Advice Space Description

Citizens Advice Belfast is committed to providing a superior service for our clients and as part of that ongoing commitment we are changing the way we deliver our advice service.

We have created a dedicated single number 0300 1 233 233 for Belfast. This number will make it simple and easy for you to contact our advice teams throughout Belfast. We are confident that this new number will allow us to deliver our services to you in a more effective and timely manner.

This new number will provide you with a point of contact for advice and information; it will allow advisers where possible to deal with your query over the phone. If it is not possible to resolve your query by phone then an appointment will be arranged at an office near you.

As part of our commitment to providing a superior service we will be able to book your appointment at any office in Belfast if you need advice urgently. Alongside the phone service you will still be able to receive advice by email and by logging on to www. citizensadvice.org. uk /nireland where you will be able to access advice and information on a range of topics specific to Northern Ireland.

Asylum seeker from Palestine/Jordan, a single mother with three sons, has been waiting 3 years for an asylum decision, meanwhile she is living on £20 p.d asylum-seeker support (£5 p.d for herself for each of her 3 sons). She is now seeking to gain a concessionary bus pass since she has anaemia and cannot get about except by bus. Her means are so straightened that bus travel is prohibitive. Under the terms of the Transport Act 2010 all disabled people are entitled to concessionary rates on public transport. However, it seems that client is not even to be regarded as a person under the terms of the act and so will be refused a bus pass further impoverishing her life.

"...an assurance that in line with what was agreed under the New Decade, New Approach deal there should be an extension to the existing mitigations beyond March..." Excellent news for those most vulnerable and in greatest need.
