things to see and do and it doesn't cost the earth.

We were staying in Redruth last week with children and my parents. We came to Heartlands for a few hours on Monday, we all enjoyed the heritage centre, red river and park and gardens. We had a great week in Cornwall but on the Friday the only thing my 4 and 6 yo wanted to do was go back to Heartlands so we came back for the afternoon. Lovely place for all ages.

User

Today I came with 26 children and had a great day. In the lead up your team were really helpful and prompt at replying to emails, we loved looking at the exhibit hall, walked through the sensory garden and played in your fab play park. I come here weekly with my son and love it as a parent but not I love it as a teacher. Great to see a local initiative being well used, looked after and bring a super resource to the community. Keep up the good work! Sarah, Primary teacher, Pennoweth primary school, Redruth.

User

Thank you Heartlands for hosting the Man Engine After Dark Event, although the weather was dreadful the whole event was fantastic and the team where not put off by the challenging weather. A magnificent sight to see.

My name is John Bruce I with two others run School of Rock a community project designed for younger people to learn to play in bands! We are returning to Heartlands to let our bands play at a live concert.

I must say the Heartland staff and management certainly have been outstanding it is refreshing to find people who want to give and not take! I have been very touched by there willingness to promote our concert on the 3rd of December they really do go the extra mile. I think it is important to promote our local communities and Heartlands are like minded. Can't wait to show off our young bands and where better than a lovely concert hall on their premises. ROCK ON Heartlands!!!

Lovely place, facilities, great events & love living here!

Excellent service in the Red River Café catered for gluten free ( I enjoyed a chilli bean jacket potato ). Lots of extra activities on for the Easter weekend. My children enjoyed having their face painted (for free), also other activities such as a bouncy castle, story teller and Nerf gun fun.

User

Think carefully before accessing in a wheelchair. There are only 6 specific wheelchair spaces, which when we arrived at Geekfest 11.10am were all full up. The normal car park has a height restriction, so be careful if you have a van WAV as you may not be able to get in there. Some cars had thoughtlessly parked on the pavement stopping me from accessing the slope to the pavement. I got my wheels stuck in the gravel, so did another poor chap, who had a team of blokes physically lifting him in his wheelchair to get him out.

There are stairs next to the disabled access entrance, not a slope. See my photos. The disabled toilet in the cafe, the lock wasn’t working properly, so I burst in on another user. Hopefully they will improve these issues, as we are sending email to site manager.

Halloween ball- this is not a review at Heartlands as a whole, just the Halloween shambles! I've been to lots of the events held here, always good! Good value and enjoyed by the family..until yesterday! What an absolute lash up this 'ball' was! How can you charge £5 and £2.50 to herd 200 plus people into a hall, no chairs, no organisation and call it a party...To top this off, have animals amongst this chaos! I thought it was truly shocking to see a beautiful bird of prey, perched there while loud music was played and balloons being popped every second!

On the tickets it said food..a cookie to be precise! I appreciate it wasn't mega bucks, but to some it is, especially if you took a large family! It was unsafe for kids, I certainly couldn't let go of my 4 year old, I would have lost her!

Disappointed heartlands, didn't think this one through on any level, should have spent the money on another, thought out family Halloween party venue.

User

Part of the site was closed off for a paid entry event but this area included all the toilets and the cafe. So the children could access the play area without cost but we had to use the market cafe and toilets or pay £3 each to enter.

Attitude and understanding of the staff on the gate was not impressive either. Such a shame it was badly thought out and run without thought to the regular users of the site.

User

Ok so I am beyond furious. So this "fairground week" at heartlands completely ruined my night tonight. The page specifically said from 1st to the 5th from 12pm til 9pm. I took my husband my 2 year old and my parents and this is what we came too. I was furious and my child was devistated. Nowhere on their event page does it say anything about finishing early or cancelling. So if any of my friends can find any information that I either missed or didn't see and I will take back and eat my words but I couldn't see anything to give me any reason why this happened. There was someone in the page on 1st who wrote "thanks for telling me it was closed we came all the way from st austell" so we clearly arent the only ones. Grrr

User

I responded to a post on the heartlands page regarding fly tipping and posted some eye saw pics of my own, as a response, anyone else having their posts censored/removed by heartlands?? Beware you are blocked from commenting on heartlands Facebook page if you put or show anything critical, the place must have kids running the admin if they don't want the reality being posted lol

User

Heartlands is a great place, just don't go into the Red River Cafe which is on site. The staff are miserable, take ages to serve you and once they do, they then walk off to go to the toilet and don't bother to carry out your order! I am sure it would be better with some new staff. There are a lot of young people out there who would love a job here and I am sure would do a better job than the staff that are here already. Will never set foot in here again and will be telling everyone I know to avoid, avoid, avoid .
