The food is really great value... 3 courses for a £12.... and delicious! Really child friendly too with colouring in and even binoculars provided! My strawberry daquiri was lovely too. Service was good. Views are amazing! Highly recommend!

User

Just had a lovely 3 course meal here. Would highly recommend not only the food but the amount of choice available even within their deal. The lady greeting people and taking bookings had the best customer service I have seen in a long time. If you haven't been you should try it on your next trip!

User

Waited 1/2 hour on a table but it was worth the wait as it was right at the window. Had chosen our food & went to order when we were told that menu doesn't be on on Bank Holidays. Ordered & waited quite a while between courses, the food was good but small portions. Worth a visit when you have all day to enjoy.

User

Service has really gone down hill lately . I had to ask after 20 minutes of finishing our mains for our table to be cleared even though the restaurant was only half full. Safe to say we didn’t stay for dessert. Food was ok but the starters are really very small . Wouldn’t rush back.

User

Brie starter is a blink and you'll miss it dish with a couple of salad leaves without dressing. Main was edible but not overly flavoursome and with it having honey chilli sauce would have thought it would be. Dessert was lovely. Yet to go here and have a meal with no issues.

User

Arrived at 6pm and were seated quickly and seated with a excellent view from the window. Waited around 20 minutes to get our drinks ordered and at this point we ordered from the menu. It was a long time before our starter came out and even longer for our main. The dessert was a good size. In all from going in to getting finished took around 2 hours 30 minutes. Staff seemed to be a little unsure of what they were doing and lost. One member of the waiting staff had his shirt hanging out and at no time during our time there tried to tidy himself up. The food was ok but nothing to write home about.

User

Very disappointed, we've been coming here for a few years and it was always lovely but the last few times have been bad.. the last time was the final straw, tiny portions, food not that warm and the staff look so unhappy. The worst part was when we went to pay and a table of 10 got their bill and decided at the till to all pay separately, we stood for at least 20 mins waiting and when he finally noticed me standing, no apologies for the wait, no hellos or did you enjoy your food, just took our money and walked away...

User

This place used to be excellent but has gone downhill recently. So bad we actually left before ordering food last night. When seated we were put into a tight corner and when we asked could we sit elsewhere were told no because this was our "designated table." We ordered drinks and looked at the menu. When the waitress came to take our order she told us we were ordering off the wrong part of the menu, though this wasn't explained to us when first given the menus. We were told we had to order from a 3 course meal menu. We didn't want a three course meal, so we left. On reflection I wish I didn't pay for our drinks because we hadn't been told about the menu in advance. Sad thing is, 2/3 years ago I would've given this place 5 stars. Probably won't be back.

User

So I had the cashew nut stir fry, with garlic bread.

Far far too sweet, there was no balance to the sweet. Didnt finish my meal, i would of felt sick if i had. The garlic bread was stale, hard to bite into.

The views are fantastic here, they have a great venue, but just are lacking in their food. Really need to get it together on the meal front.

Ahhh what a letdown! Been here a number of times an on the last occasion prior to this visit had an issue with the cocktails but although unhappy we decided to give it another go.

Wrong!

We had booked earlier that day, arrived on time and were seated promptly and given menus. Waiter returned for drinks order then returned with drinks. After discussion we decided on the 3 course special option where you pay the price of main course for 3 course menu as detailed on menus given and their website.... very outdated website by the way.

The waiter returned but it was only at this point after choosing our meals were we informed that the option of pay for main to include starter and desert was now no longer available. We asked why this was the case and why weren’t we informed previously as nowhere on menu / website or at front desk or on receiving menus was this made evident. We were told it had just changed and when we asked why the waitress said she wasn’t sure and mumbled something about other customers were unhappy too. We asked to speak to manager but got a ‘supervisor ‘ a young man then arrived and told us that the ‘chef’ had decided this and he was sorry but there was nothing he could do about it.

Bad bad attitude, no offer, no compromise to resolve anything at this stage and so we continued to argue our point and eventually he left again and spoke to chef. He returned and agreed to uphold the special offer on this occasion but really it left us very a very bad taste in our mouths. Having to forcibly argue our point is not something you want nor should need to do on a night out.

