Great to see the native trees in the woodland maturing so well after only 4 years...and to see so much flora and fauna making their new home there :-)

Enormous thanks to Mourne Heritage Trust, The Conservation Volunteers, and all the volunteers, friends and family who joined us for today's One Million Trees in One Day hedge planting and woodland management day, you all achieved so much - thank you! We hope you enjoyed your well-earned lunch of home-reared pork with the trimmings :-)

So good to see Aughrim Hill being replanted with native trees, was excellent to be part of it! Don't forget Aughrim Wood Farm's event on Sat 20th Feb when we'll be replanting native hedgerows and managing the existing native woodland at the foot of the hill :-) (See: https://www.facebook.com/events/109631498 3737662/)

Our chickens have flown the nest (so to speak!) and found a lovely new home at Lackan Cottage Farm where, hopefully, Mr. Fox won't return for supper ;-p

Join volunteers from Mourne Heritage Trust and The Conservation Volunteers as Aughrim Wood Farm supports the One Million Trees in One Day initiative and replants native hedgerows at the foot of Aughrim Hill. We will also restock and manage the existing native woodland planted three years ago (in partnership with Verbum Translators). In thanks for everyone's efforts, we'll be slaughtering (in advance!) one of our own free-frange pedigree pigs to enjoy over the BBQ; there'll also be some veggie food too!

Not only do Boundary's beers taste great but the brewery is also a cooperative - and in addition to this, the people involved are inspirational! You can read about Boundary Brewing in the first edition of Freckle, but most importantly you can buy shares in this worthy cooperative from 7th December - check out http://boundarybrewing.coop/

Two free range pedigree Middle White boars and a Kune Kune sow due for slaughter this week, with another slaughter of free range pedigrees in a few more weeks. Selection of pork boxes available @ £20 per box. If you're interested in a box or would like more information yr welcome to get in touch :-)

Mr Turkey and the chickens have some new friends staying for a few weeks whilst we prepare the new accommodation for the piglets :-)

What an Autumn Harvest for the pigs to feast on: foraged blackberries, home-grown hops and vegetables from the garden served on a bed of spent brewers grain - these pigs should provide very tasty pork! We'll be slaughtering soon so if you're interested in buying a selection of our pork products please do PM Liam, Dermot or this page - or call the number listed in 'About' - and we'll take your details :-)

The pigs enjoying the good weather - and feasting on local spuds, apples and carrots !

Piglets weaned successfully and treated to – or distracted by – a bounty of apples !!

User

Wee piglets almost ready to be weaned off their 'mummy', I'm sure she'll be ready for the break!
