ROAD TRIP! Positively canine will be on a road trip from Friday 10th August and don't plan on coming back to work until 30th August! I will be plodding along in the campervan doing the NC500 so the chances are signal will be limited too. Hey Parents! Bored kids this summer? Not any more! Jo Brook of Positively Canine and Wendy Keefer of Hey Dog! Pet Behaviour and Training are offering a workshop for children aged 5-11 years old with parents and their dogs! This will be a fun, interactive 2 hour workshop with an emphasis on teaching children how to build safe, trusting and rewarding relationships with their pets. We will kick off with a talk about dogs and how they tell us when they aren’t happy and how to le...t them know you are kid they can trust. This talk will include games and role play followed by practice with their real dogs. After this, there will be a variety of games designed all around building a great, fun relationship with your dog that will cater for different abilities. These games may include: Go away / come back again Mousie mousie Hide and seek Recalls Parkour And many others…. There could even be a fun competition here and there with the valuable Hey Dog! Paws of Approval stickers to be won! The dates are Friday the 27th of July or Sunday the 2nd of September at 10:00. Treats and drinks for humans included. Get signed up now! Prices - 1 adult, 1 child and 1 dog £20. Additional children and adults £5 each. There must be at least 1 adult per 2 children and 1 dog.

Lovely morning walk 😀

It's amazingly hot here at the training school today and it's meant to get hotter! There is a possibility some of the puppy classes may be cancelled today it's just not worth the risk. I will pop a text message out if they are cancelled, in the meantime keep cool!

LOVE this big dude and his dedicated owners. He is a big soft lad that gets easily over aroused through excitement, frustration and anxiety which can result in him jumping up at people and grabbing their arms in his mouth (gently I may add!) He is NOT aggressive at all. It was decided to muzzle train him to be responsible, while working through other exercises to help him not feel the need to do the behaviour. Because he gets easily aroused we had to go very slowly and allow him to make all the choices. This is a snippet of him in action. I am so proud of him and his owners, and it is an amazing feeling to see him thinking rather than rushing and grabbing and see HIM choose to so this.

**SAVE THE DATE 15TH SEPTEMBER** Positively canine are holding a fund raising day at the training school to raise much needed awareness and funds for Veterans With Dogs. The aim is to have various stalls, a dog show, food, face painting, games etc. Would anyone be willing to help, know of any companies that may help/donate or anyone who would like to have a stall... I'm looking for ♤cake makers... ♡ stalls ◇entertainment be it face painter, etc ♧ raffle prizes ♤food stall/burger van ♡People to help take dog show entries and sell cakes

Scent 2 concentrates on handling skills- introducing directed searches and search patterns.These skills allows teams to increase the challenge of the searches, including changes of height, duration of search and multiple/zero finds. Building on the foundation searches, this day will push the boundaries and challenge your team.
Open to all handlers that have completed scent 1 or spectated and then introduced the scent and acti...ve indication to their dog at home Please only book a handler place if your dog is human friendly. We are pleased to invite you to join us for Level 1 Talking Dog Scentwork with Naomi Hillman
This is an introduction to scent work where you will learn the basics. Your dog will be introduced to a specific scent and will be encouraged to give an active indication (dog plays with the scented article or eats the food find, rather than going still or staring, or sitting in front of it). Passive indication will not be taught at this workshop. You will learn about the scent pictur...e, basic handling skills and conducting free searches.
A light lunch will be provided.
There are no pre-requisites for handlers attending this workshop. Please only book a handler place if your dog is human friendly. If your dog will struggle with other dogs or needs space please contact me prior to booking to make sure we can accomodate your needs. Rolo loved his puppy classes and is looking forward to social Sundays

Oli and I enjoyed our first 1 - 1 with Jo - its great to find someone who makes training fun and who I feel at ease with and who Oli likes and trusts. We are looking forward to progressing further and eventually joining in one of the classes with other dogs - Highly recommended and I wish I had found Jo earlier - thank you and see you soon

Lovely relaxed day with nice people, learned so many things for gundog training. Caroline and Jo thank you so much. Homework now for next one. Inca loved it and was tired out.

Just finished 9 week puppy training with Jo. Can't recommend her highly enough. She trains in a really positive and calm way. She's really knowledgable and encouraging and patient. Thanks Jo!

Jo absolutely fantastic, would highly recommend!!!!

I had my first one to one session with Jo last week and the tips she gave me for my rescue dog who can be dog reactive on lead have been great. Jo also put up with my rather bouncy labrador destroying her raffle prizes so a massive thank you, and apologies again! Looking forward to next session.

I can't recommend Jo's classes enough! Took my spaniel to the 9 week puppy class, and saw her progress so quickly. Jo is knowledgable, patient and friendly, and her methods are always well thought-through and logical, ensuring that new puppy owners understand why we train our dogs in the way we do. Jo clearly loves what she does, and this is reflected in the enjoyment that is clear in all her classes.

Highly recommended for social sessions,training sessions, one to ones and much much more . A really positve way of training that your dog will love ( and you )

Highly recommend, took advice off this lady on many things.. but recently it was lead aggression with one of my Jack Russels and she was amazing.

Excellent birthday party at Positively Canine yesterday. Enjoyed the party games and the dogs did too. highly recommend a visit, to the training sessions or the social sessions, as well as booking a birthday party for your fur babies.

Did the 9 week puppy classes here and absolutely loved it!! They were so lovely with Rory and took great care of him seen as he is so dinky! I work with 20 children a day and I swear raising a puppy is harder, but Jo and Debs made it so much easier and went above and beyond to answer ALL the questions I had :) Couldn't of asked for better people to help with the start of Rory's little life. He so well behaved now after all the training he's had, couldn't recommend them more.

Can highly recommended the training here. Jo is always extremely helpful. We love coming along to the fun sessions.

Brilliant Doggie Birthday Party for my little 'nephew' Albert yesterday! Fantastic facilities, indoor and outdoor areas for Albert and his friends to play, comfy sofas for us humans to sit back and witness the fun! Great people, very friendly. A real pleasure. Will post some photos...

Attended a gundog training workshop today. Fantastic group of people and excellent tuition. Highly recommend and hope to return for future workshops
