Shocking article about how not to use scaffold boards, in last week's Construction Enquirer.
Here's their take on it...

New free TFT guide online now about the EUTR. Find out more about this regulation which, despite being a year old, is still causing some confusion in the timber industry - and companies are now starting to fall foul of its regulations.

A couple of new testimonials from satisfied customers - including Hanson Plywood Ltd, whose staff have just completed a course from the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3).
Perhaps time to think again about the importance of training to your business?

American tulipwood (Liriodendron tulipifera) is one of the most abundant timbers in North America. It has excellent structural properties. http://roofing-today.co.uk/t/16PI-1S75S-5 75X18DY6E/cr.aspxŌĆ”

Flooring Grade Chipboard
Print Moisture resistant doesnŌĆÖt mean waterproof
... Jim Coulson writes another article for the Contract Flooring Association on flooring grade particleboard (chipboard)
IN this series of articles, I spent quite a bit of time talking about plywood. This is for good reason, since it is used a lot for overlaying old floors; and it is quite a complicated material which can often go wrong, if not bought and used with care. http://bit.ly/18OGla4

'Putting' Wood First
We're often asked to advise clients on the right wood for the job. Normally we advise them on strength characteristics, durability or sustainability. On 5th July, though, TFT Woodexperts associates Gilmour McKellar and Ian Ashworth will be selecting woods based on a somewhat different criterion: how many yards down the fairway they can drive. They'll also be using irons, which is a material we don't normally have much to do with. And when they talk ab...out 'green', they won't be referring to freshly cut timber which hasn't been seasoned.
In case you're in any doubt after all those terrible puns, our chaps will be attending Masham Golf Club AM/AM. http://www.mashamgolfclub.co.uk/

Trade not good but interest in Timber is increasing is general overview at Timber Expo, Coventry recently. The good thing is more people want to understand more about wood. Training is essential if progress is expected.
