Although this incident relates to kayakers it’s a salutary tale about the effects of offshore wind if you’re on the surface. Divers and snorkellers can also tire finning on the surface.

Anglesey Easter Bank Hol Weather: The weather Gods are smiling! The wind for Friday & Saturday is variable and 10 knots or less (Force 3 or less). Sunday it's mainly south to south west 10 - 16 knots (Force 3/4) before decreasing again for Bank Holiday Monday. It's not blazing sunshine that's predicted - a fair bit of cloud but don't let that fool you you can still get sun burnt. Trearddur Bay and Porthdafarch has been looking fairly calm although we have a had a slight swell... for a few days to stir things up a bit. We have spring tides this weekend with HW Holyhead at 1102 on Fri, 1145 Sat, 1228 Sun, 1311 Mon. All in all not a bad weekend and the tides are friendly for shore diving on the Trearddur Bay / Porthdafarch side of the island. Newry beach may also be ok. I can't say what the viz is like at the moment - probably up to 3 metres. One last thing, it's early days, dives skills might be a little rusty so take it easy out there and PLEASE use SMB's, the boating season is starting as well. We will be open for air, kit hire, servicing and sales etc on Fri & Sat 9 - 5.30, Sunday 9 - 4.30, Monday 9 - 12. Have fun!

We have been flat out servicing regulators for a few weeks now but see comparatively few buoyancy compensators. It's well worth lavishing some TLC on your BCD. On this Seaquest model the inflation button was on it's way to seizing and the dump release cable had corroded through and snapped on removal. All good now though!
