Arnis, also known as Kali or Eskrima, is the national sport and martial art of the Philippines. The three are roughly interchangeable umbrella terms for the traditional martial arts of the Philippines ("Filipino Martial Arts", or FMA) that emphasize weapon-based fighting with sticks, knives, bladed weapons, and various improvised weapons as well as "open hand" or techniques without weapons. It is also known as Estoque (Spanish for rapier), Estocada (Spanish for thrust or stab) and Garrote (Spanish for club). In Luzon it may go by the name of Arnis de Mano

Very good gym sessions are good wether ur just starting out or been doing it for a while Jamie will get you going he's a really good trainer
Loved it great club very friendly atmosphere
Jamie is a great trainer and is great with all ages. Really friendly members too.
Jamie is a good instructor and goes at slow pace for the beginners which is fantastic
I did have a few nerves going to my first session, but they were soon dismissed when I was welcomed into the club with patience and understanding. The atmosphere is all about helping each other and improving each others skills rather than the ego competitions I have experienced in other gyms. I have dropped weight, greatly improved my fitness, gained a lot of confidence and made some good friends. I would (and regularly do) recommend Instinct Martial Arts to anyone looking to make a positive change in their lives
Great place to train good curcuit train and good knowledge of muay thai and k1 great kids class I love a good session at here hard but you feel the benefits after going you feel better in yours self top class training cheers Jamie
Great gym to train in, friendly and welcoming
Great gym good atmosphere Jamie is a excellent coach
Great for all levels good atmosphere too been training at instinct since it opened still gets better and better.
Great Instructor and everyone that trains give encouragement and make you feel part of it all great place to train love it
Excellent classes for both me and my daughter. Both do class together so builds her self defence and she gets to spend time with her old man
Excellent 1-1 sessions. Easy steps and build up as a beginner. Was made to feel at ease and given lots of support in learning news skills, great fun, Jamie seems to know when he needs to push you, especially when you think you can't go on he motivates you in a way that makes you want to achieve and without the pressure you get when in a gym.
Brilliant patient, understanding trainer who suits exercising to your abilities
Brilliant one to one sessions with Jamie! highly recommend!
Before joining Instinct I'd been out of martial arts for about 7 years. In that time I bounced between several clubs but could never find one that was a good enough fit to reignite my enthusiasm. For me it’s a lot less about what you’re learning and more about how. In my first session I felt that Jamie spent a lot of time working with me to establish my capabilities based on (lack of) fitness level and my past experiences to allow him to teach me in a way that benefited me most. While this in itself might not be unique to Instinct, the thing that keeps me coming back is that he’s never stopped doing it. I’ve been training here now for just over 6 months and he still comes across to give me unique advice. Whether it’s something as simple as where to look or more advanced footwork to improve a combo, he’s always going about the class making sure everyone is getting the most out of every drill.
As a lot of other people have said, everyone who trains at Instinct is dead nice and makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk in the door. There’s a real sense of community both in and out of the gym. Everyone works hard, but they have fun doing it and do their best to make sure no-one gets/feels left out.
While training here both my physical condition and self-confidence have improved substantially and I’d whole-heartedly recommend anyone with even a vague interest in martial arts or getting in shape to give the gym a try.
