Brand new gym, brand new bikes, more bikes, better bikes, top line, straight off the conveyor belt - my spin class on Sunday will now have 22 brand new shiny top of the range, technogym connect bikes. Training completed and I have to say I am super excited to be instructing on these beautiful smooth, shiny brand new bikes. You will experience a much smoother ride, in the dark but with mood lightning and videos and fitness data on big screen, along with your fellow cyclists.
***Please download the “My Wellness” app first... onto your mobile phone and bring your mobile with you to log in to bikes on arrival... that way you can see you statistics on your bike console and it will download onto your phone when you get home. You can read your power wattage, cadence, speed, distance, maximum power wattage and heart rate if you connect your garmin or bring a heart-rate chest monitor.
Effort levels will be colour coded red yellow green and blue and the class will be pre-planned so that you can ride hard and have the best smooth riding experience in a dark room with special mood lighting along with the usual high energy motivating music to keep you powering down on your pedals. This is the future of spinning and is a million times better than the old spin bikes.
It’s a learning curve for all of us so don’t worry, just bring your mobile, towel and water and we will explain everything when you get there!!! Exciting times!!

More belated congratulations to this little lovely lady - Professor Wilson, smashing her way around Castlewellan triathlon and rocketing her way around the bike course taking any female out in sight and most of the blokes to boot! Finished in the top 15 in a very wide and competitive field attracting triathletes from the north and south of Ireland. Sometimes I go along for the ride and support too ... trying to keep up! ;) Well done my friend 👍🏼 ... on to the next one. Natalie x

The Power Of Touch....
How often should you get a sports / deep tissue massage?
We’ve all been there … you had every intention of waking up early, hitting the gym and booking an appointment to see your massage therapist during your lunch break, but your morning was spent dashing around the house trying to get everything prepared for the day.
... The truth is, life is demanding and things inevitably pop up. I’m a firm believer that all adults need to have a committed self-care plan in place. If you don’t, statistics show you’ll eventually find yourself suffering from a stress-related ailment.
I think, ultimately, massage is best utilized as a preventive measure rather than an approach to pain and trauma. This is often a challenge, as crisis and pain drive a lot of our behaviour.
Many times, we don’t get serious about things until we are in pain. I’m a firm believer in the power of touch and hands-on manual therapy for all manner of ailments. However it takes a skilled eye and deep concentration to straighten out tense, over-fatigued muscles, so choose your therapist wisely, preferably someone who will listen and has deep empathy among their suitable experience & qualifications and who doesn’t preach beyond their scope of practice...(we’ve all experienced this I’m sure!)
A good sports therapist or massage practitioner will give you honest feedback, no frills advice, encourage you and give you a strategy rather than a one-off magic cure. Self care is ongoing and well worth the rewards.
By modifying that thinking and understanding massage is an important preventive health strategy, then you’re less likely to find yourself in a situation where you end up falling prey to a stress-related or stress-induced condition.
Stress isn’t always a bad thing; we need stress to motivate us to be proactive in our lives.
However, when stress really gets to you in a way where you aren’t able to manage it, that becomes problematic mentally, emotionally and physically.
How often should you get a massage?
Overall, your health and well-being are worth at least an hour once per month on a massage table.
Remember when you come out of a massage, take a few minutes to rebook your next appointment—because as we well know that the minute you step outside those doors there’s unlimited competition for your time and your attention.
Embrace that feeling of well-being ... rather than waiting and just trusting yourself that once you’re injured or in pain and in that fight-or-flight mode, you’ll think about rebooking a massage.

A month ago, one of my clients that I help with recovery and sports therapy...Johnny Reid ... took on an epic challenge in aid of Northern Ireland Hospice, he successfully cycled The Celtic Knot, which is a 1000km ride that must be completed in 75 hours. He smashed it. Johnny is no stranger to endurance events and pushing himself beyond his limits and comfort zone and all for a very personal and worthwhile cause, raising money for a charity close to his heart.

Many Congratulations to my lovely client Professor Melissa Wilson on her very first triathlon, claiming 4th and 5th females overall and both age group wins! Melissa claimed 2nd fastest bike split of the day - there was no catching her! Super happy though!
Was such a thrill to train and race for the first time in 4 years beside Melissa and quite poignant for me.
Also big thanks to her hubby and my client Peter for coming up with the plan and all his support and for bringin...g his parents as support crew along with my own special little cheerleaders 💕
A few cuts and bruises from falls and mechanicals (just me) but big smiles all round, what an epic day to see some familiar faces after such a long break from racing. 😁
