About Mowbray School

Mowbray School, Bedale, North Yorkshire

Mowbray School Description

This facebook page has been set up to help with our paperless project that our school has undertaken to try and cut the costs of ink and paper.

This page is a one-way communication tool with parents to inform them of the learning taking place in their child’s class. This page is to be strictly used as a one way communication tool with parents. It is not a discussion forum. Any parents who use it to speak negatively about the school will be blocked and banned from the page. We encourage parents to read our 'Acceptable use of Internet policy' which has been updated to include a social media guide for children and parents. If parents feel they need to discuss any issues, please contact the school directly.

We will try and keep parents updated with everything going on in school as soon as we possibly can. We will try to provide useful links and any other information that we feel will help improve your child's learning.

Mowbray is a North Yorkshire County Council co-educational special school situated in a lovely rural setting in the market town of Bedale, with a warm and welcoming community of staff and pupils who strive to make each other feel part of our community.

We serve a very large catchment area covering 1, 400 square miles from Stockton on Tees to Harrogate, with 182 pupils currently attending from both rural and urban areas, as well as military bases.

What we do: Our school educates and cares for pupils aged three to sixteen years with a statement of Special Educational Needs or an Education Health Care Plan, with a wide range of learning difficulties including:

• Moderate, severe and complex learning difficulties
• Speech, language and communication difficulties
• Physical and sensory impairments
• Dyspraxia
• Social, emotional and behavioural difficulties
• Autistic Spectrum Conditions including Aspergers

Did you spot team “Mowbray Magic” at the Knaresborough Bed Race today? The weather didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits, but did make the river crossing more interesting than previous years! Excellent work team on both the running and bed decoration. Training for next year starts tomorrow....

Yesterday’s Mowbray fun run was a tremendous success, our pupils always try their hardest and this was epitomised in the fun run. The event was so well organised, my thanks to staff, parents, pupils, friends and Governors for their help and to Mr Oliver for organising such a successful event.
