About African-Caribbean Sports Forum Ni

AFRICAN-CARIBBEAN Sports Forum NI (ASFNI) is a non-profit and non-partisan organisation founded in 2016 by some sports enthusiasts from different cultural backgrounds. It is based in Belfast and opened to ALL NATIONALITIES in Northern Ireland.

The formation of ASFNI is premised on a serious urge for a platform where people from different multi-cultural backgrounds in Northern Ireland can freely discuss sports and how they can use the instrumentality of sports to relate with the local people. It is also borne out of a strong passion to identify, empower and encourage sporting talents and interests, to use sports events to provide for the needs and aspirations of the people and to create friendly environment for sports and games competitions among communities in Northern Ireland with the aim to foster development, peace and co-existence.

ASFNI recognises the fact that people came to this part of the world with different cultures and it will be nice to showcase such cultures through sports and games not only to the local people in Northern Ireland but to the entire world. As African and Caribbean descendants in Northern Ireland, we have our diverse beautiful cultural heritages embedded in the way we peculiarly enjoy sports and games and we intend to cross-fertilise such with the culture of the local people.

Integrating our different cultures through the help of sports and games will further consolidate and harmonise us with the culture of the local people in Northern Ireland and this will significantly give us identity as a people in our new found home called Northern Ireland.

ASFNI is managed by passionate individuals and not by politics of selection or election. We are strictly apolitical. It is driven by a committee of seven passionate sports enthusiasts from different nationalities.
