SPOTLIGHT ARTIST OF THE WEEK: YVONNE MARIE FORSTER -
Whilst studying for a Degree in Fine Art , Yvonne did a work placement with The World Land Trust, Halesworth in Suffolk. This opportunity and experience directed and has informed her subsequent art practice, including the series Altered Perceptions. Yvonne enjoys the process of pushing her own boundaries, exploring techniques and mediums such as acrylic paint, watercolour, charcoal, collagraphs, linocut prints, photograph...y and mixed mediums.
Over the last three years her work has explored and engaged with themes around environmental issues including the impact of deforestation, displacement and the ecological contrasts caused by human activity.
"One of the hopes I have for my work is that it will resonate with the viewer stimulating contemplation and action that will (hopefully) lead to a shift in the way the individual (and society) perceives, relates to, and acts upon the natural world we are part of and are embedded in. My most recent series of works could be described as semi-abstractions highlighting the interdependence of nature and consequential fragility of ecosystems." Yvonne Marie Forster.

SPOTLIGHT ARTIST OF THE WEEK - LEE KING -
Following a period of ill health I was housebound for a long number of years. During this time I lost connection with the natural world and in turn with my confidence and identity. Part of my recovery has been about rebuilding a connection with nature and being able to step into green spaces again. It has been important to notice even the small things such as the changing colour of leaves, birds on the trees outside my home and redis...covering local parks and green spaces and the wildlife that inhabit them.
Living in the city of York I am aware of the rate of development and urbanization. I am concerned that as a whole we are losing contact with nature which is so important to wellbeing. My work is a reflection of my recovery and a way of exploring the small moments of noticing and the interactions I have had with nature during my recovery.
I want to inspire others to use nature for wellbeing and to interact with the environment, it is my hope that my work will inspire others to take notice of the natural world and to step outdoors into wild spaces.

William Tillyer is one of Britain’s most respected artists, with an established reputation and yet an elusive persona within the art world. His work can be seen in collections of the Tate, V&A, and all over the world including MoMA in New York and The Gallery of Western Autrailia.
From 7th September Kunsthuis Gallery will be the first in a series marking his 80th birthday to have been granted access to reveal some of his wider collection of works, in collaboration with his d...ealer and London Gallery Bernard Jacobson Gallery.
Alongside British Sculptor Gareth Griffiths, we welcome both artists into our Witte Kubus space for thre Autumn.

SPOTLIGHT ARTIST OF THE WEEK: Peter Gudynas - An experienced visual artist based in Birmingham UK, best known for his photographic and graphic art, working with collage, mixed media and digital techniques.
Crushed Cars Archival Inkjet Print - landscapes and environments notable for the absence of human presence, yet at the same time touched by that presence and the detritus humanity leaves behind in the wake of technological progress. Digital manipulation, electronic painting... and retouching techniques are used to re-visualise and transform pictorial scenes and landscapes into post-photographic scenes and heterotopian spaces.
The intention here is not to document reality but create techno-surreal representations, to capture and explore, through the lens of the minds eye, certain underlying intrinsic symbolisms and meanings related to a prevailing and future dystopian post human condition.

I love this gallery. It's in a beautiful location. The art on show is a mixed range of innovative and accessible pieces from Dutch and UK artists. There's a cafe where you can have a Dutch pancake or homemade Apricot & Almond tart. The views from the eco-gardens are wonderful. My fav place.
