food was great, as much as you can eat, staff were very friendly and got to watch football as well
What a lovely relaxing little pub, the owner is great he couldn't do enough. My husband is a vegan which we always find it hard to go to a pub and get food or tea/hot chocolate but the owner said to us he will try and put a vegan options on the menu and also to stock soya milk. Would definitely go back and recommend it.
What a lovely little gem. On our summer break in Egton i was pleased to see the Witching post had reopened. Great food, great service and a cracking pint of Theakstons. We ate tbere twice during our stay, with five adults, three children and a dog. All were catered for wonderfully. If you're ever in the area, call in. You won't be disappointed. P S. They make some of the best home made chips ever .
We were to late for the carvery but the landlord offered us a Sunday dinner we had pork beef and gammon I can honestly say it was absolutely gorgeous and the portions were huge. I would definitely recommend this lovely place 5☆ service all round . We will be back xx
We stayed two nights at The Witching Post Inn, in very nice newly refurbished rooms. We had great pubmeals during our stay - burgers, pie, lasagne and veggie dishes. The pub in it self is authentic, with history and from its location on top of the hill in Egton, you have a magnificent view of the North York Moors National Park. Pete, the landlord knows a lot about the area and he gladly gives you advice about what to see and where to go.
We received a lovely welcome from the staff and locals when we visited here whilst on our holiday. The food was delicious and we wouldn’t hesitate in returning. Thank you
Visited The Witching Post today..luckily we rang half hour in advance to book a table. When we arrived the bar area was lovely and busy, but we were seated straight away. The food itself was perfect, the best carvery in the area. Everything was cooked beautifully, seasoned well, excellent choice, and the best homemade Yorkshire Puddings! Fantadtic friendly atmosphere, with everybody enjoying their food and drink. We got 2 adult carvery's, one childs, a fruit shoot, a can of coke and a pint of Strongbow Dark Fruits and it only came to just over £30 which was extremely reasonable. My little boy was offered a free icecream for eating all his veggies up but he was too full!! We all commented on what a fab place and fab food and look forward to coming back
The best place to eat and drink in Egton! Delish food, amazing menu for all, and friendly staff! We have booked a table for next week already!
Sunday carvery first visit for Sunday dinner have been for evening meal with family before .choice was excellent beef turkey Pork home made Yorkshire pudding fresh vegetables proper gravy made from stock all hot and delicious if your still hungry the puddings are also home made .you will go along way to find better
Stopped off on way back from Goathland, ideal and on the route home with easy accessible parking.
Had the Mother, my own three and brothers two kids.....all fed and watered for under £50.
Homemade food, “Real Chips” and every plate was emptied, which isn’t normally the case with my three.
All In all a great end to a lovely day Cheers
Stopped in for a carvery today at what used to be the 'Top' Horseshoe in Egton and it was really excellent. Massive Yorkshire puddings, beautiful meat (beef/pork/turkey), well cooked roasties, beautiful veggies and gravy I could have drank a jug of. I can highly recommend giving it a go and I'm sure Pete and his team will continue to strive for excellence as they go along. Good luck, we'll be back soon.
Made very welcome when we visited on Saturday 4th August. The landlord and the young lady working in the bar made us very welcome. The food was homemade and excellent and very good value for money. When we’re up in the North York Moors again we will definitely go back.
Lovely, cosy pub with a warm welcome. The food was good quality and piping hot .....just not for the faint hearted (I was defeated by the Witching burger). Pete was very attentive as a landlord. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.
I stumbled across this gem on my explorations across the moors .... being pagan its name drew me in as there had to be a story, and there was ..... as I was driving I could only have a coffee this time but this was amazing value for money as was the food when I browsed the menu ..... a very warm
Welcome from the landlord ..... I cannot wait to return to sample some of the gins and food ..... Xx
Had a lovely meal at the Witching Post Inn, went to sample the steak night and was very impressed, great service and great food, excellent price and lots of choice on the menu to try next time we visit!
