Eight-year-old Joe often finds it overwhelming when he's in a large shop – but he loves helping his mum Pat on their regular trips to our Gosforth store after striking up a special relationship with our fantastic checkout colleague Joan.
Joan's helped Joe to relax and feel more confident by chatting to him, giving him a seat at her till and even letting him help her scan the shopping – and Pat says Joe, who has cerebral palsy and autism, loves her to bits. Pat said: "We've found the staff at Asda Gosforth are brilliant with him, especially Joan. Every week for the last year we've gone to her till. Our Little Angels Vapour Bath has been making a splash on social media with parents saying it's been soothing their little ones when they're feeling under the weather. And adults say they love using it too!

Guests from a charity helping people with learning disabilities and autism to live independently had a fantastic time trying out the Happy Little Helpers boards with Makaton counters at our Bangor store.
The store's community champion Victoria regularly volunteers with the team and service users from Orchardville and invited them in to try the boards, which are designed to make shopping more enjoyable and less stressful for people with additional needs. She said: "They absolutely loved using the boards and found them really useful as they went round the store doing a bit of shopping. Our fantastic colleague Linda has been going out of her way to help customers at our Luton store for the last 22 years – even taking a weekly shopping order from two elderly ladies who are unable to get to the store and delivering their groceries in her own time.
Grandmother Linda, who works on the meat and pizza counters, says she loves chatting to customers and taking the time to get to know them. She said: "We get quite a few elderly customers who come in and they may not ...see anyone else all day, so it's very important to take the time to chat to them and find out how they are." The store's training coordinator Kirsty said: "Linda is lovely and is known for going out of her way for customers. She's got a really great sense of humour and they all really like her – so much so they queue up just to be served by her. They like her pizzas and they like her banter too!"