Customercare here is atrocious. We would have left the restaurant but by this time it would have been difficult to find another restaurant. I think you are taking your clientele for granted 55 North and eventually you will reap what you sow!

User

Went in tonight my starter had to go back it was freezing my main course arrived I had to ask if it was a mix up as I thought I got a children's portion my daughter's meal had to be returned as it was brick hard she waited 15 minutes still no main so she cancelled .the bill was 81.95 bloody disgrace

User

Was here yesterday and to say we were disappointed is an understatement. My veg soup starter arrived to our table cold the bowl it was in wasnt even warm to the touch not to mention the hair that was in it our main courses arrived barely warm my pitta was hard to the point it was unedible and the lasagne was swimming in grease. Definately wont be back 55 degrees north.

User

Was here lastnight and to say it was poor is a compliment. The wadges for starter had hardly any sauce and weren’t nice, My steak had a hair in it the first time they brought it out so I sent it back and the second steak was burnt and dry, (I ordered medium rare) I didn’t have a desert as was put off with the steak. No apology was offered apart from 2 glasses of coke being taken off the bill. I was here a few years ago and the food was great but it’s sadly seemed to of went downhall as well as the service.

User

Very disappointed queued for the restaurant only to be sent downstairs to the bistro where there was not a lot of options I could see through it if the man had of said needed to book but no just go through that door go downstairs you will be seated straight away not the customer service I expected to receive especially with a small child with me definately won't be recommending it to anyone disgusted.

User

Please take note of the people giving 1. I went here years ago and it used to be a nice elegant place for a nice meal. Now it’s a real let down. Me my husband and wee girl went for dinner last night and in this heat they had little to no air con which meant my wee girl was cranky I was cranky and actually sticking to the chair. I asked for water which took ages to come. The food was shocking and over priced my chicken dish was barely warm. I ended up throwing it back up an hour later. Zero dress code people sitting in shorts and bikini tops. When my husband went to pay the card machine suddenly broke and had to wait 10mins in that heat for it to work again. Total nightmare

User

Not impressed at all. 7 teens (14/15 yr olds) where here last night for a birthday dinner. Server told them they could have the "3 courses for £12" which would of ment their food bill would of been £84. Now even if they got the "3courses for price of main" (as advertised from 5pm daily ) the food bill would of been £92.65. This would of been ok but they were still OVERCHARGED for the food. This is just one of the reasons I don't go here or any of the other establishments in this chain...

User

If I could give it a 0 I would as we didn’t even get to sample the food! We are always on the lookout for somewhere dog friendly and know the bistro is renowned for being able to get a bite to eat without worrying about leaving the dog in the car. I was unsure whether dogs were welcome in the evenings and telephoned this morning to check. I spoke to a lovely girl who assured me that the only problem getting a table would be the fact that it was a good day and the inside tables were booked for a private party so the outside tables would be in demand so she advised us to come early. You can imagine how disappointed we were when we arrived dog in tow to discover the outside tables were closed off because of the private party. If we hadn’t contacted the restaurant in advance and arrived to find the bistro closed for private party then fair enough but to take the time to check and end up being turned away just isn’t good enough. Be better 55 degrees north!!

User

I haven't written a review on Facebook before but this restaurant is so bad I feel others need to be warned.

We had a booking and were seated quickly but it rapidly went downhill from there. The meal portions, particularly the starters, were tiny and my husband's main course made him ill. We also ordered gluten free carrot cake to find it full of mould. The waiter's knowledge of gluten free options was also very poor.

The customer service is non-existent as we attempted to call a manager over regarding the moudly cake only to be given a hand in our faces, not even "I'll be with you in a moment." There was no apology and no attempt to make it up to us in any way. In addition the restaurant also phoned us while we were already inside, no idea why!

Do not waste your time or money!!

User

Always loved it here but not anymore! Booked 6 of us Friday past really disappointed as i had brought my friend and her kids. Service was okay but food never had worse starter Brie 2 pieces each you could put in your mouth in one go came on a big plate with 4 Salad leaves steak med to well could hardly get knife through it and top it off dessert had a hair in it! Don’t know what’s happened to you 55 but I won’t be back!! Which is a real shame 😩
