Scaling New Heights for Local Cancer Patients: Our brave employee, Michael Craig, took the plunge and abseiled down Belfast City Hospital to help raise vital funds for local people affected by cancer. This was an important challenge for Michael who has had family members and friends affected by cancer including his own Mum who had Bladder Cancer. Thankfully Michael’s mum has been treated and is in remission (cancer free). Well done Michael! #ExceptionalPeople #Makingadifference @FriendsoftheCancerCentre @FriendsCCNI

A grant from the McClay Foundation will enable Queen's University Belfast researchers to work with trained clinicians to offer fast diagnostic testing to prevent meningitis and sepsis in maternity wards for the first time in a developing country, without the need for a laboratory. In developing countries, where access to laboratory testing is sparse, these tests could have a huge positive impact on the health of mothers and their babies.
