And he’s done it! Well done PK. What an adventure. The Scargill and Lee Abbey Devon community’s are connected in so many ways, and now by your footsteps!

Some deep conversations have been had between our youth and childrens workers and guests over Summerfest. An example of one such converstion overheard during Summerfest "I've only just met you, but I want to come to your funeral!" #OverheardAtScargill #LivesSharedLivesTransformed

Delighted to have sent Péter PK Kovács on his way yesterday. We hope he will be greatly blessed by his journey and a blessings to those he meets. "May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you, wherever He may send you. May He guide you through the wilderness, protect you through the storm.... May He bring you home rejoicing at the wonders He has shown you. May He bring you home rejoicing once again into our doors."

Lovely Blog here fromSusan Sanderson reflecting on what can hold us back from expressing ourselves creatively. Lots of creativity going on here this week during Fest. How would you like to be able to express yourself, but are just to shy/afraid to try? https://morethanwriters.blogspot.com/…/ does-more-than-inclu…

So Bandit heard that the Admin Team are one of the teams looking for new members in September. What do you think? Does he have what it takes to work in reception? Personally I think his gifting is in rodent control, purring and looking cute and he should stick to it! If you or someone you know could do the job better than our 4 pawed friend we would love to hear from you https://scargillmovement.org/join-communi ty/

One of the promises we make as a Community is to "enjoy and carefully look after whichever part of the world has been generously entrusted to us by God." As part of our promise to care for Gods creation we have made a commitment as a Community to banish plastic from the main house wherever we can. Stage one is that we will not be providing plastic water bottles as part of our cafe lunch option during Summerfest and we will not be using any disposable cutlery. Instead we have ...advised our guests to bring their own reusable water bottles, alternatively we have a range in our shop for sale. We are selling these bottles at £2,50 over the summer period, which is less than they cost us to buy in. This is an expression of our desire to see less plastic clogging up our planet. Stage two will be to replace all individual breakfast items (jams etc). Do you have a favourite colour? I think mine might be the purple. Or the blue. Or maybe I will just have to buy all 4!! #LivesSharedLivesTransformed #CommunityPromises #ReduceReuseRecycle #NoMorePlastic #BeautifulBottles

A few pictures from our closed week. It has been a lot of hard work, with a side order of fun & laughter. We love making our home more welcoming for our guests :) #LivesSharedLivesTransformed #JesusAtTheCentre #DontBrushJesusUnderTheCarpet! #Summerfest2018

Well Summerfest is nearly upon us! There are no guests in the house this week in order to free the Community up to make any last minute preparations. There is a great atmosphere in the house already as we all buzz around like busy bees! Another great line up of guest artists for week 2 with Judy Moore, Matt Pritchard and Philippa Hanna. Special late night on Tuesday from Ross Flanagan - Scargill Youth volunteer, teacher and singer-songwriter.

We are so glad to be able to support PK in this adventure. PK has served on both the Lee Abbey Devon and Scargill Communities, is a great friend and advocate for both places and has introduced many new Hungarian Community members to us! If you would like to find out more about what PK is doing and why you can like/follow and share his page. He is also happy to chat and answer his questions and would love some company along the way if anyone would like to join him for a days walking. Blessings #LivesSharedLivesTransformed #PK #Pilgrimage #TheHungarianConnection

Last guest performer (but by no means least!) of Summerfest1 is singer-songwriter Pete Ryder. What a way to end what we are sure will be an amazing, fun filled, God inspired week! #LivesSharedLivesTransformed #Community #Summerfest

We have just returned from our first ever Parish Weekend at Scargill and it won't be the last. For as long as I can remember we have held our weekend away in conference/hotel settings but staying with the Community, in such beautiful surroundings, has been completely different and truly amazing. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and came away wanting more. Great teaching, worship, fellowship, food and fun!!

User

This is just the best place. Warm and welcoming. Full of the love of God.

User

The best place to come for fun, friends, fellowship, food overdose, lovely walks , tranquility, healing, teaching, and amazing scenery in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.

User

Scargill has been my spiritual home since I came to faith there in July 1979! It's a safe, caring place where the Living God can be encountered daily in the loving welcome of amazing people.

Just the most amazing place set in a gorgeous location among hill country. Lovely welcome from friendly Community. Good food and special diets catered for and respected. Spiritual food as well! Magical in the best way.

User

Just returned from Scargill from the February Half Term week, this special place is like heaven on earth. Beautiful surroundings, surperb children's clubs everyday, engaging adult meetings and so spiritual and welcoming. All the community are so kind and approachable, nothing is too much trouble. The whole family returned relaxed and refreshed. Thank you.

User

Its a Fantastic place to be out in the amazing country surrounding areas a place of peace

User

I absolutely LOVE Scargill, and unfortunately, due to ill-health, I havent been able to get there for a couple of years. However, I hope and pray that THIS year will be the year I can make it !!

User

For me scargill house is without doubt the best and most amazing place in the world, I spent 2 full and fun packed years on community back in 2006 to 2008 and it was the most amazing experience of my life meeting some amazing and inspiring people, hosting and working with church weekends, school weeks and also spending time reflecting on my own because there were so many places where you could go and reflect and think about things like the estate, the walled garden, the chapel so on behalf of myself I would recommend to anyone that scargill house is well worth a visit and another thing to mention is this, scargill house you will always have a place in my heart

User

For me Scargill is a real life version of Tolkein's Rivendell. A sanctuary, an oasis, a little taste of Heaven-on-earth!

A great Retreat there last weekend with the Kirkheaton Church group.

User

Couldn't have asked for better weather, worship, food and friendships old and new. Highly recommend taking time out to enjoy all Scargill has to offer.

User

A last minute Easter weekend away. Me and my daughter had an amazing time. Lovely community and guests. Marvellous hospitality and very caring and understanding team of people. Very well worth a visit. You won't be disappointed.

User

A brilliant place for refreshment, growing in your faith or even just a holiday. Meet with God and get to know more about His loving plans for you. The community's care is second to none. That's why I've been going there since 1979!

User

Scargill is a place like no other. The ages and backgrounds mix like no where else. It's a safe place for families with children as it's in its own grounds and everyone looks out for everyone. Children can be children and run free all day. Adults chat, learn and make new friends in a way that happens no where else. Go there !

Scargill House is set in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. It was perfect for me as a peaceful place to stop on an important journey for me. My room was comfortable, the welcome was excellent and the staff and other guests were friendly. it was great that I could join in with the programme and I really enjoyed the taking part in the series on Contentment in the morning. It was a spiritually uplifting time and I would be keen to come back for a longer visit. Thank you
