About Ballylagan Organic Farm

Shop, Eat, Sleep, Organic.

Ballylagan Organic Farm Description

Since 1993 Ballylagan Farm Shop has been selling home grown, seasonal, organic produce to customers from all over county Antrim, Belfast and indeed the whole of Northern Ireland. Locally grown organic meat and vegetables are available year round, as well as the most extensive range of organic groceries in the country. In late 2011 the farm opened a Tea Room which, uniquely in Ireland, makes all the food in our own kitchen using only organically approved ingredients. Early in 2012 the Guest House at Ballylagan welcomed its first customers to enjoy its uncompromisingly luxurious bed and breakfast accommodation. So whether you simply want to do a weekly shop for local produce and food you can trust, sample ‘café life’ at its very best, or enjoy a few days luxury break at the heart of a working organic farm, Ballylagan farm is the place to visit.

Gem is acutely discomforted by the approach of the piglets because she has been taught not to interact with the farm animals, and she knows she is being watched. #tamworth #pigs #organic

There are still lots of raspberries to be picked. No need to book, just call into the farm shop for directions. Remember to bring containers.

At last - pick your own raspberries only £6 per kilo. Remember to bring containers and that we are closed on Thursday 12th. We also have red currants and black currants for picking. Great fun for the whole family. #ballylaganorganicfarm #raspberries #organic #pickyourown

Be sure to watch the weather forecast on BBC Northern Ireland between 6.15 and 6.30 this evening.

We use crop rotation in the vegetable field and each year an area will be left fallow. Here we have sown a mix of green manure (to improve soil fertility) and wild bird food and it is a glorious sight.

Our Boerewors is back in stock... just in time for this weekends continued heatwave. #boerewors #organic #nonasties #goodforyou #FoodNI #Belfast #BBQ #Braai #itstheweekend

Making hay while the sun shines. We don’t get to make hay every year because it requires several consecutive days of good drying weather before baling. It’s wonderful to see.

Ballylagan beef slow cooked in a barbecue sauce for lunch tomorrow.#ballylaganorganicfarm #organic #beef #goodfood

Feeling too hot? Follow the example of a pig. Make yourself a mud wallow and lie in it. Okay you might get some funny looks but it seems to work. #ballylaganorganicfarm #organic #tamworth #pigs

Went to visit the farm for the billtong initially. Although there was none, the staff were great and we had a lovely chat. A must is the Tea Room, lovely cake and scones yummy all round. It is alittle out of ballyclare but well worth a visit.

User

Went raspberry picking with my 4 year old today, something different & great fun. The resident doggies came over to welcome us which my son thought was cool!

Had lunch in the tearoom, pity some of the breakfast options aren't extended (wee one asked for sausages and egg) but the burger was amazing, you can really taste the difference.

Shop is well stocked and a big thank you must go to Debbie. Such a lovely lady, very knowledgable & helpful. A real asset to the farm and we will definitely be back

We came here for lunch at around 1pm, and as a fairly regular customer I was delighted to see there was a new special available! Trio of Sliders - Beef, Lamb and Pork with sauces. Having tried a lot of the menu (all of which is outstanding), I decided to try this special.

It came out presented on a lovely slate, with the sauces just infront of each burger. The pork came with an apple sauce, lamb came with mint, and the beef came with tomato chutney.

The taste was phenomenal, they were cooked to perfection and the sauces complimented them perfectly! I would 100% order these again if they were a regular on the menu. I enjoyed them so much I even asked how often they were going to be on the menu, and found out they were going to be sold in the farm shop as bigger burgers, so I could even have them at home!

I would definitely recommend these sliders, even if you buy them from the shop and make them at home, they were excellent!
