Jay thinking he is great, getting to play as normal. He got the all clear last week from the vets, so sticks are out of the question now. Especially after getting his vet bill in which was near to £1000, lucky enough he is insured. But mad as ever. 🤞🐶

Short time around minding Percy but we had the best of times and he has the softest fur I have ever felt 🐶❤️ can’t wait to mind him again in August

Update on Jay, he done really well over night and he is home at the moment. Thankfully he didn’t need to be feed through a tube as he was eating and drinking away. He just needs to take it easy for the next few weeks so he can recover well. And no more sticks 🐶💙

The Damage a stick can do to a dog's mouth is unreal and my buddy Jay has found this out. Something so simple has left him on the road to a long recovery.
A stick was throw for Jay but it landed the wrong way and with the speed of Jay it looked like he caught it wrong. He let a cry out and blood was coming from his mouth, after trying to have a look we thought he had bit his tongue but this was hard to see with all the blood.
At this point the vets where not open and we dec...ided to keep an eye on him until the morning, he didn't cry, he didn't want to drink or eat anything, he just wanted to be close and I knew something was up.
After phoning the vets for an emergency appointment I took him in and was told that he would be sedated to have a better look. I thought he will be fine, he has just bit his tongue but I was very wrong.
I phoned the vets hoping for good news but I was told that Jay has a serious injury to his mouth and that he would need to be kept in over night. The vet said that "this was one of the worst mouth injury we have seen".
The stick had went underneath his tongue and cut him badly, his bottom part of his tongue was not attached to anything which would explain why he didn't want to eat or drink, but they we able to fix the damage and he is on heavy medication. But if Jay doesn't eat then a tube will need to be put down his nose in order for him to have something in his system.
I was heart broken for my little buddy because the amount of pain he would be in and going by the pictures his recovery inst going to be a walk in the park.
I know some people don't throw sticks for dogs and in that moment we weren't not thinking as Jay loves sticks, I would advise people not to throw sticks as Jay could have injured himself a lot more and after all we don't like to see our fur babies in pain.
I am hoping he got some rest and will phone the vets this morning for an update.
